Human-Human discussions analysis in arabic ; Analyse des discussions Homme-Homme en arabe
This thesis deals with human conversations analysis specifically the Arabic political debates. The main objective is to study the argumentative aspects present in such discussions in order to identify conflicts, the exchange of opinions, acceptances and rejects of the ideas discussed throughout the dialogue. To perform this task, we focus on the recognition of dialogue acts which project the intention of the speaker and the context of utterance. We proposed an annotation scheme that reflects the communicative and argumentative structure of political debates. The proposed method is based mainly on the CRF models that take into account dependencies between words in the same utterance. These models were applied to the two tasks of segmentation and annotation of dialogue acts. The evaluation results are promising and confirm the effectiveness of CRF models for tasks of segmentation and labeling of sequential data.

AMAZIGH-SPEAKING AND ARABIC-SPEAKING IN MOROCCO TODAY ; AMAZIGHOPHONES ET ARABOPHONES AU MAROC D'AUJOURD'HUI
; Modern Morocco has recently developed a language politics that is open to dialectal Arabic and Amazigh (Berber) languages. This article offers the results of a field survey carried out with 569 Moroccan students at the beginning of the third millennium. The aim of that survey was to establish the vitality of the Amazigh language among those youngsters and to detect eventual differences between the sociolinguistic profiles of Arabophone and Amazighophone students. One thing turned out to be sure: the Amazigh language is far from dead and the Imazighen (Berbers) should take the opportunity to revitalize their language and culture.

Arabic and Islamic studies in Europe and beyond: proceedings of the 26th Congress of the Union Européenne des Arabisants et Islamisants, Basel 2012
In: Orientalia Lovaniensia analecta 248
This volume presents the proceedings of the 26th Conference of the 'Union Europeenne des Arabisants et Islamisants' that took place in Basel, Switzerland, in September 2012. The theme of the volume, "Arabic and Islamic Studies in Europe and Beyond", indicates that research in Arabic and Islamic Studies is not only carried out in Europe but also in many non-European regions of the world. Furthermore, it expresses that Muslim history no longer represents an exclusive field of research remote from public attention. Nevertheless, the focus of Arabic and Islamic Studies is still highly specialized, calling on researchers to devote their academic lives to learning and practicing the major (and minor) languages of Islamic history and culture. In this regard, Arabic and Islamic Studies need to find an equilibrium, again and again, between disciplinary immersion and intellectual openness. The present collection contributes to these endeavors and struggles while reflecting the highly variegated nature of research in Islamic and Arabic Studies
