A new definition of applied sociology as a science that studies specific laws governing the development & function of concrete social structures, processes, systems, organizations, & their components. Some laws of applied sociology are formulated. The process of the progressive development of applied sociology in Byelorussia is shown, & basic research problems are indicated. Data on the changing social structure of the republic are presented; also regarding the changed structure of the family, particularly Ru family. Of particular research importance are problems of social management, socialist competition, change in the content & nature of work, the role of the working collective in the formation of a many-sided & harmoniously developed personality. Methods of observation, survey, & documentary analysis were used. Sampling was done using the quota method, where, as a rule, 10% of the total was included. AA Tr by S. Karganovic.
