"Neben den beobachtbaren Veränderungen von Unternehmensstrukturen und Managementmethoden zeigen sich insbesondere in der digitalen Wirtschaft veränderte Formen der Beteiligung an betrieblichen Entscheidungsprozessen von (meist) hochqualifizierten Beschäftigten. Der Beitrag konzentriert sich auf das Verhältnis der betrieblichen individuellen und kollektiven Formen der Interessenvertretung. Dies wird illustriert durch Fallstudien in Neue Medien-Unternehmen. Die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der letzten Jahre sowie die Veränderungen des Personalbstandes (Einstellungen und Entlassungen) in den untersuchten Unternehmen bewirkten zunächst eine Professionalisierung der Unternehmensstrukturen, die wiederum Auswirkungen auf die Beteilungsmuster haben. In den untersuchten Unternehmen zeigt sich Mischungsverhältnisse von Interessenregulierung, die sich aus den bekannten Idealtypen von Beteiligung (Selbstvertretung, alternative Formen der Interessenregulierung und Betriebsräten) entwickelt haben." Everyday music listening has become an important research topic during the last decades. However, self-reporting through questionnaire surveys, the received approach for studying individual music consumption, presents methodological challenges. The rise of mobile music streaming and open application programming interfaces introduces new opportunities to address these productively. Spotivey is a free research software that integrates music streaming provider API functionalities into online surveys and in this way allows to connect digital behavioral traces with self-reported questionnaire data. The current version effortlessly retrieves comprehensive information about respondents' past music listening on Spotify while they fill an online survey. Through an informed consent procedure, General Date Protection Regulation compliance for this new form of digital data donation is ensured. Methodical challenges include participant dropout and the need for robust statistical analysis methods. Planned future enhancements encompass expanding application programming interfaces support, enriching retrieved data with information from other music databases, and compatibility with diverse online survey design systems.

Digital data have become a form of "objectivation", which affect how we construct social knowledge and organize social space (Couldry & Hepp, 2017). The workplace is one sphere that is increasingly datafied. This study explores how Uber drivers, a form of digitally-enabled service workers, contribute to the normalization of the social production of space through their interpretative practices of digital data in an online forum. Drawing on Uber's corporate discourse and an Uber driver online forum, we analyze two facets of the Uber app and drivers' mediated experiences: (1) the quantification and discipline of drivers' performance through Uber's rating system and (2) the coordination of spatial movement through location-related metrics. We argue that the underlying workings of the Uber app premediate expectations of service encounters and spatial movement. Uber drivers meanwhile develop practices which respond to and circumvent their own data contributions to the system. Drivers' practices, we argue, are largely in compliance with the calculative logics set by Uber. The article addresses implications of Uber drivers' practices for the reproduction of social space and power-relations in digitally-enabled service work and the gig economy.

Este texto visa apresentar os resultados da utilização da fotografia e da pesquisa-ação em oficinas realizadas em uma instituição, na cidade de Campinas que, desde sua origem, atende crianças e adolescentes em situação de risco social e que a partir de 2002 passou a atender também um grupo de Terceira Idade. O diálogo entre as idosas e a pesquisadora desencadeado no processo de produção da fotografia foi determinante para definição da metodologia adotada no decorrer dos trabalhos, pois a metodologia da pesquisa-ação revelou características interessantes para a construção social do envelhecimento.

A colaboração é uma ação social, na qual pessoas compartilham objetivos e aprendem juntas, visando superar desafios e construir conhecimentos. Nesta ação, destacamos o suporte das tecnologias da informação e da comunicação para o desenvolvimento deste tipo de atividade, independentemente de tempo e espaço, oferecendo vantagens para organização, compartilhamento, registro de informações e oferta de ferramentas para a comunicação e construção de textos coletivos. A partir destes pontos, investigamos o uso de tecnologias consideradas colaborativas em ambientes escolares. Neste trabalho, analisamos as relações e as compreensões dos professores sobre a colaboração e o uso de tecnologias na educação. A partir da pesquisa realizada numa escola pública de Ensino Fundamental de Florianópolis, em Santa Catarina, abrangendo a proposta de atividades com aos alunos e a coleta de dados, apresentamos os resultados relacionados à compreensão e ao uso da colaboração como estratégia pedagógica e da tecnologia, principalmente a Internet.

