The "yellow vest" movement in France once again makes evident the political malaise regarding representation. A political exercise, which benefits powers based on archaic identity references, is emerging almost worldwide. Are we facing a disarticulation between the symbolic and the real? So-called modern science has excluded the enunciation of the process of validation of its statements and has reached the obsolescence of the restrictions to jouissance instituted by the Name of the Father and the field of the Other, impoverished by the new psychic economy and the promotion of bodily pleasures. Is the dismissal of the political, the symptom of extending the social bond into resorting to the economy of the sign? Consequently, the worrying invigoration of nationalisms could be interpreted as a type of recourse in a dead-end street: that of proposing, with addictive joy, the pharmacist, as he brandishes his solution, in order to cure us of "that is not it", in other words, to eliminate alterity by mobilizing the poison of segregation. ; El movimiento social que tuvo lugar en Francia bajo el nombre de "chalecos amarillos" actualiza una vez más el malestar político en la representación. La política, en beneficio de los poderes apoyados por referencias de identidad arcaicas, está surgiendo en casi todas partes del planeta. ¿Estamos presenciando una desarticulación de lo simbólico y lo real? La destitution du politique, ne représente-t-elle pas le symptôme d'une extension dans le lien social du recours à l'économie du signe ? En conséquence, l'inquiétante vigueur retrouvée par les nationalismes peut être interprétée comme un recours dans une impasse, celui de présenter le médicament avec cette jubilation addictive, en brandissant leur solution, pour nous guérir du "ce n'est pas ça", soit, pour éliminer l'altérité en mobilisant le poison de la ségrégation.

This dissertation examines the Chicano/a-Latino/a literary representations of alternative family models that arise in the face of the family unit's fragmentation. Survival often calls for the reconfiguration of the family through alternative collectives that provide a sense of belonging and acceptance. I begin with an analysis in two chapters of the representation of rural Chicana/o migrant and cannery worker families in the 1940s-1980s, in texts--both novels and plays--that are the bedrock of the Chicana/o literary canon. In my third and fourth chapters, I move to an urban setting and focus on the battle against gentrification in New York City barrios, and, finally, the fragmentation of Latina/o families as a result of mass incarceration. While the Chicano/as-Latino/as represented are both native U.S. citizens as well as immigrants : each group faces surprisingly similar economic and political challenges reflective of U.S. Latina/o communities as a whole that span across multiple generations. I argue that changes effected by the Chicana/Latina movement over the past several decades have enabled the formation of alternative family models that extend and sometimes are completely formed outside the biological family. These new collectives, while locally based, function to address issues that are reflective of larger national concerns through cultural forms of resistance. Given the size and increased population of Latina/os, these new family models are attracting the attention of activists who see the need to give greater precedence to state factors responsible for creating and maintaining these oppressive conditions

This paper examines the significance and originality of Hobbes's use of 'mind', rather than 'soul', in his writings on human nature. To this end, his terminology in the discussion of the 'faculties of the mind' in The Elements of Law, Natural and Politic (1640) is considered in the context of English-language accounts of the 'faculties of the soul' in three widely-read works from the first half of the seventeenth century: Thomas Wright's The Passions of the Minde in Generall (1604), Robert Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy (1621), and Edward Reynolds's A Treatise of the Passions and Faculties of the Soule of Man (1640). For Hobbes's contemporaries, man's soul conveyed God-like powers to human beings; for Hobbes this is a dangerous idea. Accordingly, he establishes a sharp divide between 'soul' and 'mind', understanding the two terms to be concerned with two very different things: one with soteriology, the other with mental abilities. Like his contemporaries, Hobbes thought that understanding the faculties reveals the way to live a good life. But unlike them, his moral and political philosophy relies on citizens accepting that they are not like God, rather than looking to restore the 'divine' within themselves.

A new actor has been (re)introduced into family practices in Sweden: the nanny. Previous ways of organizing care for children (mainly through publicly funded daycare) are today being complemented by a growing private market for childcare, often performed by migrant women. In our research project Care for children in an era of private market service we study the practice of doing care and family in families who hire nannies and au pairs. In this paper we analyze the small-scale everyday doings and negotiations of care by the involved parties (nannies/au pairs, parents and children). There is, we argue, a tension between the parents 'orchestrating' of the caring practice and their expectations on the character of the caring relationship between the nanny and child, and the actual practice of care that the nanny and the child are engaged in, and the specific relationship that develops through this. Parents 'orchestration' further resonates with 'intensive parenting' ideals and present neoliberal discourses of families 'right to choose', something that the last decade's political reforms has enabled, for those who can afford it. Thus, new forms of class, gender and ethnified inequalities are built into the very core of care practices, we argue.

