Το άρθρο αυτό εξετάζει ορισμένες πτυχές της σύγχρονης θεωρητικής συζήτησης όσον αφορά τη θέση της θρησκείας στη δημόσια σφαίρα και τις συνεπαγόμενες συνέπειες για τις ατομικές ελευθερίες και τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Η ανάλυση εστιάζεται στην αντιπαράθεση της Κριτικής Θεωρίας με τον Κοινοτισμό. Η πολιτική των ταυτοτήτων στις σύγχρονες παγκοσμιοποιημένες κοινωνίες θέτει νέα διλήμματα τα οποία σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις συνοδεύονται από μία ιδιότυπη παλινόρθωση της θρησκείας. Το στοιχείο αυτό εκφράζεται σε πολιτικές και κοινωνικές πρακτικές και επηρεάζει γενικότερα την πολιτική κουλτούρα όσον αφορά τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα. Τέλος, υπό το φως αυτών των πολιτικών διλημμάτων εξετάζεται η πρόσφατη εκπαιδευτική πολιτική όσον αφορά το μάθημα των Θρησκευτικών στο ελληνικό σχολείο. ; The aim of this article is to examine some critical aspects of contemporary enquiry regarding the place of religion in the public sphere and its implications for basic individual freedoms and human rights. It particularly focuses on the debate between Critical Theory and Communitarianism. Modern globalized societies are confronted with critical dilemmas stemming from the politics of identity, which in some cases are followed by a peculiar resurgence of religion. These aspects are reflected on political and social practices and impact on political culture and human rights. Finally, in the light of the above dilemmas, the article examines recent education policy on religious teaching in Greek public schools.

Το κείμενο επιδιώκει μια κριτική προσέγγιση της πρόσφατης στροφής της επικοινωνιακής θεωρίας του Habermas στη θρησκεία στο πλαίσιο της μετακοσμικής κοινωνίας. Σύμφωνα με τη μετακοσμική κατανόηση της κοινωνίας, η θρησκεία διατηρεί αναλλοίωτη την επιρροή της στη δημόσια σφαίρα. Με αφετηρία αυτήν την προβληματική, σκοπεύω να δείξω ότι ο διάλογος της μεταμεταφυσικής σκέψης με τη θρησκεία αποτελεί ένα καθήκον πολιτικό και αποσκοπεί στη διεύρυνση της κανονιστικής εμβέλειας του πρακτικού Λόγου απέναντι στην αποσάθρωση των δεσμών αλληλεγγύης από τις ανεξέλεγκτες συνέπειες της διαδικασίας εκσυγχρονισμού. Παράλληλα, θα αναπτύξω μια κριτική αποτίμηση του διαλόγου της μεταμεταφυσικής σκέψης με τη θρησκεία προκειμένου να αναδείξω τις εγγενείς αδυναμίες της θεωρητικής στρατηγικής του Habermas σε σχέση με την προβληματική της παρακινητικής ισχύος του πρακτικού Λόγου και το ζήτημα της μετάβασης από τη θεωρία στην πράξη.