Emerging research has suggested that digital games can generate entertainment experiences beyond hedonic enjoyment towards eudaimonic experiences: Being emotionally moved, stimulated to reflect on one's self or a sense of elevation. Studies in this area have mainly focused on individual game characteristics that elicit singular and static eudaimonic game moments. However, such a focus neglects the interplay of multiple game aspects as well as the dynamic nature of eudaimonic experiences. The current study takes a novel approach to eudaimonic game research by conducting a qualitative game analysis of three games (Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Detroit: Become Human, and God of War) and taking systematic notes on game experiences shortly after playing. Results reveal that emotionally moving, reflective, and elevating eudaimonic experiences were elicited when gameplay notes suggested a strong involvement with the game's narrative and characters (i.e., narrative engagement) and, in some cases, narrative-impacting choices. These key aspects, in turn, are enhanced by clean player interfaces, graphically realistic characters, close camera perspectives, tone-appropriate soundtrack scores, and both narrative-enhancing (e.g., God of War's health mechanic) and choice-enhancing mechanics (e.g., Detroit: Become Human's flowchart). Eudaimonic experiences were also found to evolve throughout the game, with more powerful experiences occurring near the end of the game and some narrative themes fueling the eudaimonic flow of experiences throughout the overall game narrative. This study adds to academic research studying digital games by suggesting an innovative methodological approach that provides a detailed, integrative, and dynamic perspective on eudaimonic game experiences.

Uno de los elementos claves del desarrollo global de las tres últimas décadas es, sin duda, la expansión de la comunicación y su democratización. Internet y las redes sociales han jugado un papel fundamental, ofreciendo a los usuarios convertirse al mismo tiempo en creadores, productores, espectadores y consumidores de contenidos. Los artistas cuyas obras analiza el presente artículo utilizan las argucias que ofrecen las redes sociales para subvertir y reflexionar acerca de prácticas muy extendidas entre los usuarios de las plataformas sociales en internet. En muchas ocasiones, las relaciones sociales en línea pasan necesariamente por la compartición descontrolada de intimidad a través de la cultura selfie y de la autoproyección de una identidad digital. Se analiza, por tanto, una selección de manifestaciones artísticas que exploran la representación del yo y la creación de subjetividades otras en el entorno web 2.0 teniendo como plataforma principal de creación, distribución, comunicación y representación: la red social. ; Throughout the last three decades, one of the main elements of global development has been democratization and, as a consequence, the spread of communication. The internet and social networking sites have allowed users to become creators, producers, spectators and, content consumers. Thus, the present article analyses the artworks of artists who use the strategies that social networking sites offer to subvert and reflect on the widespread practices of users on the internet on social platforms. In addition, online social relationships often undergo an uncontrolled sharing of privacy through selfie culture and self-projection of a digital identity. Therefore, a selection of artistic manifestations is examined in the web 2.0 environment. These artworks explore the representation of the self and the creation of other-subjectivity as its main creation, distribution, communication and representation platform: the social network.

This article argues for the importance of the memetic tactic of bricolage within contemporary social media science communication for its capacity to curate and distill approachable, accessible, and shareable Covid-19 content. We suggest that the social media communication practices of what we call 'public health influencers' (PHIs) on Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter make use of memetic bricolage techniques of stop motion, collage, infographics, and placarding, coupled with an ethos of 'micro-celebrity,' in order to advance stalled public conversations and to reorient the spread of disinformation back to evidence-based facts. To make this argument, we analyze the cross-platform social media work of three key PHIs during the pediatric vaccination campaigns of late 2021 within our local context of Ontario, Canada to reflect on the effectiveness of social media presence, communication, and advocacy. Through memetic tactics, we argue that PHIs' efforts to engage the public are driven by a larger impulse to combat health inequities that are exacerbated by the different forms of disinformation circulating on social media. Ultimately, this article illustrates how the concerted effort against disinformation by PHIs on social media via memes contributes to advocacy for more accessible, just, and equitable health care for Ontarians.

Algorithmic identity politics reinstate old forms of social segregation—in a digital world, identity politics is pattern discrimination. It is by recognizing patterns in input data that Artificial Intelligence algorithms create bias and practice racial exclusions thereby inscribing power relations into media. How can we filter information out of data without reinserting racist, sexist, and classist beliefs?

