Francesco Sansovino, real name Francesco Tratti (1512 - 1586), son of Jacopo Sansovino, Italian scholar, poet and author. He was a very productive author of historical and philosophical writings. Among his works are "Del governo dei regni e delle repubbliche", on the forms of government in italy and "Origini e fatti delle famiglie illustri d´Italia", a description of italy's leading cities and noble families. His 14 volume "Venetia" (1581) was the first attempt to give an overview of the art and architecture of Venice, including the works of his father. ; Francesco Sansovino, eigentlicher Name Francesco Tatti (1512 - 1586) war ein Sohn von Jacopo Sansovino und italienischer Gelehrter, Dichter und Autor. Er war ein sehr produktiver Dichter und Autor historischer und philosophischer Schriften. Zu seinen Werken zählen "Del governo dei regni e delle repubbliche", eine Schrift über die Regierungsformen in Italien und "Origini e fatti delle famiglie illustri d´Italia", eine Beschreibung von Italiens führenden Städten und ihren Adelsfamilien. Sein vierzehn-bändiges "Venetia" (1581) war der erste Versuch, einen Überblick über die Kunst und Architektur dieser Stadt (einschließlich der Werke seines Vaters) zu schaffen.
