This article examines the incomplete and sometimes contradictory evidence on the crime, organised crime and corruption situations in post-communist states, and then seeks to explain the apparent increase in all three in early post-communism. Among the factors considered are the impact of weak states and economies, neo-liberalism, globalisation, Schengen and Fortress Europe, the Communist legacy (the 'ghost from the past'), and collusion. The article then examines the dynamics of criminality and malfeasance in the region, and provides evidence to suggest that the crime and corruption situation has stabilised or even improved in most post-communist countries in recent times. The factors considered for explaining this apparent improvement are the role of external agents (notably the EU), the move from transition to consolidation, and the role of political will.

In recent years the political and practice climates have changed greatly, towards a focus on preventing negative experiences and vulnerability in the lives of children and young people, but at present many efforts suffer from two defects: they apply adult treatment ideas to young people, and they are not joined‐up responses. The article argues that young people are different from adults, having not yet established set patterns of behaviour, and that this offers a chance to intervene before the point of crisis. While they may misuse drugs and alcohol, in the main this is symptomatic of other problems that they need our support to face, which can be offered most effectively by services that are holistic and integrated, and which deal first with their emotional and family needs while also addressing personal development and vocational skills and training. These interventions need to begin well before the current housing crisis points around age 16 or 17.

Abstract
From its beginning, the Organisation of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America (ospaaal) used its print media to campaign on behalf of Palestinian nationalism, articulating the concerns of displaced Palestinians from a perspective of unrecognised and thwarted national liberation movements. This organisation, responsible for carrying out the activities of the Tricontinental group that began meeting in Havana in 1966, identified the issue of Palestinian statelessness as a key feature of ongoing colonialism. From this perspective, ospaaal developed a platform from which to articulate solidarity against ongoing imperialism, one which could be usefully extended to explain and render solidarity with other causes. We argue that ospaaal's visual and narrative framework, extended to the anti-colonial advocacy first for Dhofar (from the late 1960s to middle of the 1970s) and later for Western Sahara (late 1970s to 1990), presented a powerful, though limited, critique of international governance institutions from the Global South. Tricontinental publications' reporting and solidarity media, in framing statelessness as an inherent problem of an incomplete process of decolonisation, critiqued the rhetorical strategies employed by imperial powers to maintain colonial relationships through international organisations like the United Nations.

Examines the nature of exclusion & identity formation with regard to citizenship on the regional level through an investigation of the discourse of Asia-Pacific regionalism. In this discourse, elements of neorealism, neoliberalism, & the "Asian way" (an essentialist identity in contrast to the West) have combined to form a relatively unified, & somewhat unstable, regional orthodoxy. This orthodoxy does not call for a reduction in national sovereignty & reinforces rather than challenges the boundaries of traditional nation-states. As a result, regional citizenship is unlikely to develop far beyond the traditional nation-state membership. Asian regional unity is primarily based on its common opposition to the West, which is not understood the same way by all Asian states. It is concluded that the extension of citizenship questions to the regional level does not solve questions of identity formation & exclusion of difference in the construction of communities. 131 References. This paper aims to analyse the behaviours related to the decoupling of the disclosed information on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and corporate sustainability, deepening these practices' knowledge within family businesses. For this purpose, we defined decoupling as a gap between social responsibility performance (internal actions) and disclosures (external actions). For a sample of 33,809 observations for the period 2011–2019, corresponding to 5029 companies, 19% being family firms, our empirical evidence supports that family firms present a less wide gap between performance and disclosure, confirming the prevalence of socioemotional wealth dimensions in the decision-making of these companies. In firms without controlled shareholders, the quality of nonfinancial reporting could be understood as ambiguous, understanding that the most useful CSR information is found in the reports of family-owned companies.

This paper provides insights surrounding the challenges and opportunities of small and medium enterprises in Oman. Specifically, it plays up risk evaluation and credit supply as symbiotic players and as tools in propelling business productivity and sustainability. Qualitative approach has been used to elicit information, facts, trends and patterns to establish theories and beliefs as an input to the body of knowledge. Analysis presents that SMEs in Oman have been confronted both with numerous challenges and opportunities for which the author recommends government participation in bringing about financial support, sustainable programs and enabling public policies. A review article on a book by Joseph Bensman & Robert Lilienfeld, Craft and Consciousness: Occupational Technique and the Development of World Images (2nd edition, Hawthorne, NY: Aldine de Gruyter, 1991 [see listing in IRPS No. 68]). The focus on the ways occupational differentiation leads to different world images is lauded. Bensman & Lilienfeld use a phenomenological approach to understanding the occupational-specific consciousness of a variety of society's professional groups. Following a perceptive analysis of the practices of different crafts, they argue convincingly that doctors, laywers, historians, artists, economists, & others all inhabit discrete worlds & together form a fragmented universe. Criticized only for neglecting the distinction between public & private dimensions of knowledge forms, they make an excellent presentation of the paradoxes of institutionalization. 4 References.
