This article is located on the tucumano-salteña frontier of today's Argentine Chaco, between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries. It has a double purpose. On the one hand, it seeks to advance in the characterization of indigenous leadership among the autonomous groups of the Chaco, based on what has been suggested by some existing studies and from the information constructed in this research. On the other hand, it researches the impact that the experience of life in the Jesuit and Franciscan reductions could have had on the authority of the native chiefs. It works with edited documentation - stories of explorers and religious who went into the Chaco - and unpublished - kept in the General Archive of the Argentine Nation and some archives of the city of San Salvador de Jujuy. The purpose of this research is determinate the organizational capacities that have been developed by the companies of the industrial sector of the city of Loja, based on the Mckinsey 7s model proposed by Tom Peters and Robert Waterman. The questionnaire was applied as an instrument for the collection of data to the population of the study that are the companies that belong to the Cámara de Industrias de Loja; the results obtained were compared with the variability in profitability and the income tax caused in the period 2013-2014. The study allowed to determine that companies presented positive variability during the mentioned period applied a style of autocratic leadership, downward flow of information, defined organizational structure as well as mission and vision, the most common type of innovation was in products and did not apply instruments that allow Determine the working environment. On the other hand, companies that did not present positive variability were characterized by a style of liberal and democratic leadership, multidirectional information flow, reactive innovation and to determine the work climate used surveys. ; El propósito de esta investigación es determinar las capacidades organizacionales que han sido desarrolladas por las empresas del sector industrial de la ciudad de Loja, a partir del modelo de las 7s de Mckinsey propuesto por Tom Peters y Robert Waterman. Se aplicó el cuestionario como instrumento para la recolección de datos a la población objeto del estudio que son las empresas que pertenecen a la Cámara de Industrias de Loja, los resultados obtenidos fueron comparados con la variación de la rentabilidad y el impuesto a la renta causado en el periodo 2013-2014. El estudio permitió determinar que las empresas presentaron variabilidad positiva durante el periodo mencionado, aplicaron un estilo de liderazgo autocrático, flujo de información descendente, estructura organizacional definida así como misión y visión. El tipo de innovación más común fue en productos y no aplicaron instrumentos que permitan determinar el clima laboral. Por otro lado, las empresas que no presentaron variabilidad positiva se caracterizaron por un estilo de liderazgo liberal y democrático, flujo de información multidireccional e innovación reactiva.

Numerous surveys have indicated that the average citizen does not meet the requirements of rationality & activism predicated by traditional democratic theory, whereas the leadership stratum tends to be more knowledgeable, interested, & libertarian than the average citizen. The study explores the source of these diff's by drawing R's from 3 pop's (a small city, a liberal arts Coll, & a junior HSch) & separating them into those who accepted the possibility of their holding public office & those who rejected that possibility. (The sample sizes were small-from 100 to 250.) It was found that those persons who see themselves as potential contenders for public office are likely to be more highly educated, from a higher class background, more knowledgeable & interested pol'ly, & more libertarian than persons who do not see themselves as potential contenders for public office. These findings indicate that Amer democracy is aided by a culture which encourages the emergence of pol'al leaders marked by qualities conducive to effective, democratic gov. AA.

This chapter progresses an international conversation held in June 2020 that sought to explore the future of urban planning in the wake of COVID-19. The discussion identified transferrable lessons that are beginning to emerge transnationally that planners may consider in an effort to address the inequalities and inadequacies highlighted by the pandemic. Here, we unpack the mutual and unique experiences of the pandemic and the subsequent unlockdown in four distinct territories – Australia, Canada, Denmark and Sri Lanka – in an effort to draw out transferrable lessons for planning practice. By reflecting on examples from the cities of Aalborg, Colombo, Melbourne and Toronto we highlight how extreme events such as pandemics require resilient, multi-scalar urban solutions. Here, we see how national, regional and local authorities attempted to alleviate unevenly distributed challenges, with varying degrees of success. In this chapter, we develop collective, transferrable lessons drawn from each city-region on resilient planning practice to further mutual learning on pandemic and post-pandemic urban planning internationally. In response to urban inequalities highlighted by the pandemic, we suggest that planning must reengage with localism to address global events. Furthermore, we stress the need to acknowledge the political nature of planning in order to grasp opportunities for change as part of a long-term programme of incrementalism rather than a return to 'business as usual' approaches. In doing so, planners should work with communities in an effort to educate and advocate for the continued revitalisation of public spaces and services and the broader promotion of sustainable modes of mobility. Through evidenced-based decision-making and the use of emerging/repurposed technologies, post-pandemic planning, as a key public service, has the opportunity to engender community trust in institutional leadership, and the betterment of the lives of citizens.

Their initiatives were supported by Hucpoldings, an illustrious kindred group born in Florence in the mid of the 9th century and spreaded over the Kingdom of Italy. Yet at that time some members of the group were still keeping important interests in the city and in its comitatus. Particularly, the aristocratic kinship known as Adimari had created a strong backing link with the florentine bishopric about the year one thousand. Inspired by their forefathers' political and cultural heritage, they alternately adapted carolingian patterns of social interaction to contemporary times and needs. In that way they perpetuated their lay leadership over the half of the century.

A report on the 2023 International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) Symposium held in Mexico City. The symposium's theme was "Women, Cinema, and Film Archives," and the event included presentations by archivists, curators, and scholars on women's leadership in international film archives, the history of women's participation in FIAF, and current initiatives in feminist archiving and curation. Still, much work remains to be done. We must ask broader questions about how gender has informed collecting, curating, and cataloging practices; how gender shapes women's ideas about their own labor; and how histories of cinema are transformed by including women's work at all levels as filmmakers, film laborers, and film archivists.

Ireland is reforming its family court practices. This article presents research, funded by the Irish Research Council, which examines the Family Division of the Circuit Court, Maryland, USA (Baltimore City/ County). It explores the theoretical framework (therapeutic jurisprudence) underpinning the Family Division of the Circuit Court, the holistic processes and conflict resolution techniques adopted and what lessons may be learned from the success achieved in assisting the Court Service in Ireland. Triangulating the results, it highlights areas for reform and argues that rather than use inadequate resources as a scapegoat for inaction, a more creative, holistic, stakeholder engaged approach with strong judicial leadership will ensure better outcomes.

The author explores how the ritual religious practice of Sufism and the charismatic leadership of the sheikh play a role in ethical self-making and community-building in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. She traces how the Sufi concept of adab, or proper dervish conduct, represents at once a transcendent relationship with the Divine and urban civility. The author argues that Sufi practices in the care for the self represent an authentic response to the postwar and postsocialist ethical demand in the city of restoring urban social relationships. The processes analysed here reflect wider changes in what constitutes an Islamic authority in post-Yugoslav Bosnia, and the impact this has on the ongoing local debate on Islam as discursive tradition.

Attorney General Karl A. Racine is the first elected Attorney General of the District of Columbia. With his inauguration at the beginning of 2015, the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) began an era of independence for the agency and accountability to District residents. As the chief legal officer for the District of Columbia, Attorney General Racine relies on his prior legal and leadership experience as a public defender and the first African-American managing partner of a top-100 US law firm, Venable LLP, to advise the Mayor and District agencies, defend the city in court and use the law to advance the public interest.
