One of the cities in Indonesia that has quite rapid economic progress is DKI Jakarta. The high minimum wage, investment, number of industrial units, and job opportunities in DKI Jakarta are factors that attract people to migrate to this city. However, in reality, the growth of in-migration to DKI Jakarta in the 2008-2019 period tends to show a decline. This study aims to determine the influence and magnitude of the effect of wages, investment, number of industries, and employment opportunities on in-migration to DKI Jakarta in 2018-2019. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis and the method of least squares Ordinary Least Square (OLS). While the types and methods of research used in this research are descriptive quantitative and verification methods. The data used are data on provincial minimum wages, investment, industrial units, job opportunities, and data on incoming migration in DKI Jakarta in the 2008-2019 timeframe. The data in this study came from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results showed that the provincial minimum wage (UMP) and investment (INV) variables partially affected the incoming oil (MM) to DKI Jakarta in 2008-2019. Meanwhile, the industrial unit variable (UIN) and the variable number of job opportunities (KKJ) partially did not affect in-migration to DKI Jakarta (MM) in 2008-2019. This research implies that in dealing with the high rate of population movement, the government needs to implement policies to overcome it such as increasing the provincial minimum wage, investment, the number of industrial units.

What are the skills needed to serve effectively in Congress and how do politicians acquire them? Learning to be a member of Congress is unlike learning to be a plumber or a brain surgeon; there is no prescribed course of study and no certification process. The criteria by which we judge whether a brain surgeon or a plumber is good at his or her job are relatively clear and uncontroversial; there is less consensus about what constitutes doing a good job as a member of Congress. Thus, the question that begins this essay cannot be answered simply and directly.The question can be approached by examining the job of Congress, how Congress has organized itself to do its job and then considering the skills members need to function effectively in that environment. First, however, we must decide what we mean by effectiveness. Members can be considered to function effectively when their behavior furthers their individual objectives. Alternatively, effectiveness can be defined relative to the objectives of the institution, and members can be considered to function effectively when their behavior furthers the Congress's capacity to do its job well. These two different ways of defining effectiveness lead to another important question: are the skills needed to get to, remain in, and get ahead in Congress the same ones needed to make Congress institutionally effective?

This paper shows that in a contest with the "Tullock" forms of contest success function, an increase in the number of contestants always reduces individual effort. However, when the outcome of the contest is governed by a noisy function of effort, then individual effort could either increase or decrease following an increase in the number of contestants, depending on whether the density function of the shock is upward or downward sloping.

Previous research has shown that thinking about some attitude object results in more polarized attitudes than being distracted from thinking about the object. Perhaps this difference is due to thought producing additional cognitions consistent with the initial attitude direction. To
test this hypothesis, 64 subjects indicated their attitudes toward fictitious persons described with either four or eight adjectives. After thinking about the person or being distracted from thinking about the person, they again scaled their attitude. Assuming that it is easier to add cognitions
to the smaller initial set, the following was predicted and obtained: Opportunity for thought and initial set size interact in polarizing attitudes (p < 0.05); the difference between thought and distraction conditions is more pronounced with four cognitions (p < 0.01) than
with eight cognitions (n.s.); and number of cognitions is negatively related to polarization under thought (0.10 < p < 0.05).

AbstractPrevious research identifies a causal relationship between returns and trading volume. But volume has two components: number of trades and number of shares per trade. In this paper the relationship between each of these volume components and returns is examined and the number of trades is found to be the dominant component. Results show that return activity in a period is associated with the level of trading frequency in a subsequent period and also with the number of shares in a subsequent period. This is consistent with small traders reacting to returns while professional traders largely ignore previous returns in their trading.
