<p>Το εργασιακό πρότυπο στη μεταπολεμική Ελλάδα διέφερε σημαντικά από αυτό<br />της πλήρους, σταθερής και ρυθμισμένης μισθωτής απασχόλησης, που ίσχυε στις οικονομικά αναπτυγμένες χώρες την ίδια περίοδο και αποτέλεσε το πρότυπο αναφοράς για τον ορισμό της τυπικής απασχόλησης. Η διαδικασία σύγκλισης με το φορντιστικό πρότυπο μισθωτής απασχόλησης που έλαβε χώρα στην Ελλάδα μετά την πτώση της δικτατορίας δεν περιόρισε τις παραδοσιακές άτυπες μορφές απασχόλησης (αυτοαπασχόληση, απλήρωτη εργασία στην οικογενειακή επιχείρηση, εποχιακή απασχόληση, ανασφάλιστη εργασία). Αντίθετα, δίπλα στις τελευταίες, προσέθεσε νέες, που εμφανίσθηκαν ως αντίδραση στην παραπάνω διαδικασία. Το κράτος συνέβαλε στην εξάπλωση της άτυπης απασχόλησης περισσότερο με την ανοχή του στις παραβιάσεις της εργατικής και κοινωνικής νομοθεσίας παρά μέσω άμεσης παρέμβασης.</p>

Η εφαρμογή του συστήματος HACCP σε εγκαταστάσεις παραγωγής τροφίμων μπορεί να βελτιώσει την ασφάλεια των προϊόντων και να οδηγήσει σε μείωση των τροφιμογενών νοσημάτων. Η ατελής εφαρμογή ενός συστήματος HACCP σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις μπορεί να οφείλεται σε ύπαρξη τεχνικών εμποδίων. Σκοπός του παρόντος άρθρου είναι η ανασκόπηση των ενδεχόμενων ανασταλτικών παραγόντων για την εφαρμογή HACCP σε κάποια επιχείρηση παραγωγής τροφίμων, καθώς και του οφέλους που προκύπτει από την εφαρμογή αυτού. Η έλλειψη ενημέρωσης γύρω από το HACCP, τα μη αντιληπτά αποτελέσματα, η έλλειψη εκπαίδευσης, οι παλινδρομήσεις της διοίκησης, η ποικιλομορφία των γραμμών παραγωγής και η ιδιαιτερότητα κάθε προϊόντος, το εύρος των απαιτήσεων των πελατών και το μικρό μέγεθος των επιχειρήσεων είναι παράγοντες που μπορεί να επηρεάσουν αρνητικά την αποτελεσματική εφαρμογή των συστημάτων HACCP.Επίσης, εμπόδιο μπορεί να αποτελέσει και το κόστος ανάπτυξης, εφαρμογής και διατήρησης του συστήματος. Κατά τη γνώμη μας, τα σημαντικότερα εμπόδια που μπορούν να εντοπιστούν είναι η έλλειψη δέσμευσης της διοίκησης προς την κατεύθυνση παραγωγής ασφαλών τροφίμων, η έλλειψη επαρκούς εκπαίδευσης του προσωπικού και το κόστος που σχετίζεται με το σύστημα. Από την άλλη πλευρά, κίνητρα για εφαρμογή του συστήματος μπορούν να αποτελέσουν η βελτίωση της αποτελεσματικότητας των διαδικασιών παραγωγής, η μείωση των αποσύρσεων προϊόντων από την αγορά, οι απαιτήσεις της νομοθεσίας, η προστασία της φήμης της επιχείρησης, η μείωση του κόστους παραγωγής, οι απαιτήσεις των πελατών, η προηγούμενη εμπειρία σε σχέση με θέματα ασφάλειας τροφίμων, η παρουσία ήδη εκπαιδευμένου προσωπικού και η αποφασιστικότητα της διοίκησης. Τέλος, οι νομοθετικές απαιτήσεις δεν μπορούν να αποτελέσουν επαρκές κίνητρο για την ορθή εφαρμογή του συστήματος HACCP. Το σημαντικότερο κίνητρο για τη δέσμευση της διοίκησης αποτελούν, κατά την άποψή μας, οι απαιτήσεις της αγοράς. ; HACCP application in food processing plants could improve food safety and lead to a reduction of food-borne diseases. Apparent lack of HACCP implementation in several food businesses may be due to presence of various technical barriers. The aim of this review is to explore the lists of motives and barriers to implementation of the HACCP system as outlined in the published literature and to evaluate respective impact. Lack of awareness of HACCP, no perceived benefits, lack of training, management regressions, variability of production lines and individuality of each product, variability of the consumers' demands and small size of an enterprise have been found to have negative effects on implementation and performance of a HACCP system. Also, costs of development, as well as application and maintenance of the system seem to constitute a severe constraint. According to the authors' opinion, lack of management commitment, in addition to lack of personnel training and costs are the main constraints to appropriate implementation of HACCP.On the other hand, motivation for HACCP application provides an improvement of processing procedures' efficiency, decrease of recalls, regulatory demands, enhancement of firm reputation, costs reduction, customers' demands, previous experiences with food safety issues, trained staff and management decision. Finally, legislation cannot provide adequate motivation for appropriate HACCP implementation, so that market motivation is, in our view, the key factor that can lead to management commitment.