H Σενεγάλη είναι μία γαλλόφωνη, πολυθρησκει-ακή και πολυεθνική χώρα, ουδετερόθρησκο Κράτος με πληθυσμιακά επικρατέστερη θρησκεία το Ισλάμ. Το κράτος της Σενεγάλης έπειτα από διεθνείς συστάσεις, και έχοντας ως στόχο την επίτευξη μιας καθολικής πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, επιχείρησε μία εκπαιδευτική μεταρρύθμιση το έτος 2000, μετά από την πρώτη εναλλαγή κυβέρνησης που συνέβη στη χώρα. H συμβολή μας έχει ως στόχο να εξετάσει τα αποτελέσματα κάποιων όψεων της παρούσας μεταρρύθμισης, σχετικών με την εισαγωγή της θρησκευτικής εκπαίδευσης στα δημόσια δημοτικά σχολεία και το σχέδιο εκσυγχρονισμού των «daara» μέσω μίας έρευνας αρχείων και πεδίου που πραγματοποίηθηκε στη Σενεγάλη από τον Ιούλιο έως τον Αύγουστο του 2017. ; Pays francophone, multiconfessionnel et multiethnique, le Sénégal est un État laïque avec une population majoritairement musulmane. Suite aux recommandations internationales et dans le but d'atteindre une scolarisation universelle au niveau du primaire, l'État du Sénégal, aux lendemains de la première alternance politique intervenue en 2000, a entrepris une réforme de son système éducatif. Notre contribution se fixe comme objectif d'examiner les effets de quelques aspects de la présente réforme liés à l'introduction de l'éducation religieuse dans les écoles publiques élémentaires et le projet de modernisation des «daara» à partir d'une étude documentaire et d'une enquête de terrain réalisée au Sénégal en juillet et août 2017.
Intimate links exist between political power, law and images. Theology, philosophy and law have always developed elaborate rules about visuality. The iconophilic and iconoclastic traditions complemented one another and combined to construct subjectivity and to reconcile humanity with finitude. In modernity, law replaced religion and philosophy conceptualised legality through the aesthetic category of the sublime. The law understands the importance of the governance of images for the maintenance of the social bond and helps organise a regime of permitted images and forbidden idols which amounts to a complex legal administration of aesthetics and a related aesthetic organisation of law. ; Κώστας ΔουζίναςΗ πολιτική εξουσία, ο νόμος και οι εικόνες συνδέονται στενά. Η θεολογία, η φιλοσοφία και το νομικό σύστημα είχαν από πάντα διαμορφώσει περίπλοκους κανόνες για τις εικόνες. Η εικονοφιλική και η εικονοκλαστική παράδοση, δρώντας συμπληρωματικά, συνδυάσθηκαν ώστε να κατασκευάσουν την υποκειμενικότητα και να συμφιλιώσουν την ανθρωπότητα με την περατότητα. Στη νεωτερικότητα, ο νόμος αντικατέστησε τη θρησκεία, ενώ η φιλοσοφία συνέλαβε τη νομιμότητα με'σω της αισθητικής κατηγορίας του υψηλού. Ο νόμος αντιλαμβάνεται τη σημασία που έχει ο έλεγχος των εικόνων για τη διατήρηση του κοινωνικού δεσμού και συνδράμει στην οργάνωση ενός καθεστώτος αποδεκτών εικόνων και απαγορευμένων ειδώλων, πράγμα που ισοδυναμεί με μια συνθέτη νομική δια- χείρηση της αισθητικής και με μια συναφή αισθητική οργάνωση του νόμου.

Πρώτον, να μελετήσει τους παράγοντες που εξηγούν τις κυβερνητικές δαπάνες, και δεύτερον, να κατανοήσει το πως διαμορφώνονται οι προτιμήσεις για την αναδιανομή του πλούτου. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο, χρησιμοποιώντας δεδομένα από διάφορες χώρες για την περίοδο 1970-2010, ερευνούμε εννιά διαφορετικές θεωρίες που επηρεάζουν το μέγεθος την κυβέρνησης, λαμβάνοντας υπόψιν την αβεβαιότητα της θεωρίας (theory uncertainty). Με τον όρο αβεβαιότητα της θεωρίας εννοούμε ότι οποιαδήποτε θεωρία η οποία επεξηγεί τις κυβερνητικές δαπάνες δεν μπορεί να αποκλείσει κάποια άλλη θεωρία από το να είναι σχετική. Άρα δεν υπάρχει μια εκ των προτέρων αιτιολόγηση για να επικεντρωθούμε σε κάποιο συγκεκριμένο υποσύνολο καθοριστικών παραγόντων που επεξηγούν τις κυβερνητικές δαπάνες. Προτείνουμε μια νέα μέθοδο Bayesian Model Averaging, για γραμμικά συστήματα παλινδρόμησης, η οποία επιτρέπει την ύπαρξη ενδογένειας των μεταβλητών. Τα ευρήματα μας υποδηλώνουν ότι οι συνολικές κυβερνητικές δαπάνες και οι διάφορες κατηγορίες τους μπορούν να εξηγηθούν μέσω πολλαπλών μηχανισμών που λειτουργούν ταυτοχρόνως, αλλά έχουν διαφορετική επίδραση σε ότι