H Επαγγελματική Εκπαίδευση και Κατάρτιση (ΕΕΚ) και η Διά Βίου Μάθηση (ΔΒΜ) βρίσκονται στο προσκήνιο της Ευρωπαϊκής εκπαιδευτικής πολιτικής, προς αντιμετώπιση της έλλειψης ενδιαφέροντος των μαθητών για τα αντικείμενα STEM και την αναδυόμενη ανάγκη της αγοράς εργασίας για νέες δεξιότητες. Πολλές από τις τεχνολογίες αιχμής, με εφαρμογή στην καθημερινή ζωή, βασίζονται ή συνδέονται με το διάστημα, ενώ το τελευταίο φαίνεται να προκαλεί το γνήσιο ενδιαφέρον των μαθητών. Ως εκ τούτου, η συσχετιζόμενη με το διάστημα εκπαίδευση, μπορεί να συνεισφέρει στις ως άνω ευρωπαϊκές στρατηγικές, ενεργώντας μεταξύ άλλων ως πόλος έλξης μαθητών στα πεδία STEM, καθώς και σε αντικείμενα που σχετίζονται με το περιβάλλον και τη γεωχωρική πληροφορία. Η παρούσα εργασία εστιάζει στην πληθώρα εκπαιδευτικών πηγών του Ευρωπαϊκού Οργανισμού Διαστήματος (ΕΟΔ) με θέμα την παρατήρηση της 1653 Γης από το διάστημα, οι οποίες είναι άμεσα προσβάσιμες, χωρίς κόστος, αλλά και διαθέσιμες σε διαφορετικές γλώσσες. Η αξιοποίησή τους στην ΕΕΚ και τη ΔΒΜ, ιδιαίτερα για την προώθηση των πεδίων STEM, καθώς και την ανάπτυξη πράσινων και γεωχωρικών δεξιοτήτων, θα επέφερε πολυδιάστατα και αμφίδρομα θετικά αποτελέσματα για την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και τον ΕΟΔ. Τέλος, προτείνεται η συνολική και σε βάθος αξιολόγηση της δυνητικής συνεισφοράς της διαστημικής εκπαίδευσης στην ΕΕΚ και τη ΔΒΜ. ; Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Life-Long Learning (LLL), stand at the forefront of Europe's strategic policies in Education, in response to the lack of students' interest in STEM and the emerging needs for new skills in the labour market. Space can be a particularly useful platform for attracting students to STEM, environmental as well as topics related to geospatial information, as many state-of-the-art technologies used in everyday life are space-based, while space seems to also be creating a genuine interest among most learners. This study focuses on the plethora of European Space Agency (ESA) Earth Observation (EO) education material readily accessible, at no cost and available in several languages. Undertaking the effort to optimize/extend the use of these existing EO educational resources also in VET and LLL, for promoting STEM subjects, as well as for the development of green and geospatial skills, would be to the mutual benefit of both ESA and the European Union. Finally, it is proposed that an assessment of the utility and potential for the overall ESA Education resources (other than EO), but also of other Space Agencies and relevant institutions active in space education, in VET and LLL would be of particular interest. Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η παρουσίαση στοιχείων και στατιστικών ενδείξεων σχετικά με τον τρόπο και το εύρος της επιρροής που τυχόν άσκησαν στους εταίρους της Ευρωπαϊκής Νομισματικής Ένωσης τα αρνητικά για την βιωσιμότητα του Ελληνικού χρέους γεγονότα και οι εξελίξεις στη μετάδοση της Ελληνικής κρίσης δημοσίου χρέους. Περιγράφεται ο τρόπος με τον οποίον οι σχετικές πληροφορίες εντοπίστηκαν, οργανώθηκαν με βάση τη χρονολογική τους σειρά και κατηγοριοποιήθηκαν ως θετικές η αρνητικές. Χρησιμοποιήθηκε μία μελέτη πολλαπλών γεγονότων (event study) βραχυπρόθεσμου χρονικού ορίζοντα επίπτωσης. Η μελέτη βασίστηκε στην εκτίμηση ελαχίστων τετραγώνων υποδειγμάτων στατιστικής παλινδρόμησης τα οποία καθορίστηκαν για κάθε χώρα με μεταβλητές ελέγχου για εξωγενείς κινδύνους και μεταβλητότητα, με σκοπό την εκτίμηση της ευαισθησίας των Ασφαλίστρων Συμβολαίων Ανταλλαγής Κινδύνου Κρατικής Χρεοκοπίας και των Περιθωρίων Απόδοσης Κρατικών Ομολόγων στην πραγματοποίηση τέτοιου είδους συμβάντων, κατά τη διάρκεια διαφορετικών υποπεριόδων μιας ευρύτερης 3ετούς περιόδου με ημερομηνία έναρξης τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2009. Τα αρνητικά αυτά γεγονότα αναπαριστώνται με μια εκφυλισμένη διακριτή δυαδική μεταβλητή, της οποίας αναλύεται η στατιστική σημαντικότητα και ισχύς (συντελεστής παλινδρόμησης). Τα αποτελέσματα υποδηλώνουν ότι η μεταβλητότητα των Ασφαλίστρων 5ετών Συμβολαίων Ανταλλαγής Κινδύνου Κρατικής Χρεοκοπίας και των Περιθωρίων των 10ετών Κρατικών Ομολόγων, αποδίδεται σε αρνητικά γεγονότα σχετιζόμενα με το Ελληνικό Δημόσιο χρέος, με τρόπο συνεπή και όχι αμελητέο, κατά τη διάρκεια σημαντικών και διαφορετικών χρονικών περιόδων. Η αγορά των Ασφαλίστρων Συμβολαίων Ανταλλαγής Κινδύνων Κρατικής Χρεοκοπίας, φαίνεται να ενσωματώνει την πληροφορία των εν λόγω συμβάντων πιο πριν από ότι η αγορά Κρατικού χρέους ενώ οι χώρες του πυρήνα της Ευρωπαϊκής Νομισματικής Ένωσης, είναι πιο ευαίσθητες σε αυτά μετά το μέσο της συνολικής περιόδου