The accumulation of capital constitutes an enormous obstacle to the sustainability transition. The role of the capital throughout the whole evolutionary process of civilization is undoubtedly impressive, as it has continuously delivered innovations in our everyday lives. Nevertheless, aswe argue in our study, a dominant part of capital accumulation has not fulfilled this functionin monetary and material terms as well recently; or performs at a low efficiency concerning theecological damage generated. Sustainability calls thus for an investment environment in thenear future that allows for the social benefits of capital accumulation through the expansionof the material services delivered, limiting the accumulation of material stocks, resulting insignificant adverse environmental impacts remarkably in the same time. We will introduceand compare the gains of savings and capital accumulation considering the monetary and thematerial dimensions of our socio-economic system, unveiling the relevance of the capital marketin sustainability transition in this way, beyond green finance.

Connected is made up of a series of mini-essays-on cyberpunk, hip-hop, film noir, Web surfing, greed, electronic surveillance, pervasive multimedia, psychedelic drugs, artificial intelligence, and evolutionary psychology, among other topics. In this breathtaking work, Steven Shaviro investigates popular culture, new technologies, political change, and community disruption and concludes that science fiction and social reality have become virtually indistinguishable

The subject field of this article, devoted to the manifestation of the Islamic factor in the socio- political life of the Great Britain, is localized within the borders of Scotland. The authors emphasize the special (different from other regions of the UK) nature of the interaction of the Muslim ethno- confessional minority with the indigenous population of Scotland. Most attention is paid to the identity of Scottish Muslims. The article highlights that Scotland demonstrates its winning position for Muslims through the development of an inclusive identity. The authors make a prognostic conclusion that Scotland will maintain a policy of affirming common civic values that ensure the pluralism of various socio- cultural communities. According to the authors, the future of Scotland is a post-ethnic, transcultural socio- political state- organized space in which British-wide tensions between Muslims and non- Muslims will gradually decrease, and the Scottish tradition of equality and social justice will be strengthened.
"The longstanding practice of keeping academic disciplines separate has been a barrier to effectively addressing the complex challenges in our world. The boundaries separating fields like healthcare, social sciences, and technology have obscured the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration, preventing us from unlocking innovative solutions to the most pressing issues of our time. As a result, the critical problems we face, from healthcare inequities to technological advancements with ethical dilemmas, have remained largely unresolved. This fragmented approach to academic inquiry has left a void in our quest to tackle these challenges effectively. The solution is found within the pages of Innovations, Securities, and Case Studies Across Healthcare, Business, and Technology. This groundbreaking compendium illuminates the transformative potential of interdisciplinary collaboration, offering direction and support in the form of knowledge for scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students committed to solving real-world problems. By harnessing the collective wisdom of diverse disciplines, the book demonstrates how convergence across healthcare, social sciences, organizational behavior, and technology can lead to groundbreaking insights and solutions. It showcases success stories and innovative strategies that drive positive change within our societies, offering a roadmap towards a brighter, more interconnected future."--

"This book examines the discourse of a "post-AIDS" culture, and the medical-discursive shift from crisis and death to survival and living. Contributions from a diverse group of international scholars interrogate and engage with the cultural, social, political, scientific, historical, global, and local consumptions of the term "post-AIDS" from the perspective of meaning-making on health, illness, and well-being. The chapters critique and connect meanings of "post-AIDS" to topics such as neoliberalism; race, gender and advocacy; disclosure; relationships and intimacy; stigma and structural violence; family and community; migration; work; survival; normativity; NGOs, transnational organizations; aging and end of life care; politics of ART and PrEP; mental illness; campaigns; social media and religion. Using a range of methodological tools, the scholarship herein asks how "post-AIDS" or the "End of the Epidemic" is communicated and made sense of in everyday discourse, what current meanings are circulated and consumed on and around HIV and AIDS, and provides thorough commentary and critique of a "post-AIDS" time. This book will be an essential read for scholars and students of health communication, sociology of health and illness, medical humanities, political science, and medical anthropology, as well as for policy makers and activists"--

IntroductionThis article explored the experiences of eight persons with albinism in Puerto Rico in their quest for educational, social, and employment opportunities.MethodsVolunteers participated in structured interviews that yielded the information presented in this article.ResultsFour main areas were identified that best described the stories of these participants: knowledge of and attitudes toward albinism, resilience and other supports, the challenges of albinism, and current needs.DiscussionIt is clear from the participants' stories that physical attributes are still a prime factor in determining a variety of interactions for persons with albinism, many with potential effects on quality of life.Implications for practitionersThis article contributes to the literature documenting psychosocial aspects of the albinism condition. It provides evidence that environmental barriers and attitudes generally affect interactions with persons with albinism, knowledge that can be used by professionals who work with individuals with albinism.

"With a strong focus on decoloniality and social justice, this volume brings together critical theories, concepts, and practices on TESOL from multiple Brazilian perspectives. The chapters showcase the work of teachers and teacher educators in confronting sociopolitical issues in Brazil, including in the domains of democracy, language education, and knowledge production, as well as prevailing issues within TESOL itself. Contributions stem from an eclectic range of analytical orientations that reflect ontological and epistemological diversity while demonstrating why, where, and how TESOL is done in Brazil. In doing so, this volume also establishes a place for Southern voices to be heard in the move toward challenging complex and long-standing issues of representation, marginalisation, and exclusion that have traditionally characterised North-South relations in TESOL as a field. This volume seeks to promote Southern-based conversations about decoloniality and social justice in TESOL and will be of direct relevance to graduate students, researchers, and scholars in the field of TESOL and foreign language education"--

Perhaps the most fundamental cultural change in modern Irish history was the shift from Irish to English as the dominant vernacular of the people. While this change took place over an extended period of time, the demographic and social impact of the Great Famine of the mid-nineteenth century was critical. This study examines closely the role of the Great Famine in the complex drama of linguistic transformation in modern Ireland. --Page [4] of cover

The purpose of the article was to reveal the problematic aspects of the realization of the right to housing by war veterans who participated in counter-terrorism operations / joint operations. I am interested in observing the protection of this right in civil, criminal and executive proceedings based on national and international law. The methodological basis of the study includes general and special methods of scientific research (historical, statistical, formal logic, comparative legal and structural logic). Statistics are given on the number of war veterans (combatants) as of 2019-2020, in the dynamics of providing them a living space in Ukraine during 2015-2020. In addition, the article provides examples of the elimination of conflicts of laws and ambiguous judicial practices of application of civil, family, housing and social law, as well as civil, criminal and executive procedure in the field of exercise of the right to housing by combatants and their families, protection of this right before the courts and execution of decisions in this category of cases. The results of this work can be useful for combatants who need to improve their living conditions, as well as for human rights defenders who help these people.
