António Sardinha, a transnational thinker of the counter-revolution (1913-1925) ; António Sardinha, un penseur transnational de la contre-révolution (1913-1925)
António Sardinha (1887-1925), mentor of the Portuguese traditionalist monarchist movement of Lusitanian integralism is the object of study of this doctoral thesis. Through the study of numerous printed sources and private archives, it proposes first a critical study of the main ideas that emerge from the political work of Sardinha, by placing them in their context, and then a focus on his « hispanicism ». The thesis shows how this side of his work has consolidated his status as both an important and controversial thinker of the Portuguese radical right of the early twentieth century. Finally, the last part of the thesis studies the influence and intellectual legacy of Sardinha in Portugal but also in Spain and Brazil in the first half of the 20th century.

In: Caravelle: cahiers du monde hispanique et luso-brésilien, Band 76, Heft 1, S. 411-420
ISSN: 2272-9828
ABSTRACT- Women in New Spain followed very strict rules of behaviour, and even more so the nuns who depended upon their confessors and their priests. Their way of acting was conducted and, still worst, their way of thinking too, depriving them of their physical and mental liberty. Flaunting their defence and their practice of chastity, the archbishop Águias y Seijas and the Jesuit Antonio Nunez considered women hateful and avoided their presence as much as possible. Several pieces of writing by father Núñez show his intolerance and his opinions about the nuns who confessed themselves to him ; only one, the best well known among them, Sor Juana, refused to accept his orders and broke away completely, claiming her liberty.
