Hochgebirge sind faszinierende Lebensräume und zugleich ein Hotspot der Global-Change-Forschung. Das vorliegende Buch widmet sich den Gebirgen, die seit der UN-Konferenz für Umwelt und Entwicklung in Rio de Janeiro im Juni 1992 verstärkt in den Blickpunkt der Weltöffentlichkeit gerückt sind. Seitdem hat das Bewusstsein um die globale Bedeutung der Gebirgsressourcen, um die Bedrohung ihrer Natur- und Kulturlandschaften durch globale Umweltveränderungen sowie um die Probleme der Bergbevölkerung stark zugenommen. Damit haben Fragen zur Entwicklung in den Bergen der Welt mehr politische Aufmerksamkeit und wissenschaftliches Interesse erfahren. So entstanden internationale Forschungsnetze, wie z.B. die Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments (GLORIA), der World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) wurde intensiviert und das Global Terrestrial Network for Permafrost (GTN-P) gestartet. Auch im Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA) arbeiten über 1.100 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus 83 Ländern zusammen, um wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse für Politikerinnen und Politiker aufzubereiten. Die Gebirge der Erde sind eine Folge der ständigen tektonischen Aktivität der Erdkruste. Sie repräsentieren aber auch die jeweilige dritte Dimension in einer bestimmten Vegetations- und Klimazone. Gebirge bedecken 20-25% der Landoberfläche, so dass sie in erheblichem Maße die regionale, aber auch die großräumige atmosphärische Zirkulation mitbestimmen. Nur etwa 10% der Menschen leben in Gebirgen, aber fast die Hälfte ist vom Wasser, der Energie, den Bodenschätzen und anderen natürlichen Ressourcen aus ihnen abhängig. Außerdem sind sie Biodiversitätshotspots und oftmals Zentren kultureller Vielfalt, aber auch wichtig für Erholung und Tourismus.

The globalization of the trade in animals and food has made food industry effiecency an international issue, which can be achieved through the employing the supply chain management system to trach the food in production, delivery and costumers. In modern conditions of production and sale of food raw materials and food products of animal origin, it is imperative to effectively supply chain manage the veterinary system to ensure health of animals and hence safety of food products consumed by the population. State regulation of the veterinary control in the supply chain system from the production sector is a major factor for monitoring food safety, therefore legislation of each state must provide for adequate policy on veterinary services and measures to be taken to respond to potential food safety hazard. This article studies the role of supply chain management system regulation in protecting the population from the unsafe food products.

For decades, the media has been a powerful agency in presenting Kashmir and shaping views in the national and the international imaginations. Recognising the complex multiplexity of the influences on the media that report on Kashmir, this work is an endeavour to examine the history of the media's relationship with the state through Archival Research. Documents accessed from Srinagar's Civil Secretariat's media section of the archives unravel the state's attempts to establish a relationship with the media in the militarised region since the early 1950s. This research sheds light on the nature of the association between the media and the state, as this understanding is crucial in understanding any conflict region. Hence, it becomes necessary to uncover the trajectory of power, as well as the nuances of histo-political nature of the liaison between the two entities that have contoured the narrative on this region of conflict.

International audience Can the law of war and peace be cosmopolitan? Can a philosophy that sees individuals, but not states, as moral agents provide a basis for a theory of just war? The article examines the approach of "moral cosmopolitanism" developed by Cécile Fabre. It considers some difficulties raised by the reduction of moral relations between states to relations between individuals, in particular with regard to individual responsibility and the role of legitimate authorities. ; Le droit de la guerre et de la paix peut-il être cosmopolitique ? Une philosophie qui voit les êtres humains, mais non les États, comme des agents moraux peut-elle fonder une théorie de la guerre juste ? L'article examine l'approche du "cosmopolitisme moral" élaboré par Cécile Fabre. Il pointe les difficultés soulevées par la réduction de relations interétatiques à des relations interindividuelles, en particulier concernant la responsabilité individuelle et le rôle des autorités légitimes.

Social media becomes a very important and strategic tool for terrorists to do propaganda, recruitment, funding, and facilitation of other terrorist activities. Both international level and national level, no regulation explicitly regulates the use of social media for terrorism. Since many incidents of terrorism using social media in Indonesia, the more vigorous terrorists' propaganda and recruitment through social media, and considering opened terrorist access to pursue their targets, especially the youth generation, it is vital to specifically regulate social media and terrorism. Although social media and terrorism issues need to be addressed by the increasing of local government's role in combating terrorism and the strengthening parental supervision in the use of social media by children, the need for social media and terrorism regulation is an urgent matter to do first, as a guide to tackling the social media use in the vortex of terrorism.

International audience ; Drawing on the qualitative study of three French local governments (Paris, Nantes and the Seine-Saint-Denis department), this article examines the implementation of local anti-discrimination policy during the 2010s. To what extent have these local governments, particularly eager to assert "diversity" values, renegotiated the dominant, colour-blind perspective prevailing at the national level? To address this question, we examined how they used a policy instrument called the 'Diversity Label'. We found that in the three cases, the commitment to the label reinforced both the institutionalization and the managerialization of anti-discrimination policy. Yet, in Nantes and Paris, it also led to a deracialization of anti-discrimination policy-i.e. to the obliteration of its ethno-racial dimension. The Seine-Saint-Denis department, where the majority group tends to become a minority, appears as a contrasting case, as ethno-racial concerns have remained central.

