This poster will describe the development and use of Introduction to the Science of Cancer (ISOC), a free online course presented by The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) and Ohio State's Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE). ISOC is designed for people who have a limited understanding of science, but want a better understanding of cancer. In five modules and more than 40 videos, 35 OSUCCC – James oncologists and researchers explain cancer in user-friendly terms. The course covers the nature of cancer, its diagnosis, treatment and prevention, and cancer research. It is designed to help people locally, nationally and globally better understand cancer and cancer prevention by individuals, communities and nations. (In one video, an oncologist from Zimbabwe explains the importance of cancer prevention in developing countries.) As of May 30, 2017, more than 17,000 learners from around the world have accessed the course materials online, and course videos and print material were used for two full-day cancer workshops at St Albert's Mission Hospital (80 staff attended) and two half-day workshops at Karanda Mission Hospital (50 staff attended) in Zimbabwe. The poster will describe the multiple ways the course has been used: Darrell E. Ward, MS, a science writer with the OSUCCC – James who developed ISOC, will talk about writing the scripts and supplemental material, working with faculty and using selected videos for on-site workshops at two hospitals in southern Africa. He will also talk about developing a book version of the course to be published by Ohio State Press in online open-access and print versions. Thomas Evans, manager for open learning in Ohio State's Office of Distance Education and eLearning, will talk about use of the course online and as part of Ohio State's Global One Health initiative. The course will be used for professional development by some East African universities, which could lead to stronger cancer prevention and treatment efforts in those areas. Marisa Manocchio, an engineering and mathematics teacher at Bio-Med Science Academy in Rootstown, Ohio, will talk about presenting the course in her high-school classroom and supplementing it with videos of cancer survivors to add the human dimension of cancer and cancer treatment. In five modules and more than 40 videos, OSUCCC –James oncologists and researchers explain the nature of cancer, diagnosis, treatment and prevention, and cancer research in user-friendly terms. The full or partial course taken online, in the classroom or as a workshop can be particularly useful to cancer survivors and caregivers, teachers and hospital staff, health writers and editors, social workers, community health workers, and political leaders responsible for public-health spending.

A basic problem of modern man is whether or not it is possible to give rational meaning & value to his existence in an age where there is no longer confidence that reason can establish objective truths. This problem takes on special signif where it is concerned with defining the nature of pol'al revolt. That is, if man, alone, is the sole creator of his values, does this imply the nihilist logic of violence & terrorism? This problem has been given signif expression in the writings of A. Camus, who starts from the human condition as an encounter with `absurdity', to characterize pol'al nihilism as a perverted deduction from the awareness of the absurd, & attempts finally to reconcile absurdist reasoning with the principle of human dignity &limited freedom. For Camus, rebellion as a demand for freedom against tyranny is a negation, but also an affirmation of the worth of the individual person, & therefore incompatible with nihilist ideology & revolutionary action. A History of Drugs details the history of the relationship between drugs and freedom over the last two hundred years; thus disturbing and unravelling the 'naturalness' of the 'drug question', as it traces the multiple and heterogeneous lines of development out of which it has been assembled.

Policy, media and academic attention on violence in the Sahel region has been widespread since the onset of the Arab Spring, and the escalating violence in recent months in Mali. This research explores the nature, patterns and dynamics of this violence in regional and national comparative perspective, contrasting divergent dynamics of violence both within and across the region. Data is drawn from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Dataset (ACLED), which facilitates analysis of both contemporary and historical patterns. Regional characteristics of Sahelian violence are highlighted, which underscore a relatively low level of violence in the region as a whole, with increases in conflict levels largely driven by the single case of Mali in recent months. Detailed analysis of specific groups and actor types reveal important intra-regional discrepancies which have been largely obscured by characterisations of a regional, trans-national crisis. Together, these observations point to the need to interrogate narratives of regional dynamics which may conceal important national and even sub-national variations and drivers of political violence.

The existence of political parties is a means of governing political communication and government, namely the community. The function of political communication is intended as one party that formulates interests (interests articulation) and challenges or distributes interest (aggregation interest) of the community to be conveyed and fought for by the government through available channels, while in other positions it also explains and disseminates government policies to the public (specifically member of the political party concerned). Law Number 2 of 2011 concerning Amendments to Law Number 2 of 2008 concerning Political Parties, requires legal entities or new political parties to register as legal entities in accordance with Law Number 2 of 2011 concerning Political Parties, This is a circle to further institutionalize the structure of national political party management. Therefore, the provisions of article 3 paragraph (2) stipulate that political parties become police bodies that have a police force of atleast 75% of the total provinces, 50% of the total number of districts/ cities in each province that discuss, and 50% of the total number of sub-districts in each province, district/ city in the area concerned.