La propuesta, surge de mi convicción, respaldada por los avances de la ciencia y filosofía actuales; de que "ser persona" no solo es la cualidad más inalienable del ser humano, sino lo realmente nuevo dentro de todo el proceso evolutivo. ; Abstract : With this work, I plan to bring up the subject of "person," not only as the integrating axis of all philosophical and scientific research, but also as the center that allows you to sort the various political and social action. The proposal stems from my conviction backed by the advances of science and philosophy today, that "be a person" is not only the most inalienable human attribute, but really new within the whole evolutionary process.

The long-term success of any political settlement in Northern Ireland will rely not only on the willingness of young people to transcend their inheritance, but also on the degree to which they are empowered to do so. This article focuses on the "next generation" in Northern Ireland, young people between the ages of 13 & 18 years, in particular, on young Catholics. It is based on a study conducted in the wake of the Good Friday Agreement of 1998, using a method influenced by the Participation Action Research (PAR) tradition employed in social psychology scholarship. The article explores the ways in which these young Catholics imagine & define community & peace. It examines the degrees to which they consider themselves to be part of a sectarian community, & their perceptions of the ultimate attainability of peace & of their own roles in peace building. The study finds that young people's peace-building potential is hampered by the institutionalized bipolarity of the political system & by the continued existence of a system of communal deterrence. The varied exposure to the conflict of young people in different parts of Northern Ireland influences their conceptualizations of peace, & recognition of this should be operationalized in the peace process. 56 References. This article starts with an overview of the development of planning theory and ends with a description of some alternative 'scenarios' depicting the human-environment relationship. Andreas Faludi sets out in his book "Planning Theory" a definition of planning theory. He compares divergent approaches to planning and distinguishes between the methodology (which planners and architects have to do) and the reality (the social, political and economic realities that planners and architects must try to influence).Obviously, Faludi launched an intensive debate on planning theory, and this debate should be continued in order to gain knowledge about the methodology and reality of planning. This knowledge is necessary to create a better human-created environment.

Er fokus­siert ins­be­sondere auf die Schnitt­mengen be­stimmt­er ideol­ogischer Ele­mente unter­schied­licher radikaler Gruppen. Diese Gemein­sam­keiten werden im Re­port als Brücken­narrative be­zeichnet. Das erste dieser Na­rrative um­fasst Anti-Imperial­ismus, Anti-Modern­ismus und Anti-Universalis­mus und hat als ge­mein­samen Flucht­punkt den Anti­semitis­mus. Im zweiten Brücken­narrativ, dem Anti­feminis­mus, treffen sich völk­ische Nationalisten, christ­liche und islam­ische Funda­mental­isten und islam­istische Dschi­had­isten. Das drit­te Brücken­narrativ bildet die Vor­stellung, im (legi­timen) Wider­stand zu han­deln und da­durch Ge­walt zu recht­fertigen. Social, cultural, and structural factors are associated with delays in seeking help from mental health professionals and poor treatment adherence among patients with mood disorders. This qualitative study examined the perspectives on the services and response to treatments of individuals diagnosed with Bipolar Spectrum Disorder (BSD) in Iran through 37 in-depth semi-structured interviews with patients who had received BSD diagnosis and treatment (excluding Bipolar-I). Interviews explored two broad areas: 1) coping and help-seeking strategies; and 2) barriers to treatment and expectations of outcomes from treatment. Multiple factors influenced the help-seeking strategies and trajectories of patients with BSD diagnoses in Iran, including: structural limitations of the mental healthcare system; modes of practice of biological psychiatry; characteristics of the official psychology and counseling services permitted by Iran's government; popular psychology and consultation (offered through social media from the diaspora) by Iranian psychologists and counsellors in the diaspora; and alternative spiritual and cult-based groups. To improve the quality and accessibility of mental health services, it is essential to have structural changes in the healthcare system that prioritize human rights and individuals' values over the political and ideological values of the state and changes in the professions that promote secular training of mental healthcare providers and an ecosocial model of care.