Δεν είναι λίγες οι περιπτώσεις υψηλού προφίλ, όπως ο Bob Nardelli που προκάλεσε έντονη αναταραχή με την αποζημίωση των $210 εκατομμυρίων, κατά την αναχώρηση του τον Ιανουάριο του 2007 από την Home Depot, εξαπλώνοντας αγανάκτηση μεταξύ των επενδυτών, το κοινό και τους πολιτικούς σχετικά με την πιθανή αμφιλεγόμενη φύση των συμβολαίων αλλαγής ελέγχου (change in control agreements) . Τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» (golden parachutes), τα οποία λαμβάνουν τα ανώτατα διευθυντικά στελέχη, όταν η απασχόληση τους τερματίζεται εξαιτίας της αλλαγής στον έλεγχο της εταιρείας, έχουν λάβει ιδιαίτερης προσοχής, κατά τη διάρκεια των τελευταίων δεκαετιών, τόσο από ακαδημαϊκούς όσο και από επαγγελματίες. Τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» έχουν σημαντική οικονομική σημασία δεδομένου ότι η μέση εκτιμώμενη αποζημίωση σε περίπτωση αλλαγής στον έλεγχο (με βάση στοιχεία του δείγματός μας) είναι δέκα φορές πολλαπλάσιο του ετήσιου μισθού. Αυτή η διατριβή έχει ως στόχο να ρίξει φως στο ρόλο των «χρυσών αλεξιπτώτων» σε δύο κύρια ερευνητικά πεδία: την παραποίηση των κερδών (earnings management) και της ασύμμετρης πληροφόρησης (information asymmetry). Η εξέταση του ρόλου των χρυσών αλεξιπτώτων είναι απαραίτητη, δεδομένου ότι η βιβλιογραφία δείχνει ότι οι συμφωνίες αποζημίωσης παρέχουν κίνητρα για τα Διευθυντικά Στελέχη να αποκαλύψουν με ειλικρίνεια πληροφορίες στο κοινό (Inderst και Mueler, 2005) και ως εκ τούτου να μειωθεί η παραποίηση των κερδών από τα Διευθυντικά Στελέχη με επαγγελματικές ανησυχίες. Ο ρόλος των «χρυσών αλεξιπτώτων» στα συμβόλαια των στελεχών είναι να κάνουν την αναχώρηση αρκετά ελκυστική έτσι ώστε να ενθαρρύνουν την αποκάλυψη της πραγματικής πληροφορίας, ακόμη και αν ο Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος θα χάσει τη δουλειά του / της. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο θα διερευνηθεί ο ρόλος των «χρυσών αλεξίπτωτων» στην παραποίηση των κερδών. Υποστηρίζουμε ότι σε μια επιχείρηση που ο κίνδυνος για την εξαγορά είναι υψηλός, ο σύμβουλος (που έχει χρυσό αλεξίπτωτο) έχει υψηλότερα αντικίνητρα για να παραποιήσει τα κέρδη, δεδομένου ότι το «χρυσό αλεξίπτωτο» θα «ενεργοποιηθεί» σε περίπτωση αλλαγής στον έλεγχο και ο Διευθύνοντας Σύμβουλος θα αποζημιωθεί, παρόλο το κακό αποτέλεσμα για την επιχείρηση. Τα αποτελέσματα αυτής της μελέτης δείχνουν ότι τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» έχουν αρνητική σχέση με τα δεδουλευμένα. Τα αποτελέσματα δείχνουν ότι τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» παρέχουν κάποιου είδους ασφάλεια από την αποζημίωση σε περίπτωση αλλαγής στον έλεγχο για τους διαχειριστές, προκειμένου να αποθαρρύνεται η παραποίηση των κερδών. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο η μελέτη εξετάζει πώς ένα «χρυσό αλεξίπτωτο» θα επηρεάσει τη συμπεριφορά του Διευθύνοντος Σύμβουλου στη μη ικανοποιητική και έγκαιρη πληροφόρηση των μετόχων (ασύμμετρη πληροφόρηση). Η ασύμμετρη πληροφόρηση θα προσεγγιστεί από τη ρευστότητα των μετοχών, η οποία μετράται με την διαφορά της τιμής πώλησης και της τιμής ζήτησης, τον όγκο συναλλαγών και τη μεταβλητότητα των αποδόσεων των μετοχών. Τα αποτελέσματα αυτής της μελέτης δείχνουν ότι τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» οδηγούν σε μεγαλύτερη ρευστότητα δεδομένου ότι έχουμε μικρή διαφορά στην τιμή προσφοράς και ζήτησης, υψηλότερο όγκο συναλλαγών και μικρότερο ποσοστό μεταβλητότητας των αποδόσεων στις επιχειρήσεις. Ως εκ τούτου, τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» μειώνουν την ασυμμετρία πληροφόρησης μεταξύ των διευθυντικών στελεχών και των μετόχων. Στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο θα διερευνηθεί η επίδραση των «χρυσών αλεξίπτωτων» στην απόφαση των Διευθυντικών Στελεχών για δημοσιοποίηση