While postmodernism remains an ambiguous and messy phenomenon to represent, it also remains a compelling prophetic voice in the ongoing development of contemporary biblical studies. In 'Critical Entanglements: Postmodern Theory and Biblical Studies', Andrew P. Wilson tracks the various strands of postmodernism threaded through the discipline, drawing on a range of evocative biblical readings as well as key examples from the art world. Wilson demonstrates that the scholarly "entanglement" with postmodern theory provides a valuable critical sensibility to biblical readings, and referring to specific examples from reception history, one that has the potential to showcase biblical studies at its best. When it comes to reading practices, scholarly voices and identities, postmodern theory shows that biblical scholarship is ethically oriented and has an expansive sense of the text and textual effects. Wilson plots the distinctive ways in which postmodern theory has shaped scholarship of the bible while continuing to beckon in unanticipated ways from unexpected vantage points

In Apostles of Revolution? Marxism and Biblical Studies, Christina Petterson introduces central topics of Marxist historical analysis, and connects it with the broad history of Marxism as a political movement. Through this lens, she examines biblical scholarship and its engagement with Marxist categories of analysis.
Cultural, historical and political differences play a major role in epistemology and hermeneutics, and therefore in all understanding. If such differences are not catered for in the construction of syllabi for Biblical Studies the result is cultural, historical and political imperialism. The subject is then also rendered irrelevant pupils from a background different from that of the planners. It is argued that a more inclusive and problem orientated approach should be followed in the construction of syllabi for Biblical Studies to allow differently informed epistemologies and hermeneutical convictions to interact in a deconstructive manner in order to encourage an eventual reconstruction of a more unified approach to the subject in South Africa.

The cognitive science of religion that has emerged over the last twenty years is a multidisciplinary field that often challenges established theories in anthropology and comparative religion. This new approach raises many questions for biblical studies as well. What are the cross-cultural cognitive mechanisms which explain the transmission of biblical texts? How did the local and particular cultural traditions of ancient Israel and early Christianity develop? What does the embodied and socially embedded nature of the human mind imply for the exegesis of biblical texts? "Mind, Morality and Magic" draws on a range of approaches to the study of the human mind - including memory studies, computer modeling, cognitive theories of ritual, social cognition, evolutionary psychology, biology of emotions, and research on religious experience. The volume explores how cognitive approaches to religion can shed light on classical concerns in biblical scholarship - such as the transmission of traditions, ritual and magic, and ethics - as well as uncover new questions and offer new methodologies.
The Journal discuss on the problem of Trinity as a doctrine that underlies Christian faith. Trinity is a delusion theological doctrine which is ambiguous and enforced. Al-Qur'an criticize the confusion of trinity as a doctrinal astray of human invention which has no basis teaching from Allah's which has triggered conflicts within the Christian body itself. Through the method on historical criticism that is based on Qur'anic studies and the Biblical studies the confusion of Trinitarian doctrine is revealed in two aspects both are Political aspects, and the deviation of the source of religious teachings. The political interests of the Roman Emperor Constantine in strengthening the influence of his power proved to influence the formulation of the doctrine of the trinity at the Council of Nicaea 325 C.E. The influence of Roman power in the doctrine was the inclusion of the teachings of polytheism and paganism in the dogma of the Trinitarian faith which confused the elements of monotheism and polytheism. The distortion of religious teachings in the doctrine of the trinity is the absence of the teaching of Jesus Christ in the Gospel that teaches worship on him except the call to monotheism. The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus comes from Paul's teachings that deviate from the teachings of monotheism colored by the influence of Hellenism philosophy. Consequently, there was conflict in the body of Christian schools about the concept of Trinity to the present day.