In this article, we present the classic grounded theory of remote female fixation, which provides new knowledge on the illegal sharing of sexualized images of young girls in networked communities on the internet. This sharing occurs without consent and usually without the girls even knowing about it. In the study, we identified the main concern and action strategies of the anonymous users of a large online forum for the sharing of nude images. The data were gathered from 20 different online comment sections of the Norwegian branch of a global, anonymous community with a reputation for extensive sharing of nude images of young women. By carefully analyzing the data, we found that the forum's users had an ongoing need to master their own female fixations, which they satisfied through the process of remote female fixation. In this process, forum users engaged in the following four interdependent strategies: continuous competition, loyalty-based inclusion, irregular rewarding, and tactical negotiation. By identifying the forum users' shared concern, this theory may help explain the increasing presence of sexual abuse in digital environments.

The internet and social media have become important sources of health-related information on COVID-19 and on protective behaviors. In addition, the COVID-19 infodemic is spreading faster than the coronavirus itself, which interferes with governmental health-related communication efforts. This jeopardizes national public health containment strategies. Therefore, digital health literacy is a key competence to navigate web-based COVID-19-related information and service environments. Objective: This study aimed to investigate university students' digital health literacy and web-based information-seeking behaviors during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany.Methods: A cross-sectional study among 14,916 university students aged ≥18 years from 130 universities across all 16 federal states of Germany was conducted using a web-based survey. Along with sociodemographic characteristics (sex, age, subjective social status), the measures included five subscales from the Digital Health Literacy Instrument (DHLI), which was adapted to the specific context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Web-based information-seeking behavior was investigated by examining the web-based sources used by university students and the topics that the students searched for in connection with COVID-19. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses.Results: Across digital health literacy dimensions, the greatest difficulties could be found for assessing the reliability of health-related information (5964/14,103, 42.3%) and the ability to determine whether the information was written with a commercial interest (5489/14,097, 38.9%). Manovich (2001) describes the changes that result from translating an established cultural product into a new technology as 'transcoding'. This study investigates the form that the journalism of The New York Times takes when transcoded to the Web by evaluating multimedia news packages published on nytimes.com from 2000–2008. The number and sophistication of the multimedia packages grew over time to include new interfaces that incorporated elements native to digital environments such as hypertextual links, interactivity, elements borrowed from digital games and social media tools. Most packages were produced as sidebars to stories published in the newspaper, suggesting that multimedia was used as an extension of the written word, not as a primary storytelling format.

Digital media and information and communication technology (ICT) are being used more and more in international contexts at universities. In her English-language dissertation, the author examines how this technological potential can be used strategically to expand internationalization. The data basis of the thesis is a content analysis of contributions to international conferences on university internationalization, online and distance learning, university management and research, and ICT and internationalization. The selected abstracts were analyzed based on the model of "Comprehensive Internationalization" (CI). From the results, the author outlines a model for Virtual Internationalization (VI) that considers curricula, international cooperation, and distance learning as well as the roles of university strategy, administration, management, and teaching staff. The highly topical dissertation closes a gap in university research and offers universities valuable starting points in research and practice of internationalization.

Der Einsatz digitaler Medien und integrativer Technologien im Hochschulkontext bietet eine Vielzahl von Möglichkeiten für interkulturelle Vernetzungen und Synergiebildung über die eigene Institution und Fachgrenzen hinaus. Das Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, die Potenziale und Herausforderungen für ein solches Lehr- und Lernszenario herauszuarbeiten. Dazu wurden sechs leitfadengestützte Experteninterviews mit Hochschuldozierenden unterschiedlicher Disziplinen und Hochschultypen aus dem In- und Ausland eines Hochschulnetzwerks durchgeführt. Die Auswertungsergebnisse zeigen ein vielschichtiges Bild an Ideen und Wünschen, die daran geknüpft sind. Zu nennen sind hier eine stärkere Internationalisierung, praktizierte Mehrsprachigkeit, kulturübergreifender Wissensaustausch sowie Co-Teaching-Projekte. Auf der anderen Seite thematisieren die Aussagen auch die damit verbundenen Voraussetzungen und Herausforderungen, wie zum Beispiel die Transparenz der Hochschulakteure, Design und Gestaltung, die Formulierung eines geeigneten Leitbilds sowie mögliche Barrieren.
