АНГЛИЙСКИЙ ЯЗЫК КАК ЯЗЫК МЕЖДУНАРОДНОГО ОБЩЕНИЯ: КОМУ ПРИНАДЛЕЖИТ АНГЛИЙСКИЙ ЯЗЫК СЕГОДНЯ?
Статья посвящена актуальной проблеме использования английского языка в качестве языка международного общения. Эта проблема особенно важна в связи с тем, что процесс глобализации мирового пространства невозможен без наличия языка, на котором могли бы общаться все люди планеты. Авторы статьи раскрывают сущность понятия «мировой язык», ссылаясь на определение этого термина в целом ряде лингвистических словарей и справочников, а так в работах О.С. Ахмановой. Они выявляют причины, приведшие к тому, что английский язык приобрел статус глобального. Вслед за Дэвидом Кристалом определяют три пути, которые могут привести к тому, что язык приобретет статус глобального. Авторы статьи отмечают, что английский язык имеет все качества, чтобы быть «мировым языком». В статье раскрываются особенности использования английского языка в качестве международного. Приводится статистика количества людей, говорящих в мире на английском языке. О.Р. Жерновская, А.И. Латышева и Н.С. Лобанова отмечают, что английскому языку сопутствовала историческая удача. В настоящее время он надежно закрепился в языках стран мира. Процесс глобализации, затрагивающий напрямую английский язык, несет за собой целый ряд преимуществ, но в то же время вызывает к жизни ряд проблем, актуальных как для людей, использующий английский язык в качестве иностранного, так и для носителей английского языка. Статья написана доступным научным языком, все положения и выводы обоснованы; может представлять интерес для широкого круга читателей. Статья в полной мере соответствует требованиям, предъявляемым к научным работам, и может быть рекомендована к публикации в научных журналах, в том числе в журналах из перечня ВАК. ; The article reveals the essence of the concept of "international language. We consider the reasons that nominated English for the role of the world language. We prove that under current conditions there is a need for a language that would allow people of the planet to carry out communication. According to the authors of the article, in order for a language to get a global status it is necessary that its special role has been recognized in most countries. The article gives a detailed description of the three ways for a language to acquire this status. The authors argue that in order for a language to get a global status, the nation of native speakers should have a sustainable social status, a stable political, economic and military situation. It is noted that the English language has passed all three stages of globalization: it is the first language; it has the official status and is dominant among the studied languages. The article presents statistical data confirming the unique international status of the English language. English prevails in science, media, business, economics, sports, education, entertainment, diplomacy. The authors identify several stages in the spread of the English language and characterize it. However, they are convinced that the global status of English is due not only to historical, but also to linguistic factors. The English language has a number of advantages over other languages. The article notes that the transformation of the English language into the global one creates some difficulties for those who are not native speakers from birth. English-speaking nations (in particular Americans) do not always take into account this factor because of their ethnocentricity. The globalization of the English language also adversely affects the positions of national culture of those countries where English is not the primary language. The article refers to the concerns of scientists due to the dominance of English in science and education. The use of English as the language of international communication hinders its variability.