αφορά το μέγεθος και την σημαντικότητα τους. Συγκεκριμένα, για τις συνολικές δαπάνες της γενικής κυβέρνησης βρίσκουμε ότι η θεωρία που σχετίζεται με τα δημογραφικά στοιχεία της χώρας παίζει καθοριστικό παράγοντα στην διαμόρφωση τους. Σε ότι αφορά τις συνολικές δαπάνες της κεντρικής κυβέρνησης βρίσκουμε οτι καθοριστικό παράγοντα στη διαμόρφωση τους, εκτός από την θεωρία που σχετίζεται με τα δημογραφικά στοιχεία της χώρας, παίζουν οι θεωρίες αναφορικά με την εισοδηματική ανισότητα και την μακροοικονομική πολιτική. Τα αποτελέσματα αυτά είναι σύμφωνα με την ανάλυση διακύμανσης (variance decomposition analysis). Κάθε ένας από τους καθοριστικούς παράγοντες, με υψηλή ύστερη πιθανότητα ένταξης (posterior inclusion probability), \gr εξηγεί πάνω από 5% της διακύμανσης των κυβερνητικών δαπανών. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο, επικεντρωνόμαστε στον τρόπο διαμόρφωσης των προτιμήσεων αναδιανομής του πλούτου και μελετούμε πως αυτές επηρεάζονται από την κοινωνική ταυτότητα του ατόμου. Χρησιμοποιώντας δεδομένα από το General Social Survey και το γραμμικό μοντέλο κοινωνικών αλληλεπιδράσεων με την χρήση της κοινωνικοοικονομικής δομής του δικτύου, μελετούμε την επίδραση της κοινωνικής ταυτότητας του ατόμου πάνω σε μια σειρά κοινωνικοοικονομικών πεποιθήσεων συμπεριλαμβανομένων των προτιμήσεων για αναδιανομή, των πεποιθήσεων για την έκτρωση, τις διακρίσεις, τις κυβερνητικές υποχρεώσεις, το νομικό σύστημα, το πολιτικό σύστημα και τη θρησκεία. Firstly, to uncover the determinants that drive government spending, and secondly, to understand how preferences for redistribution are formed. In the first chapter, using country data for the period 1970 to 2010, we investigate nine alternative theories that determine government size, taking into account theory uncertainty. By theory uncertainty we mean that any given theory of government expenditure does not logically exclude other theories from also being relevant. Therefore, no a-priori justification exists for focusing on a specific subset of determinants. We propose a novel Bayesian model averaging method in linear regression systems that allows for endogeneity. Our findings suggest that government size and its components are explained by multiple mechanisms that work simultaneously but differ in their impact and importance. In particular, for general government total expenditure we find decisive evidence for the demography theory. In the case of central government total expenditure, we find that income inequality and macroeconomic policy play a decisive role, in addition to demography. Our results are in agreement with the variance decomposition analysis. The determinants that have a high posterior inclusion probability explain more than 5\% of the various expenditures components variation. In the second chapter, we focus on the formation of preferences for redistribution and study how they are affected by social identity. Using individual data form the General Social Survey, we employ the linear social interaction model with socioeconomic network structure to study the impact of social identity on a range of socioeconomic beliefs, including preferences for redistribution, beliefs on abortion, attitudes, discrimination, government duties, legal system, politics, and religion. We find strong evidence that social identity, in the form of endogenous social interactions, plays a major role in the formation of preferences for redistribution and a range of socioeconomic beliefs. In the third chapter, we investigate the presence of parameter heterogeneity and multiple regimes in the preferences for redistribution. We use data from the World Values Survey and we use the structural threshold regression model to allow for the endogeneity of the threshold variable. We find substantial evidence for the presence of multiple regimes in the formation of preferences for redistribution. In particular, we find that the mechanisms that generate multiple regimes are the mean country beliefs on redistributions, trust, fairness, the level of development, human capital, inequality, political institutions, religion, government stability and corruption.