αρνητικών πληροφοριών στην αγορά. Η αποκάλυψη πληροφοριών, είτε θετικών είτε αρνητικών, θα μετρηθεί από τη διαφορά στην προβλεπόμενη και πραγματική τιμή κέρδους ανά μετοχή. Τα αποτελέσματα της μελέτης δείχνουν ότι τα «χρυσά αλεξίπτωτα» και τα αρνητικά νέα έχουν αρνητική σχέση, και ως εκ τούτου μπορούμε να συμπεράνουμε ότι στην περίπτωση κατά την οποία υπάρχει «χρυσό αλεξίπτωτο» η ύπαρξη των αρνητικών ειδήσεων μειώνεται. ; The recent financial crisis is considered to be the worst financial crisis in the economic history resulting in the collapse of many financial institutions, the down turn of capital markets and the unprecedented incompetence of governments exit recession. CEOs have been some of the big winners since the financial crisis. Few high profile cases such as Bob Nardelli´s plentifully upheaval paid of $210 million, upon his departure on January 2007 from Home Depot, spread stirring indignation among investors, the public, and politicians concerning a potential controversial nature of the change in control agreements. Golden parachutes, the so debated packages, that top executives receive when their employment has been terminated because of a change in control of the firm, has receive much attention during the last decades from both academics and practitioners. Golden parachutes has a significant economical meaning since the mean estimated payment in case of change in control in our sample is ten times annual salary payment. This dissertation aims to shed light in the role of golden parachute in two main streams: earnings management and information asymmetry. An examination of the role of golden parachutes is essential, since the literature suggest that compensation agreements provide incentives for managers to truthfully reveal information (Inderst and Mueler, 2005) and hence reduce earnings management for managers with career concerns. The role of golden parachute in the executive contract is to make the departure attractive enough to encourage the truth telling; even if the CEO will lose his/her job. In the first chapter we investigate the role of golden parachutes in earnings management. We posit that in a firm that the risk for takeover is high, the manager (having golden parachute) has higher disincentives to manipulate earnings given that the golden parachute will be "activated" in case of change in control and the CEO will compensated although the bad outcome for the firm. The results of this study state that golden parachutes have a negative relationship with accruals. The results suggest that golden parachutes provide insurance by guarantee compensation in the case of change in control to managers in order to discourage earnings management. In the second chapter the study examines how a golden parachute will influence CEO's behavior in terms of information asymmetry. Information asymmetry will be approached by stock liquidity, which will be measured with bid-ask spread, trading volume and share return volatility. The results of this study suggests that golden parachutes existence leads to higher liquidity; since we have small bid ask spreads, higher trading volume and lower share return volatility in firms where the CEO has a golden parachute agreement. Hence, golden parachutes decrease information asymmetry between managers and shareholders. In the last chapter, following the results of the second chapter, we will investigate the effect of golden parachute on the disclosure behavior of CEOs on bad news. The news disclosure, either good or bad, will be measured by the forecast error. The results of the study suggest that golden parachutes and bad news have negative relationship, and hence we can conclude that in the case where the CEO has a golden parachute the existence of bad news.

