10 p. ; International audience ; My thesis in sociology takes place in a big research program studying contaminated storm water in urban areas in order to develop new processes to cope with pollution. Most of the researchers of the program are biologists, chemists, hydrologists. The study also conveys sociology insisting on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach. Why would a sociologist be needed to help understand a topic such as water pollution, which seems to be a really technical issue? In fact, I am looking to "study my colleagues who study chemicals", and the contribution of their discoveries. Because innovation isn't just about technical inventions. It's a political and social question too. How can a sociologist be part of such a project? What are his/her particular methods? These are important questions, as more and more scientific programs, especially regarding environmental issues, aim to associate hard sciences and social sciences.

Der vorliegende Sammelband gibt Ergebnisse einer internationalen wissenschaftlichen Tagung - bereits die sechste in"Serie" - des Instituts für Pädagogik der Universität Potsdam im September 2001 wieder, die wesentliches Bestandteil einer nun schon mehrjährigen vertraglichen Kooperation zwischen Wissenschaftlern aus lehrerbildenden Hochschulen in Belarus', in Polen (drei beteiligte Universitäten), in Russland sowie der Universität Potsdam ist, an der diesmal auch wieder ein Vertreter der Tschechischen Republik teilnahm. Diese gemeinsame Arbeit zur Begleitung der in den beteiligten Ländern verlaufenden Reformprozesse im Bildungswesen wird durch die finanzielle Förderung durch den Deutschen Akademischen Auslandsdienst (DAAD) möglich. Diesjähriger Schwerpunkt der Analysen und Diskussionen auf der Tagung war die Fragestellung, inwieweit die nationalen Bildungsreformen den zwischen den Ländern Europas vereinbarten Zielrichtungen auf eine Entwicklung des Bildungssystems in europäischer Dimension gerecht werden, welche Hoffnungen, Dilemmata und Probleme in diesem Prozess der europäischen Annäherung und Einigung entstehen. In einem Tagungsresümee werden grundlegende Ergebnisse der Analyse und der inhaltsreichen, teilweise auch kontroversen Diskussion zusammengefasst. Eingangs wird immer auch traditionsgemäß aktuelle Bilanz gezogen, wie die konkrete Bildungsreform im jeweiligen Land im vergangenen Jahr voran kam, welche Probleme sichtbar wurden. In 12 Einzelbeiträgen wird ein facettenreiches Bild der Problemlage und der Lösungsansätze in den beteiligten Ländern gezeichnet, wobei zugleich einerseits grundlegende Ansätze der Bildungsentwicklung in europäischer Dimension (z. B. "Weißbuch" der Tschechischen Republik; Reformansätze in Belarus' - aber auch andere Beiträge) wie auch andererseits vielfältige konkrete praktische Bemühungen um europäische Integration in der Bildung (in allen beteiligten Ländern) beschrieben werden.

International audience ; The aim of this article is to analyze the question of career interruptions and to evaluate their impact on pension retirement for French private sector workers. Using the last French survey on households' wealth (2003-2004), we first study the career setbacks for individuals born between 1938 and 1948. We highlight the new trends in professional paths. The risk of unemployment and job flexibility has sharply risen. As a consequence, some cohorts appear to be more exposed to career interruptions. Second, we determine how pension rights for French employees are affected by different career accidents. We consider unemployment, part-time employment and inactivity periods. Our results show how, by compensating for some career accidents, the French legislation allows individuals to receive, in some cases, the same level of pension that they would have received with a smooth professional path.

Over the last 10 - 15 years significant changes took place in principal systems of corporate governance i.e. in the Anglo-Saxon and German systems. These changes were of similar or the same character. This was an effect of economic crises, mainly crises of 1997 – 1998 and 2007 – 2009. The crises have influenced the changes either directly through amendments in the so-called hard law of national systems of supervision or indirectly through recommendations on corporate governance issued by international institutions and organizations. The OECD and the European Commission played the most important part in this respect. These organizations had a big impact on the formation and shape of the so-called codes of good practice, whose principles are generally implemented by companies, mainly listed companies. The principles happen to be of the so-called soft law character and after some encouraging experience with their use take on the form of legislation.

