Al-Amīr Amīn Mağīd Arslān (aš-Šuwaifāt 1868-Buenos Aires, 1943), who was known in Europe and Argentina as the Emir Emin Arslan, is a legend within the Arab Argentine community. He arrived in Argentina in 1910 as Consul General of the Ottoman Empire and did not leave the country, whose nationality he adopted in 1921. He became a respected writer and editor in Spanish, his fourth language, which he acquired at 42 years old, and joined the literary and political elite of the country. Arslan spent the first 25 years of his life in his native Mount Lebanon, more than a decade in Europe (Paris and Brussels) and more than three decades in Argentina. He published in Arabic, French and Spanish. The fate of the people of greater Syria was his main concern to the day of his demise. In this essay we deal with his political opinions during the three main parts of his life, including the less studied: the European one (1893-1910).

; The article explores the relationship between global approaches and historical biography. It contends that the so-called transnational, connected or crossed history raises questions of heuristic and hermeneutic interest for biographical inquires. Whereas the biography, like microhistory in general, focuses on the link between the history of an individual and a culture, between the micro and the macro, global approaches seek to articulate various spatial scales of analysis. Their goal is to reconstruct connections and transferences among different societies by looking at discrete historical events, including personal trajectories. The second part of the essay applies these insights to the case of Ignacio Flores, a late Spanish colonial magistrate. Born in Quito to a prominent Creole family, Flores was educated in Europe and developed his political career in the Upper Peru region. It is argued that that his personal journey, which took him from the political and intellectual circles in the metropolis, to his appointment as first Intendant of Charcas, and his removal and arrest shortly afterward, can only be understood by examining the intertwinement of his European cultural identity, his adscription to the putative Spanish nation, his creole origins, and his political alignments in the local conflicts. ; Fil: Serulnikov, Sergio. ; I analyze the translation carried out by José María de Torrijos y Uriarte of the memories that Napoleón dictated to his generals Baron Gourgaud and Count of Montholon, and the introductory biography he added. Abstract: Analyzing John Milton's works, one can observe the influence of his personal life, his biography upon his poetry and prose. Milton, in his works, not only demonstrates the social and political issues of his own society, but he also deals with the gender issue by creating female characters who have some weaknesses or faults, which cause destruction and disaster. Therefore, his own experiences not only related to social issues but also about women and marriage play a considerable role in his depiction of the relationship between female and male. In this article, the general condition of women in the 17th century English society and Milton's portrayal of women will be analyzed by highlighting the influence of Milton's own experiences upon his representation of gender roles.
