The aging of the population in Germany has led to growing concerns among politicians about the economic situation of households with children. This is also reflected in the recent tax policy debate on reforming the taxation of families and married couples. The purpose of this paper is threefold. We use a micro­simulation approach to analyse how various reforms of family taxation would affect the incomes of families compared to singles and married couples without children. Moreover, we address the distributional effects across different income deciles. Finally, we quantify tax revenue effects as well as possible consequences for labour supply. We focus on limited real income splitting systems.
The simulation results show that limited real income splitting produces rather moderate vertical distributional effects, compared e.g. with the joint family income splitting of the French type. Furthermore real income splitting would lower the marginal tax rate on the second earner's income, creating incentives to take up employment. It would also generate additional tax revenue.

Tax systems of both Germany and other European countries are often subject to tax reforms. On the one hand, tax systems should be economically efficient, i.e., they should not involve welfare losses or lead to distortions of decisions. Im Forschungsfeld der globalen Sozialpolitik wird davon ausgegangen, dass Wohlfahrtspolitik, die bisher die Domäne von Nationalstaaten war, auf internationale und globale Politik ausgedehnt wird, und zwar durch internationale nichtsstaatliche Organisationen und andere globale Akteure. Der vorliegende Beitrag befasst sich mit der Sozialhilfe als globaler Sozialpolitik. Die erste Frage, die in diesem Zusammenhang untersucht wird, ist, ob sich das globale sozialpolitische Paradigma auf die Sozialhilfe bezieht. In einer zweiten Frage werden die Auswirkungen der Globalisierung der Sozialhilfe auf die Sozialpolitik im Allgemeinen beleuchtet. Zunächst werden das Konzept und die unterschiedlichen Formen von Sozialhilfe definiert. Im zweiten Abschnitt geht es um die Sozialhilfe im globalen Kontext, wobei der Autor sowohl Industrie- als auch Entwicklungsländer betrachtet. Im dritten Abschnitt geht es um die unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen von Sozialhilfe und die Auswirkungen von staatlichen Transferleistungen in verschiedenen Regionen, die dann im nächsten Teil miteinander verglichen werden, um mögliche politische Erfahrungen daraus abzuleiten. This article presents the current datafication processes in the field of health as a new form of health coordination. Methodologically, the conceptual foundation of the article is embedded in neopragmatist thinking and mainly informed by the "economics of convention" (EC). At the beginning, it is made clear that the datafication processes in the health system and in people's everyday lives are primarily a future vision that has high hopes for improving and controlling health. The aim of the article is to analyze the current effects of these mobilization processes and to show that with datafication processes, a new coordination mode of a digital daily health is introduced. To this end, the new form of digital daily health is being introduced. For this purpose, its characteristics are described and its relevance for coordination processes is shown. After that, the intersection between the new form of digital daily health and individual health will be analyzed. Finally, the consequences of this new health coordination form will be shown on an individual level as well as on the level of political economy of health.

Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, Licht auf den europäischen Hexenwahn des 14. und 15. Jahrhunderts zu werfen. Hierzu werden zwei Gruppen von Theorien evaluiert. Es wird deutlich, daß es unterschiedliche Muster der Hexenverfolgung vor und nach dem Jahr 1420 gibt und daß unterschiedliche Regionen von demographischen Faktoren beeinflußte Muster von Hexerei aufweisen. Diese demographischen Faktoren beziehen sich auf das Zusammenspiel von urbanen Charakteristika und Hexenjagd. Weitere Forschungsanstrengungen sollten die Rolle von Urbanisierungsprozessen bei der Analyse der Hexenverfolgung stärker berücksichtigen. (ICEÜbers)