International audience The response of wood markets to the erratic economic environment in 2015 was highly variable depending on species and products. While the strong demand for workable oak continues to drive prices up, the weak demand for new housing led to a significant drop in the demand for fir-spruce. Other products proved more stable. On average, the apparent unit price increased 4% but logging volumes fell 7% as a result of greater unsold stocks. This has meant that the wood turnover for state- and local government-owned forests has gone down 3%. The volumes sold under timber supply contracts have grown by 2% and hence continue to contribute to securing supplies to the wood industry. ; L'environnement économique contrasté a induit des divergences entre les essences et les produits sur les marchés du bois en 2015. Ainsi, si la forte demande en bois d'oeuvre de Chêne continue à faire monter les prix, la faible demande en construction neuve a conduit à une nette baisse de la demande et des prix du Sapin-Épicéa ; les autres produits ont été plus proches de la stabilité. En moyenne, le prix unitaire apparent augmente de 4 % mais le volume mobilisé diminue de 7 % en raison de la hausse des stocks d'invendus. Il en résulte un tassement de 3 % du chiffre d'affaires bois dans les forêts de l'État et des collectivités. Les volumes fournis en contrats d'approvisionnement progressent de 2 %, contribuant toujours à sécuriser les approvisionnements des industriels du bois.

Advertising and its effects have been debated for well over a century. In the last fewdecades a generally sceptical view of the benefits of advertising has been overturned by a series ofacademic advances in economics that detail a variety of ways in which advertising may affect theeconomy and society. This academic work has however been paralleled by a growing popular andpolitical opposition to advertising and its social effects. In this paper, the positive economic case foradvertising is challenged by an assessment of the main channels of its influence and by a review ofthe associated empirical findings on its economic and wider impact. A policy response of limitingthe tax deductibility of business advertising is explored.

In this note, the first part provides a summary overview of the different types of global modelling tools: integrated assessment models for the analysis of climate change adaptation/mitigation policies; market and trade models for the projection of food availability and needs and the assessment of the impact of various factors (including policies in particular) in terms of global food security. The second part identifies the main internal INRA work, which could constitute the bricks of a global model with biogeophysical and economic components, whether developed at INRA or elsewhere. The third part proposes research into the potential overall modelling of the GloFoodS metaprogramme. ; Dans cette note, la première partie donne un aperçu synthétique des différents types d'outils de modélisation globale : les modèles d'évaluation intégrée pour l'analyse des politiques d'adaptation au/mitigation du changement climatique, d'une part ; les modèles de marchés et d'échanges pour la projection des disponibilités et des besoins alimentaires et l'évaluation de l'impact de différents facteurs (dont en particulier les politiques) en termes de sécurité alimentaire mondiale, d'autre part. La deuxième partie recense les principaux travaux internes à l'INRA, qui pourraient constituer les briques d'un modèle global avec composantes biogéophysiques et économiques, que ce dernier soit développé à l'INRA ou ailleurs. International audience This paper is about the contested use of urban space, focusing on the appropriation of informal trading spaces by street traders in Kisumu, Kenya's third largest city. The objective is to understand the access to and control of the trading streets around Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground. These trading places are understood as a resource. I argue that legal and political contradictions create an ambiguous institutional environment. These ambiguities contribute to the development of conflicts in the use of these trading places and give advantages to actors with a key position, particularly the brokers acting as an interface between street traders and authorities. The empirical material for this study comes from surveys carried out in Kisumu between April and December 2016. 26 semi-structured interviews, three life story interviews and two focus group interviews were carried out, mainly with street traders. The first part of this paper develops the theoretical approach and the ambiguity of the street trading institutional environment. The second part deals with the daily struggle for trading places and then it focuses on projects by local authorities about street trade management. These projects increase the process of fragmentation of street traders' associations.