ανάλυσης της εργασίας αυτής, σε σχέση με τα κράτη της λεγόμενης «περιφέρειας». ; This paper intents to provide insight and statistical evidence, on how and at what extent, facts and developments unfavorable to the Greek debt sustainability and solvency, may have influenced in the export of the Greek debt crisis to the country's EMU peers. The paper describes how relevant information has been tracked, chronologically organized and classified as adverse or not. A multiple, short term horizon event study, based on the estimation of LS regression models, specified for each country and controlled for market driven volatility and risk, is used to assess various EMU members CDS premia and BYS sensitivity to such events, throughout different sub-periods of a 3 year period, starting on September 2009. These adverse events are modeled via a time series Dummy variable, whose statistical significance and contribution (regression coefficient) is analyzed. The results suggest that 5 Year CDS premia and 10 Year Bond BYS variability is attributed to Greek debt related shocks, in a consistent, material way throughout major and diverse time periods. The CDS market incorporates shocks in advance of the Bond market and core EMU members are more sensitive to Greek shocks than the EMU periphery after the middle of the period under review.

Summary The practices of making home such as cooking, constructing and informally connecting to services are an essential part of women's daily lives in informal settlements in Viña del Mar, Chile. Women's practices and speeches around 'home', however, are a poorly researched topic that can provide valuable information to analyse gender relationships in socio-spatial production of the informal habitat. Through an ethnographic approach, using visual and participatory methods, the article presents empirical data produced in the two largest informal settlements in Chile. The results show that practices are not only survival strategies, but are intrinsically political. The article provides a three-dimensional analytical framework that classifies homelessness practices into home building, maintenance and planning practices. With a commitment to gender and urban justice, the article's analytical and methodological approach contributes to the recognition of women's efforts in the fight for housing in Chile. ; Resumen Las prácticas de hacer hogar tales como cocinar, construir y conectarse informalmente a los servicios son parte fundamental de la vida cotidiana de las mujeres en los asentamientos informales en Viña del Mar, Chile. Summary: Personal identification has forced individuals to have multiple passwords, tokens and personal identification numbers or documents, which have proved not to be the most suitable for online activities. Biometric technologies have offered efficient forms of identification and validation, but have also proved to be unsafe in the face of possible transgressions or misuse by controllers. While there is legislation to regulate this information, it is still limited. With the new European General Data Protection Regulation, the protection of biometric data is expected to be extended to all countries, so that current security, privacy and human rights risks and challenges are mitigated. ; Resumen: La identificación personal ha obligado a los individuos a tener múltiples contraseñas, tokens y números o documentos personales de identificación, que han resultado no ser lo más adecuado para actividades en línea. Las tecnologías biométricas han ofrecido formas de identificación y validación eficientes, pero también han resultado ser inseguras ante posibles trasgresiones o mal uso que pudieran realizar los controladores. Si bien existe legislación para reglamentar esta información, resulta todavía limitada. Con el nuevo Reglamento General de Protección de Datos europeo, se espera que se extienda la protección de los datos biométricos a todos los países, para que los riesgos y retos actuales sobre seguridad, privacidad y derechos humanos sean atenuados.
International audience This essay reflects on Ed Herman"s legacy by connecting his intellectual background to the anti-fascist project within the political economic tradition of communication research. Given that one of the authors (Todd Wolfson) was good friends with Ed and worked with him on independent media, we also consider how he applied his radical critique to local activist projects in Philadelphia. This analysis helps underscore the fact that Ed Herman"s insights hold much contemporary relevance for the many political problems facing American and global society today.