International audience ; This paper studies payout policies of listed family firms. The recent evolutions of family firms models bring to study two types of agency conflicts, the one between shareholders and manager (type I), and the one between majority and minority shareholders (type II). Our results show that payout policies are related to the intensity of the two types of agency conflicts which are overall less strong than in non family firms. ; L'objectif de cette étude est d'analyser la relation entre les politiques de distribution des entreprises familiales cotées et deux grands types de conflits d'agence dans les entreprises familiales, entre actionnaires et dirigeant (type I), et entre actionnaires majoritaires et minoritaires (type II). Les résultats sur les entreprises du SBF 250 montrent que les montants distribués sont liés à ces deux composantes du conflit d'agence, qui est globalement moins fort dans les entreprises familiales.

Sustainability is widely expected to become a major driver of innovation activities. Many companies adopt sustainability oriented innovation strategies and innovation policy on the national and EU level is increasingly targeting sustainability as "Grand Challenge". With respect to the environmental dimension of sustainability, the notion of "eco-innovation" that is directed at products, services and processes reducing harmful impact of production and consumption on the environment is becoming highly prominent in research, policy and industry. The paper rests on the findings of an international foresight project which investigates new forms of innovation such as open innovation and social innovation and their economic, social and environmental impacts. Based on these findings we show that we do not only need green products and services but rather "transformative innovation" towards systemic change in production and consumption patterns in order to achieve the step-change in reduction of environmental impact.

International audience Definitions of the environmental dimension of sustainable development are usually general and the variety of impacts rarely considered. A correct representation of the full range of effects is necessary for an accurate and transparent environmental sustainability assessment. Environmental impacts and their characteristics are described through the concept of causal chains between a source and a final target. Its parameters are the source target, time and distance scales, and the final target. The scientific disciplines involved in defining indicators are considered. This analysis is based on research on environmental impacts resulting from transport. It allows us to define 49 independent causal chains that address all effects. They are organized into a hierarchy of 27 aggregated chains and 8 groups, as the usual binary classification (quality of life/natural heritage, present/future generations, reversibility, local/global) lacks meaning.

International audience ; L'organismo urbano di Rodi custodisce un'eredità storico-architettonica piuttosto ricca, dovuta al succedersi di diverse dominazioni portatrici ciascuna di una propria politica urbana. L'articolo propone uno studio dell'organismo urbano di Rodi attraverso la lettura tipo-morfologica delle fasi evolutive della città, dei suoi elementi tipici-atipici, delle sue polarità e dei suoi percorsi a partire dal periodo bizantino fino alla dominazione ottomana. Una lettura a partire dalle stratificazioni urbane più recenti si rivela importante non solo per la comprensione della città antica ma anche in vista dell'attuazione di interventi progettuali più consapevoli, siano essi azioni sull'esistente o progetti del nuovo. Entrambi, infatti, devono saldarsi alla realtà urbana preesistente ed inserirsi come ultimo passaggio di un processo di appropriazione della storia del sito attraverso la lettura delle sue fasi urbane, e proporsi come momenti operativi di conoscenza.

International audience ; Witchcraft accusations against Pentecostal churches leaders, known for their antiwitchcraft rhetoric, seem a paradoxical phenomenon, especially when medias give to these cases a political and public dimension. The "Béhanzin affair" broke out in Ivory Coast in 2007, when a voodoo adept, converted to Pentecostalism, accused ministers to use witchcraft. It illustrates a specific context in which such accusationsagainst ministers or public figures question the nation itself. ; Les cas d'accusation de sorcellerie à l'égard des représentants des Églises pentecôtistes, connues pour leur discours de lutte anti-sorcellerie, constituent un phénomène paradoxal, surtout lorsque les médias donnent à ces affaires une dimension publique et politique. L'affaire " Béhanzin " qui surgit en 2007 en Côte d'Ivoire lorsqu'un ex-adepte du vodou converti au pentecôtisme accusa plusieurs pasteurs pentecôtistes de recourir à la sorcellerie, illustre les rapports de force entre pasteurs et personnalités publiques, et interpelle l'identité nationale ivoirienne.