This article focuses on situational prevention, a security policy which consists of planning space to reduce the likelihood of the crime taking place, and more specifically on the uses of situational prevention in two stations and two shopping centres. Various situational prevention measures (video surveillance, lighting and layout of these areas, access and flow management) are analysed on the basis of qualitative data. It can be seen how these arrangements reveal an implicit theory of disorder; how security rationalities are inseparable from business rationalities; and how to finally produce order cannot simply equip space. ; National audience Cet article porte sur la prévention situationnelle, une politique de sécurité qui consiste à aménager l'espace pour réduire la probabilité du passage à l'acte délinquant, et plus précisément sur les usages de la prévention situationnelle dans deux gares et deux centres commerciaux. Différents dispositifs de prévention situationnelle (la vidéosurveillance, l'éclairage et de l'aménagement de ces espaces, la gestion des accès et des flux) sont analysés à partir de données qualitatives. On montre comment ces dispositifs révèlent une théorie implicite du désordre ; comment les rationalités de sécurité sont indissociables des rationalités d'entreprises ; et comment enfin produire de l'ordre ne peut se résumer à agencer l'espace.

We study the ever more integrated and ever more unbalanced trade relationships between European countries. To better capture the complexity of economic networks, we propose two global measures that assess the trade integration and the trade imbalances of the European countries. These measures are the network (or indirect) counterparts to traditional (or direct) measures such as the trade-to-GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and trade deficit-to-GDP ratios. Our indirect tools account for the European inter-country trade structure and follow (i) a decomposition of the global trade flow into elementary flows that highlight the long-range dependencies between exporting and importing economies and (ii) the commute-time distance for trade integration, which measures the impact of a perturbation in the economy of a country on another country, possibly through intermediate partners by domino effect. Our application addresses the impact of the launch of the Euro. We find that the indirect imbalance measures better identify the countries ultimately bearing deficits and surpluses, by neutralizing the impact of trade transit countries, such as the Netherlands. Among others, we find that ultimate surpluses of Germany are quite concentrated in only three partners. We also show that for some countries, the direct and indirect measures of trade integration diverge, thereby revealing that these countries (e.g. Greece and Portugal) trade to a smaller extent with countries considered as central in the European Union network.

Summary This work presents barriers perceived by manufacturing companies in Argentina and Ecuador that innovated in the product and process in their business activities. The World Bank Enterprise Surveys database of 2017 was used through a chi2 Pearson analysis and a probit model applied to a sample of 103 Ecuadorian companies and 644 Argentinian companies. Political instability, financing, labour regulations and inadequate labour force are limitations for Argentinian companies. The limiting factors associated with innovation in the process are corruption in Ecuadorian companies; in Argentina's case are crime, theft and disorder and labour regulations. Se utilizó la base de datos de la Enterprise Surveys del Banco Mundial del 2017 a través de un análisis chi2 de Pearson y un modelo probit aplicados a una muestra de 103 empresas ecuatorianas y 644 empresas argentinas. La inestabilidad política, el financiamiento, las regulaciones laborales y la fuerza laboral inadecuada son limitaciones para las empresas argentinas. Los factores limitantes asociados a la innovación en el proceso son, en las empresas ecuatorianas, la corrupción; en el caso argentino son el crimen, el robo y el desorden y las regulaciones laborales.
