The article deals with the implementation of the legal principles ofinternational economic law in trade and economic relations of the European Unionand third world countries. In particular, it analyzes the Yaound Conventions, whichimply the gradual abolition of all restrictions on the mutual trade of the participatingcountries, as well as the removal of barriers to the movement of capital and labor. However, in the context of economic imbalances, the Yaound agreements failed toensure the protection of the interests of developing countries despite their formalequality with the EEC countries due to the lack of unilateral benefits that would offsetthe apparent inequality of economic opportunities. The article also examines the following agreements between developing and theEU countries. For example, the Loma Agreements proclaimed the establishment of ajust economic order in the world, which had to be based on new principles, inparticular the principle of non-reciprocity that is, granting privileges and preferencesto developing countries. However, because of high inflation, EU liberalizationpolicies, unfavorable external market conditions, TNCs' influence and EU policy, theLoma agreements did not reach their targets, although they helped the member statesto strengthen their positions compared to other developing countries. The article also analyzes the Cotton Treaty (2000). It was in line with the goals andprinciples of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and was called upon to move fromunilateral preferences to a system based on reciprocity. The Treaty's stated objectives ofrespect for human rights and democratic freedoms, as well as the regime of fair rule, which later used by the EU countries to exert political pressure on counterparties and didnot affect the improving economic situation of developing countries. The article also describes the current stage of the development of the EUrelations with developing countries. The study concludes that legal regulation ofeconomic relations between the EU countries and third world countries is imperfectand that there is a unilateral advantage for the EU countries in such relations ; В статті в історичній ретроспективі досліджуєтьсядотримання принципів міжнародного економічного права в теорії та практиціторговельно-економічного співробітництва між Європейським Союзом такраїнами що розвиваються, зокрема, державами - колишніми колоніями ЄС
