"This book studies the theory, practice and evaluation methods of international development cooperation, aid and assistance management in detail from a global perspective. It attempts to answer the following questions: How effective are the current Western aid methods? How should China optimize current international development cooperation? How to effectively design an aid management system in the international community? How to assess the effectiveness of aid? The book contributes to studies in international development cooperation. The theoretical part analyzes the main concepts, viewpoints, theories, and disputes in current international development cooperation, primarily focusing on the differences in concepts between traditional development donors and emerging donors represented by China. The practical part studies the roles and importance of different subjects in international development assistance. This part also explores the impact of different aid management institutions on international development cooperation. The evaluation part reviews the current mainstream methods of international development assessment and uses non-experimental methods of impact evaluation and randomized controlled trials (RCTs)."

Çalışmada, Türkiye verileri üzerine yapılan analizin sonuçları da, teorilerle aynı doğrultuda, Türkiye'de serbest dış ticaret politikaları ile iktisadi büyüme arasında net bir ilişki bulunmadığını işaret etmektedir.ABSTRACTAfter 1980's, openness in international trade have been one of the major policy suggestions for developing countries. International Institutions' this policy suggestion was based on that the policy of openness in international trade was beneficial for developing countries' economic growth processes. Thus, to identify whether the policy of openness in international trade was beneficial for developing countries or not, this study attempted to analyze the relationship between the policy of openness in international trade and economic growth through a historical survey and a descriptive data analysis on Turkey. The results of the historical survey suggested that although there were many mechanisms, the kind of the relationship between the policy of openness in international trade and economic growth was ambiguous. The study's descriptive data analysis suggested that the kind of the relationship was ambiguous for Turkey too.

This study aims to understand the reasons why Amnesty International succeeded in enforcing human rights in the Deep South of Thailand's conflict. The Deep South conflict of Thailand has its roots in historic problems, since the annexation of the Patani Kingdom by the Siamese kingdom, which is now Thailand's state. Conflict which initially emerged as inter-ethnic conflict of Malay and Thai slowly transitioned into inter-Religion, Islam and Buddhism. The Deep South community as a Muslim identity feels discrimination by the Thai government as a Buddhist identity. On this issue, the Deep South people made a resistance movement to defend them against discrimination. The Thai government regards the movement as a separatist movement that means rebellion. To stem the resistance, the Thai government, then, formulated a series of laws that facilitate its tools to commit human rights abuses such as torture and detention, when the Deep South community as a local people has no access or influence to the Thai authorities. In view of these conditions, Amnesty International as an International Human Rights organization makes a successful effort to enforce human rights in the conflict. Using the Transnational Advocacy Network concept, this study explains the successes of Amnesty International. The approach used is Leverage Politics and Accountability Politics to be able to understand the successes made by Amnesty International. Both approaches are used in analyzing the success of Amnesty International in forming advocacy networks, influencing powerful actors, and pressuring the Thai government through advocacy networks. This research applies Qualitative Method, with data collection through Library Research. In this study it will also be discussed slightly about the Islamic Worldview of human rights. The researcher hoped that both state and non-state actors can understand the success of Amnesty International's role, similar steps in international dynamics, and be a reference for academics to develop this research.

This paper is concerned with the link between studies of welfare typologies and studies of international social work. Its objective is to show how welfare typologies could be used to strengthen the role of international social work practices to support international exchange of ideas on welfare issues. To meet this objective, three analytical tasks are implemented. The first task is to show that professional imperialism could weaken the potential of international social work practices to promote international exchange of ideas on welfare issues. The second task is to discuss the importance of welfare typologies in supporting the development of international social work by challenging professional imperialism. The third task is to discuss a research project on a defamilization typology. This project provides empirical evidence of the contributions made by welfare typologies to international social work practices.

Few now doubt that successfully managing environmental challenges will be central to public policy in the coming century. Unless the international community can cope with transnational problems such as global warming, destruction of species and tropical rain-forests, depletion of oceanic fish stocks, and increasing water scarcity in arid regions, both domestic and international conflicts may easily arise. The problems of international environmental political economy pose increasingly pressing issues for analysts, policy makers, and citizens. Such concerns helped to motivate the project, "The Political Economy of International Environmental Cooperation," sponsored by the Institute on Global Cooperation and Conflict and generously funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur foundation. The project supported University of California graduate students writing their Ph.D. dissertations on issues of international environmental cooperation. On concluding their dissertation research, the doctoral candidates presented policy papers at a workshop held in Santa Cruz, California. The student-organized workshop brought together these promising young scholars and policy analysts with various senior members of both the academic and international policy community. A key intellectual theme of the project was the (always difficult, always necessary) marriage of theory and policy. However varied the details of international environmental political economy may be, the core problem is always the same: how to induce self-interested, often myopic, decision makers to "do the right thing," or to behave in ways that minimize environmental damage and/or optimize the utilization of natural resources in the presence of external constraints. Addressing such problems is difficult enough within a polity; forging the transnational cooperation needed to cope with environmental issues confronts still greater obstacles. The papers in this policy paper offer an Aristotelian line-up of earth, fire, air, and water issues. The problems of optimal depletion of forests (Bobenrieth), managing global emissions and related global warming problems (Rich), water negotiations in two different regional settings (Carlisle and Williams), and issues of oceanic fisheries (Potter) all receive close, detailed attention. The volume concludes with an evaluation of their work from the perspective of a World Bank professional on the policy-making process. The result shows how the interaction of theory and empirical material can generate results helpful to policy makers. We hope that such close work between theoretically grounded, empirically rich policy analysts and professional decision-makers will become increasingly frequent in the years ahead.