Menée dans deux régions, une enquête sur la production des cartes de formations donne cependant à voir que certains objectifs scolaires nationaux (" absorber le vivier d'élèves ") continuent à l'emporter sur les enjeux professionnels de la production locale des compétences. En régime de croisière, la régulation territoriale s'attache davantage à la gestion des places qu'à la définition des contenus et des objectifs de formation. Dans une conjoncture de rigueur budgétaire, la réforme du bac professionnel illustre avec plus d'acuité encore les difficultés de la régionalisation substantielle des politiques de formation. La hiérarchisation des instruments reflète ainsi les concurrences institutionnelles en vigueur.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) document, 'Training Keys #581: Suicide (Homicide) Bombers: Part 1,' is designed to assist law enforcement authorities in the pre-emptive capture of prospective suicide bombers. In this essay, Pugliese focuses on the training key to examine the manner in which essentialised biotypologies are mobilised and reproduced within the context of the so-called 'war on terror.' The use of biotypologies by both the military and law enforcement agencies reproduces a disciplinary biopolitical regime premised on normative conceptualisations of race, gender and bodily behaviour. Pugliese discusses these regimes in the context of the US Department of Defense and its advocacy of 'identity dominance' through the development of new technologies such as gait signature biometrics. Situated in this context, he shows how biotypologies of targeted subjects are instrumental in fomenting cultural panics concerning the Arab and/or Muslim and/or figure 'of Middle Eastern appearance'.

International audience Robert Miles made a significant contribution to the field of racism and ethnic studies. In his early work, Miles drew upon structuralist Marxist theorizations of capitalism to offer a historically informed analysis of racism and migrant labour (Miles, 1982). This perspective placed political economy at the centre of the study of racism. In addition, Miles' critical discussions with other influential contemporaries such as Paul Gilroy and Stuart Hall (CCCS, 1982) raised crucial issues concerning the construction of 'race' as a social and political relation in Britain (Back and Solomos 2000). However, Miles became most renowned for his critique of the 'race relations' paradigm and his insistence that sociologists employ the concept 'racialization' rather than 'race' (1982, 1989; 1993). Overall, Miles' work was rich both in its theoretical clarity and historical depth, and his contributions warrant critical analysis today. The following interview was conducted in December 2009.

La course effrénée à la publication, « publish or perish », participe au renforcement d'une (nouvelle) norme scientifique : la compétitivité. Celle-ci s'est institutionnalisée lors de réformes néolibérales, tant au niveau des systèmes nationaux de recherche et d'enseignement que des instances européennes et internationales. En partant de ce contexte politique, nous avons problématisé la «fabrique» d'un sujet néolibéral, celle du chercheur-entrepreneur, sous l'angle des techniques de gouvernement à distance (benchmarking, systèmes de classement, grilles d'évaluation, etc.) compris comme des «techniques de soi» pouvant amener les enseignants-chercheurs à s'identifier et à agir comme des chercheurs-entrepreneurs. De cette perspective foucaldienne de la «fabrique» du chercheur-entrepreneur, nous distinguons, in fine, une double posture herméneutique possible: un «souci de soi» a-critique, d'ordre gestionnaire, confiant dans les règles méritocratiques et un «souci de soi» critique, d'ordre intellectuel, inquiet de voir s'installer la compétitivité comme norme dominante du champ scientifique.

International audience ; The objective of this paper is to study the policy impact the populist right has had on established actors in the French party system. To do so, it adopts a long-term perspective by looking at developments in immigration policies since the early 1970s. The paper generates a number of empirical measures to assess policy change and the partisan motivations underlying new legislations. The analysis suggests that policy inputs by parties of the right have been significantly more vulnerable to exogenous contagion effects by the FN. Left-wing parties in contrast have not abdicated from their ideological preferences for expansive immigration policies. Lastly, whilst the findings suggest historical continuity in the politics of immigration control by the right since the mid-1970s, they point to significant policy and positional shifts in the area of immigrant integration, particularly after 2010. As a consequence, party polarization has significantly increased.