Relations between Palestinians and Americans are often reduced to economic and political considerations. However, these are not enough to reflect the particularities of the relationship between the United States, Palestine and Israel. This article explores the religious aspect of these relations, by exploring evangelical Christian Zionism, which is currently estimated to account for around 40 million Americans. ; Relationships between the United States and Palestine are often reduced to economic or political dimensions. International audience Taking Paul Mus's idea of a "cadastral religion" as part of the socio-religious organisationof the "Asian base" further, we propose approaching rituals linked to the territorialprosperity of groups living on the margins of state power in the Chinese and Indian worldsin a comparative way. These rituals are organised around the recurring schema of a forceof place, both natural and wild, which was pacified by a founding ancestor who, along withhis descendants, became the sacrificers representing the entire community—a schemathe details and variations of which we have analysed. By legitimising the occupation of aspace by one group and promoting its fertility, these rituals are where many interlockingstakes are crystallised. These involve the sources of subsistence and the legitimacy tooccupy a territory and also membership and power-play forms, both within the group andin its relations with its neighbours and the umbrella power centres.
PhD research is based on two French language plays of 20th century, Jean-Claude Brisville's and Bernard da Costa's.These two contemporary writers present the conversation between exquisite personalities, who had a great impact on 17th, Descartes-Pascal, and on 18th century, Frédéric-Voltaire. The research method of our study is Lucien Goldmann's dialectic method, the genetic structuralism, which we use in order to analyze at first these charismatic personalities of 17th and 18th century and then to study the writers of 20th century. We tried to have a double Goldmann's approach, not only concerning the historical personalities, these ones both of philosophers and of philosophy amateurs, but also concerning the writers of 20th century. We proceed to the study of life- that means the attitude and the mentality of both heroes, always according to Goldmann's theory on which the whole approach is based. There is also a summary of each play so that we exam each conversation or better each debate between two historical figures, source of inspiration for both contemporary writers. These two plays reflect the philosophers' points of view of classical era at first and then of the French Enlightenment, through the debate between two personalities of each play, concerning not only their way of life but also their way of thinking and attitude. Consequently, we face both common points and different ones which make us accomplish a profound research. Under these conditions, the genetic structuralism is completed thanks to biographic information that Goldmann himself supports so that the writer-historian enriches all the aspects that he analyses independently his object. In conclusion, the debate analysis between two significant spirits helps us to conceive their philosophical ideas, political and social ones which represent not only their era but also the 20th century. At a time when the role of religion in reducing global conflicts and the authority of its leaders are being questioned, studies that would link religion and conflict may fill in a gap in knowledge. To address this gap, this study seeks to gain an understanding of Orlando Cardinal Quevedo's task and ministry of peacemaking in the long-running conflict in the Southern Mindanao region. Given the recent signing of the Bangsa Moro Organic Law as the highly expected solid basis for a peaceful and prosperous Mindanao, it is timely to look back and pay closer attention to the key role that he played as a peace advocate. To achieve this end, it organized and conducted a content analysis of his writings and interviews about peace and its imperatives. Findings show that his words, firmly rooted in the conflict's historical past and yet open to the realities of the present, encompassed and helped disclose his practical wisdom, consensus-driven approach, and Catholic perspectives of its underlying issues and challenges. The lessons and insights that are uncovered from his writings may serve as a grounded recipe for those who would follow in his footsteps to learn and re-appropriated in a hopefully not an unending task and ministry of peacemaking in today's world.
