This textbook for students and practitioners offers answers to the most important questions and challenges of international management. The main topics are presented and discussed on three levels: (a) the macroeconomic and institutional environment of the global economy, (b) the international firms embedded as players in this environment, and (c) the actual management decisions. The focus is placed both on the characteristics of the individual subject areas (macro-, meso- and microperspective) and on the interdependent connections between these areas. The main interest of this book lies in an application-oriented analysis of the central strategic management decisions in internationalizing companies. This textbook has been recommended and developed for university courses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Contents Market entry strategies Theories in international management (concepts and applications) Managerial decision-making and entry strategies (theory vs. reality) Core structure of the global economy and the internationalizing firm The role of evolutionary theory and decision-making in the process of internationalizing firms The author Prof. Dr. Manfred Fuchs is Adjunct Professor of International Management and heads the International Management specialization of the Business Administration masters degree program at the University of Graz. From 1989 to 1995 he was a research assistant at the Starnberger Institut e.V.; 1997/1998 visiting professor at the College d'Europe in Bruges. Manfred Fuchs has been working at the University of Graz since 1995 and conducted extensive field research in the Philippines, China, Colombia, Thailand and Malaysia.

Proponents have promoted sexuality education as a means of empowering adolescents, yet it has been thwarted in many low and middle-income countries. Nigeria represents an exception. Despite social opposition, the government in 1999 unexpectedly approved sexuality education policy. Since then, implementation has advanced, although efficacy has differed across states. We draw on theory concerning international norm diffusion to understand Nigerian policy development. We find that a confluence of international and national norms and interests shaped policy outcomes, including concern over HIV/AIDS. A central dynamic was an alliance of domestic NGOs and international donors pressing the Nigerian government to act.We argue that theory on international norms can be applied to understand policy dynamics across a variety of health and population areas, finding value in approaches that integrate rather than juxtapose consideration of (1) international and national influences; (2) long and short-term perspectives on policy change; and (3) norms and interests.

The author discusses the applicability of international law concerning armed conflicts & especially the provisions about war crimes & crimes against humanity in the war in Croatia. After presenting the relevant information about the origin & the course of the war in Croatia, he argues that all rules prohibiting international crimes (war crimes & crimes against humanity) are applicable irrespective of the status of armed conflicts in Croatia. Every international crime remains a crime irrespective of the date & place of its commission. Therefore, it must be expected that both authorities of Serbia & Montenegro & the commanders of the Federal Army must be held responsible & prosecuted for the crimes committed by the regular Army forces as well as by irregular Serbian paramilitaries which they supplied with food, arms & ammunition. "This book addresses the rights of indigenous peoples to marine space and associated marine resources under international law. Examining the rights of indigenous peoples relating to marine space and marine resources both in international human rights law and the law of the sea, the book provides an in-depth critical analysis of the existing legal framework, whilst identifying the gaps, and possible further mechanisms, for recognizing the rights of indigenous peoples to marine space. The book addresses three main issues: 1. the extent to which international law recognizes and protects the rights of indigenous peoples in relation to marine space and marine resources; 2. if and how the law of the sea and international human rights law pertaining to the rights of indigenous peoples to marine space and marine resources interact; 3. whether and to what extent the law of the sea regime limits the capacity of coastal States to recognize and implement the rights of indigenous peoples relating to marine space and resources. In response, and in a context where indigenous marine rights are under increasing threat, the book develops an important critical theoretical and methodological approach which moves beyond the current doctrinal focus of much existing work in this area. The book will appeal to academics, researchers, and practitioners in the areas of indigenous peoples and the law, international law, the law of the sea, and human rights"--
