The aim was to establish a causal structural model to examine consumers' addictive consumption decisions about tobacco. It was found that a consumer forms his/her risk perception based on three information sources. Moreover, a consumer's risk perception can directly influence his/her
attitude toward cigarette smoking and also indirectly influence his/her intention to start smoking. From this study, managerial implications for public health professionals and for tobacco manufacturers can be drawn. For the former, it was found that: (i) antismoking advertising should intensively
focus on escalating consumer risk perception and should be targeted toward males, the elderly, or persons with less education; and (ii) antismoking advertising and campaigns should be directed towards encouraging less addicted smokers to cease smoking. For the latter, tobacco manufacturers
should employ social marketing techniques encouraging people not to smoke in public areas and discouraging young people from smoking.

Introduction. In modern pedagogical science, there is a contradiction, which lies in the fact that, on the one hand, researchers pay a lot of attention to the problem of the growth of addictive behavior of young people, and, on the other hand, practice shows a steady increase in all types of addictions. Theoretical analysis. The study of scientific and pedagogical literature allows us to outline the strategy and tactics of experimental work and to form the necessary starting points on which the main directions for improving the socio-pedagogical prevention of addictive behavior of students will be based. Еmpirical analysis. An analysis of the implementation of socio-pedagogical prevention of addictive behavior among students revealed that the vast majority of teachers who are curators of student groups are not ready to implement the prevention of addictive behavior of students. The survey revealed the main reasons that make it difficult to prevent the addictive behavior of students. Among all types of psychoactive substances, it is most difficult for young people to give up smoking; there is a loyal attitude towards alcohol consumption. Conclusion. The levels of addictive behavior of students indicate unwillingness to refuse the offer of chemical addictions from the society. The responses received from teachers demonstrate that they need information education and organizational support to improve the effectiveness of preventive activities.

In economic analyses of addictive behavior, the consumption of a certain good is termed to be an addiction if an increase in past consumption of the good leads to an increase in current consumption. From policy, legal, and public health perspectives, addictive goods are of interest because the consumption of many of these goods harms the consumer and others. The U.S. government and those of many other countries have chosen to regulate such addictive substances as cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana by means of policies that raise their prices. Consequently, the responsiveness of these substances to price is an important parameter in determining the optimal level of taxation or the impacts of legalization of cocaine or marijuana. The economics of addiction is very relevant to these issues because recent theoretical advances predict that addictive goods should be more sensitive to price than previously believed. Current empirical studies confirm this prediction.