International audience ; Mindful of the challenges to long-term operation, especially the severe safety and environmental consequences shown through historical nuclear power plant accidents (e.g. Fukoshima, Chernobyl, etc), it is imperative that European research and innovation focuses on demonstrating reliable long-term operation. Five examples of European Commission supported projects meeting such objectives are INCEFA+, SOTERIA, ATLAS+, MEACTOS and NUGENIA+. There are economies of scale within, and synergies across these projects which enable further advantage to be gained. Additionally, since researchers are well engaged internationally, this brings into European Organisations latest developments in understanding from further afield (e.g. USA, Japan), further enabling safety assurance advances, and enabling work overseas to be influenced consistent with European requirements. Through examples, this paper provides evidence of the advances claimed, whilst being careful to also declare areas of interest for which further work is still a priority.

Banten Province has several groups of Indigenous Peoples including: 1) Baduy Indigenous Peoples, 2) Kasepuhan Indigenous Peoples. These Indigenous Peoples have the protection of the Customary Rights of the Indigenous Peoples as a Policy Review at the Regional Level for Sustainable Agriculture. Efforts to achieve sustainable agriculture must involve all citizens and all elements of society, including indigenous peoples whose existence has been recognized by international law and Indonesian law. The Provincial Government of Banten, particularly the Regional Government of Lebak Regency, has issued two regional regulations that have legal force, namely the Lebak Regency Regulation No. 32/2001 and the Lebak Regency Regional Regulation No. 8/2015. Kasepuhan which is a customary law community in the Lebak area. The Protection Policy for the customary rights of indigenous and tribal peoples is needed to maintain the sustainability of community livelihoods.

International audience ; Ce dossier revient sur l'une des énigmes les plus passionnantes et les plus opaques de l'histoirede la pensée politique et philosophique de l'Antiquité : celle des traités néopythagoriciens Surla royauté, attribués à Diotogène, Ecphante et Sthénidas, qui nous ont été rapportés sous formefragmentaire par le compilateur Stobée vers la fin du ve siècle. Si ces traités sont toujours cités dansles travaux modernes relatifs à l'histoire des idées politiques, ils n'en constituent pas moins uneénigme par plusieurs aspects : leur forme fragmentaire, qui entrave notre appréhension de la naturedes textes ; la langue dorienne artificielle dans laquelle ils sont écrits ; notre ignorance vis-à-vis desauteurs qui semblent avoir utilisé des pseudonymes ; l'absence d'indices clairs qui permettraientde les situer chronologiquement, et donc de rétablir leur juste place dans l'histoire de la penséepolitique antique – ce qui était à l'origine l'enjeu idéal de ce projet de recherche.

Abstract. The paper undertakes a detailed analysis of health and economic outcomes of COVID 19 pandemic. The paper explains the need for governments to implement steps like partial lock downs in major metropolitans of the world to safe guard the public and contain the outbreak. The paper discusses the economic risks and opportunities for both developed and developing countries due to this ongoing pandemic. There is a risk of a recession and thus the author presents few steps that the governments and institutions of international governance can take to prevent a steep trough in business cycle. For a country like Pakistan, economic response to the pandemic may also include improvement of regional ties, especially with neighboring India; creating thriving domestic economy by promoting entrepreneurship and further strengthening domestic and regional commerce.Keywords. International audience ; Borders between states are being challenged by transnational flows bound to bypass such discontinuities. Territories as we know them are on the verge of death but ironically, borderisation is spreading-as a political response to fear and demands for higher security. A trend that has not spared the present-day Caribbean-an ideal observation post when it comes to modern, global issues. The fruit of (sometimes forced) mass migration waves, it is home to an original Creole culture, born of the brutal womb of slave plantations. Creolisation strips root-identities from their sacred aura, just like transnationalisation challenges border-territories through political strategy. Considering the way culture and politics interact in their midst, how do these two globalising processes relate to each other? How and to what extent may the Creole rhetoric make sense of borderisation as experienced in diaspora and across the Caribbean area?

International audience ; The growing number of multidrug resistant strains in Tunisia has become a serious health concern contributing to high rate of mortality and morbidity. Since current antibiotics are rapidly becoming ineffective, novel strategies to combat resistance are needed. Recently, we demonstrated that combination of a tetracycline antibiotic with various polyaminoisoprenyl adjuvants can sustain the life span and enhance the activity of these drugs against Pseudomonas aeruginosa reference strain (PA01). In the context of our continuing studies, the effective approach of antibiotic-adjuvant was investigated against a large panel of P. aeruginosa Tunisian clinical strains collected from the Military Hospital of Tunis. In this paper, we demonstrated that the combination of a farnesyl spermine compound 3 used at concentrations ranging from 2.5 to 10 µM, in the presence of doxycycline or minocycline leads to a significant decrease of P. aeruginosa antibiotic resistance.

Si concentra sulle nozioni complesse, persino paradossali, di simulazione e dissimulazione religiosa per mostrare come si riflettono nella gestione dello spazio urbano e danno forma al paesaggio urbano. Queste nozioni fanno infatti parte di una dialettica tra ciò che è visibile e invisibile, mostrato e nascosto, esteriore e interiore, pubblico e privato, passato e presente. Esse plasmano le politiche religiose delle istituzioni civili ed ecclesiastiche delle città che, in vario modo e in maniera più o meno duratura, tollerano, cioè sopportano senza punire, la visibilità e l'udibilità della religione dell'altro o, al contrario, le spingono nella clandestinità.
