We already entered the era of Unmanned Vehicles, drones, boats and more recently cars are going to be "driven" by software, sensors, cameras, radars and more are the senses of our vehicles. If the risk that a flying or floating drone can be hacked is concerning us as well as the temporary lack of specific legislation, what about the concerns related to ethical and moral aspects, not neglecting the legal ones, concerning autonomous road vehicles such as cars and buses ? Safety and security standards for such devices are not set actually, how will behave two cars, both from the same builder or not, in case of imminent collision? Of course, the cyber-driver is supposed to be perfect but the environment may introduce some bias, hence on the moral and ethical side how will the cyber-driver take decisions? As an additional concern, today even cars may be subject to cyber-attacks as it already happened to Jeep vehicles in the United States, if on one side the regular car service or re-call for update can be performed through the permanent car connection to the Internet, no more need to physically take the car back to the service (this might lead to unwanted outcomes), on the other side in case of cyber-attacks our car might behave in a unpredictable way. As a consequence, possibly before a mass diffusion of such vehicles, we must be aware about some aspects: the risk of cyber-attacks that may turn everyday commodities like cars into "weapons" and the "programmed" behaviour of cars in case of "risky" scenarios. Security standards and harmonised "behaviours" together with an appropriate legal framework will probably help.

Human annihilation has never been so easy. Artificial intelligence-guided genetic-engineered nanotechnology and robotics (AI-GNR) are widely recognized as our most transformative technological revolution ever, yet we do not even have a common moral language to unite our pluralistic world to prevent an AI apocalypse should this revolution explode out of our control. This book is the first known comprehensive global bioethical analysis of AI and AI-GNR by defining the Thomistic-Aristotelian personalist foundation of the rights and duties-based social contract framework of the United Nations, and then applying it to AI. This technical report is underpinning the European added value assessment by the European Parliament Research Service on "European framework on ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, robotics and related technologies". The report can be found in the attachment to the said assessment. The European Union, through legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation, has looked to implement new rules for the digital economy that protect citizens fundamental rights and meets both existing and emerging ethical standards. While many studies have examined the social implications of legislation designed to protect rights in emerging domains such as artificial intelligence and robotics, few have considered the economic implications of an ethical framework. While some researchers and practitioners argue that legislation designed to protect citizens have an economic cost, this study demonstrates that an ethical framework for artificial intelligence – by helping to further social acceptance of new technologies and providing other benefits– not only helps maintain ethical standards, but also creates net economic benefits. By 2030, an ethical legislative framework for artificial intelligence and robotics could create between 3.3-4.6 million jobs and add €221-299 billion to the European economy.

As our society embraces expanding forms of personal and health monitoring, particularly with the use of artificial intelligence (AI), how may these technologies change the way we define what it means to live a free and healthy life? Drawing on the examples of home health monitoring, direct-to-consumer health apps, and medication adherence monitoring, this book explores the socio-relational contexts that are framing the promotion of AI health monitoring, and the potential consequences of the proliferation of these technologies. It argues for a relational conception of autonomy and explores how socio-systemic conditions shape the cultural meanings of personal responsibility, healthy living and aging, trust, and caregiving in the era of big data and AI. This book proposes ethical strategies that can help preserve and promote people's relational autonomy in the digital era.

"The article is devoted to the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence functioning. The problem of the safe coexistence of man and artificial intelligence is taking on increasing importance. The definition of artificial intelligence and the explanation of the difference between weak, strong artificial intelligence and super-intelligence are given. The first ethical problem of artificial intelligence functioning is the existential question of human redundancy due to the spread of artificial intelligence. The article emphasizes that artificial intelligence, on the one hand, frees a person from certain areas of activity, facilitating their existence, on the other hand, it makes them superfluous in production and in personal life. The second is the problem of responsibility for the actions of artificial intelligence. The article argues for the necessity of human responsibility for the actions of artificial intelligence because artificial intelligence does not have consciousness. The third problem is the intensification of the phenomenon of stupidity in society. Artificial intelligence creates the conditions for the increasing cleverness of some segments of the population and stupidity of others, which can result in even greater mental and property inequality.
