Just after the end of the struggles for consolidation of the Independence, Lithuanian Army began care about development of military science. In addition to other sciences, a great attention was paid to applications of mathematics in military arts. In 1922-1940, journal of military science and history "Mūsų žinynas" ("Our Directory") published 87 articles about various applications of mathematics in the Army. They included 27 articles on application of mathematics in military topography. The articles were written by 14 known and 1 unknown authors. 14 known authors included 12 army officers and 2 civilians. ; Karo mokslų ir istorijos žurnale "Mūsų žinynas" 1922–1940 m. buvo paskelbti 87 straipsniai apie įvairius matematikos taikymus kariuomenėje. Iš tų straipsnių 27 buvo skirti matematikos taikymams karo topografijoje. Tuos straipsnius parašė 15 autorių: 12 karininkų, 2 civiliai ir 1 nežinomas.

JACK LEVY ARGUES THAT THE OFFENSIVE/DEFENSIVE BALANCE NEEDS TO BE DEFINED MORE EXPLICITLY AND RIGOROUSLY BEFORE IT CAN BE USED IN HISTORICAL ANALYSIS. THIS ARTICLE OFFERS A MORE EXPLICIT AND RIGOROUS THEORY OF THE OFFENSIVE/ DEFENSIVE BALANCE BASED ON HEMBOLD CONVENTIONAL WAR EQUATIONS AND INTRILIGATOR NUCLEAR WAR EQUATIONS. IT OPERATIONALLY DEFINES THE OFFENSIVE/ DEFENSIVE BALANCE BASED ON WEAPONS CHARACTERISTICS, GEOGRAPHY, MILITARY ORGANIZATION, PERCEPTIONS OF DECISIONMAKERS, AND, TO SOME EXTENT, TACTICS. ITS OFFENSIVE/DEFENSIVE THEORY ILLUSTRATES THE VALIDITY OF MANY OF LEVY'S CRITICISMS OF OFFENSIVE/DEFENSIVE CONCEPT IN HISTORICAL STUDIES, SOLVES SOME OF THE CONCEPTUAL PROBLEMS, AND PROVIDES A STRONGER THEORETICAL FOUNDATION FOR ANALYSTS WHO WILL EMPLOY THE CONCEPT IN FUTURE STUDIES.

Mathematics has always been a difficult issue, especially in the African countries. Mozambique is not an exception. This country had been colonized by Portugal until 1975. When the independence was obtained, a socialist regime was adopted (1977). The learning of mathematics entered the struggle against colonial and imperialistic ideas. Its best ally was Paulus Gerdes, one of the most relevant ethnomatematicians of the world, who carried out an intense promotion of this approach to mathematics in Mozambican school system. Albeit the great international impact of Gerdes' ideas, Mozambique never implemented his methodology. When, at the end of the 80s, the country changed from socialism to liberalism, voting a democratic Constitution in 1990, its school system was aligned to the measures of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). The most recent ones are represented by the Millennium Development Goals. Despite the various reforms of Mozambican school system, the results of Mozambican children in mathematics are among the worst in Africa. The reasons of such a failure are here explained, through a historical approach based on national documents. The most recent experiences of school reform carried out by international agencies together with national institutions are stressed. The negative results obtained by the Mozambican learners as to mathematics are due to several reasons: 1) a lack of consideration of the Mozambican cultural substrate; 2) an improper massification of the school system, where the quality of instruction has been neglected; 3) the specific choice to marginalize mathematics education. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Among these, 28 articles were issued on application of mathematics in military topography, 28 – in artillery, 14 – in weaponry of infantrymen, 14 – in aviation and air defence artillery, and 3 – on use of mathematics for other purposes. The articles were written by 41 known and 3 unknown authors. Among the 41 known authors, there were 39 army officers and 2 civilians. In their work, the majority of authors used methods of elementary mathematics as a base; some authors applied methods of higher mathematics. Almost all of the latter were also lecturing at schools of higher education. In their articles, the majority of the authors built upon the experience of foreign armed forces (Russia and the Western world) and works of famous foreign mathematicians. The fate of authors of the articles was typical to all intelligentsia of the independent Republic of Lithuania in the pre-war period and especially to its most patriotic part – the officers: forced emigration to the West, exile and imprisonment in the East, or struggle and heroic death in the post-war partisan battles. Only very few of the authors had a chance to apply their knowledge in civilian activities, as subsequent to the occupation of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Armed Forces were dismissed and further activities in military arts became impossible.

В статията са разгледани методическите идеи у нас, свързани с основните учебни дейности в различните степени на математическото образование. Акцентира се върху систематизацията на учебните дейности в началното обучение по математика, изградена на основата на предложения за пръв път в страната от проф. д.н. Иван Ганчев вариант на цялостна система от основни учебни дейности в урока по математика. Обхванати са идеите и на проф. д-р Илия Гюдженов, който разглежда лекциите и семинарните упражнения по математика като системи от дейности. Анализирани са сходствата и разликите в групите основни дейности между различните системи – в началните класове, в средното образование и във висшето училище.

The substantial advantage of 3D printing is the ability to fabricate complex shapes objects from liquid molecules or powder grains which joins or solidifies using computer design files (CAD) to produce a three-dimensional object with material being added together layer by layer. This process is considered as an industrial technology. The most-commonly used 3D printing procedure is a material extrusion technique called fused deposition modelling. The producers of 3D printers have already developed prototypes for education purposes. The importance of the incorporation this printing method in schools is the fact. The learning experience for digital media is becoming a priority in school education. The practical application of this technique can be incorporated into a wide variety of school subjects to simplify the sophisticated theoretical concepts. 3D printing is the example of cooperation within material science and mathematics but this platform is very often not supported by the high school curriculum, but latest trends propose different approaches and make education close to the science achievements and contemporary life. Building lessons plans and project could help students to learn more contemporary achievement in this field. It is new trend to support enthusiastic teachers who want to implement this method of additive manufacturing in education. This paper provides an overview of 3D printing methods and highlights the possibility of their implementation in educational techniques.

Economic and mathematical model of price fluctuations influence on economic interests of basic market relations agents (represented by state, enterprises and households) is built. Factors of influence on price fluctuations and agent's welfare decrease are determined. On a basis of calculation of Kendall's concordance coefficient, conclusions about links absence between economic interests of market relations agents (in conditions of prices formation and governmental price regulation) are formed.

The aim of this study is to investigate the challenges facing the planning of mathematics programme in Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research survey design. The population of the study comprised ninety (90) respondents. Stratified and systematic sampling technique was used to select the sample population. The study employed the used of questionnaire as instrument for data collection. Two lecturers from Educational Administration and planning from University of Abuja was consulted to validate the questionnaire. Three research questions and two hypotheses were developed for the study. Test-retest reliability was employed for the study. Percentage and Chi-square test was used to test the hypotheses and data collected from the study. The result revealed that there are challenges facing the planning of mathematics programme of senior secondary education and the challenges includes; inadequate data/information to plan, inadequate funding of planning of mathematics programme, poor capacity development of few mathematics planners, inadequate professional mathematics planners ,political instability, corruption and lack of political will to support planning of mathematics education. The study concluded that the implication of the challenges on the implementation mathematics education is poor implementation of the mathematics programme in the senior secondary schools. The study recommends that the government should increase the funding of educational planning in the country especially mathematics education.
