ABSTRACTImproving strategic information systems planning (SISP) remains a critical concern of both practitioners and academics. To date, a rather large number of studies have examined or proposed analytical techniques, frameworks, and tools for developing strategic plans. As a direct consequence of this emphasis, methodologies have often become the basis for characterizing the entire process of SISP within the information systems literature. Recent theoretical work suggests that such characterizations are unnecessarily narrow and that planning activities within organizations can be more accurately conceptualized as systems of behaviors, agendas, or process dimensions. Working within this contemporary theoretical perspective, the findings of this study suggest that SISP can be operationalized along distinct dimensions of comprehensiveness (extent of solution search), formalization (rules and procedures to guide activities), focus (creativity or control), flow (top down, bottom up), participation (number and variety of planners), and consistency (frequency of planning cycles). Similar to previous theoretical work and case studies, higher order factor modeling of these dimensions suggests that planning systems that exhibit aspects of rationality (high comprehensiveness, high formalization, control focus, top‐down flow), and adaptation (high participation, high consistency) are positively associated with planning effectiveness.

In Islamic societies, the segregation of gender typically leads to the courtyard house, with its characteristic feature of enclosure. However, there are other types of housing in the Middle East. By looking at tower houses in the Yemenite city of Sana'a, the author questions the validity of the widely used model of interpretation of the separation of urban space into the opposition between public and private space. The evaluation of architecture with respect to various studies of the gender relationship in traditional urban Yemeni society leads to a much more complex and dynamic picture of living and the replacement of privacy by a second form of public space used exclusively by women.
The conceptual emphasis on Human Rights is fundamental for understanding the challenges faced within our professional field in the contemporary period. It is impossible to understand our discipline, only from the artistic and aesthetic points of view.In this context, architecture has an important role to play, as a social discipline, in the redefinition of the priorities of the planet: The right to a decent standard of living and housing established by the United Nations in the 25th paragraph. Millions of people driven from their homes by humanitarian disasters. Rational and democratic territorial planning. Environmental sustainability in human processes. Large-scale migrations and conflicts and/or encounters following from these. The fact that two thirds of the world's population still lack access to any formal architectural product. The relation between Architecture and Human Rights has been absent in the field of architectural theory. We consider it necessary that attention is paid to this connection, so that the emergence of new professional roles can be stimulated, and so that experience gained in the field of architecture can be brought to millions of human beings who have the right to enjoy and use knowledge generated in the world in which we all live.

Jennifer Thomson, assistant professor of History at Bucknell University, interviews Ellen Herman, associate professor of Geology at Bucknell, and two anonymous guests about the strategic planning process underway at Bucknell, 2018-2019. The group discusses the lack of transparency in the identification of priorities and the top-down approach to governance. Guests also identify labor issues and the feeling of being strategically beleaguered by meetings and electronic communication. They express concern over references to sustainability concepts, which are specific only to economic sustainability, and they analyzed the way the strategic plan addresses problems with the Greek system and its impact on student life. The group concludes with a conversation about the remaining opportunities for commentary. International audience ; This collection aims to expand the literature on relay stations in Roman Gaul. The subject, which is of interest to both political and economic history, warrants a new perspective in the light of recent archaeological data emerging for the period from the end of the Republican era to late Antiquity. On the basis of architectural models that could be considered as resulting from specific Roman policies, the contributions brought together in this collection are primarily concerned with providing a detailed analysis of the architecture of these roadside establishments, and the facilities they encompassed. Given their frequency and diversity along the roads of Gaul, micro-regional research thus demonstrates the importance of these establishments for travellers. This introduction provides a historiographical overview of the subject, highlights the issues involved in comparing written and archaeological sources, and sets out the principal categories of such relay stations. It also reminds us of the importance of this network, which provided crucial stopping points for those travelling in the Roman Empire.
