The reports and histories compiled by the members of the Society of Jesus in the second half of the sixteenth century were among the earliest European sources to treat 'Japan' as a geographical and political reality. The peculiarity of the Jesuit approach, focused on research and adaptation, is reflected in the variety of their contents, encompassing descriptions of geography, politics, society, language, religion and art. The reports were also the earliest sources on Japan to reach a wider public in Europe. They were not only delivered to Coimbra, Rome and to the different Jesuit houses, but also distributed commercially, in the form of letter-books, throughout Europe. It can be presumed that the impact of the letter-books on European readership was enhanced by the growing popularity of periodical publications and by the expansion of the publishing market. This paper will use the reports published in vernacular Italian as a case study, and investigate the nature of such readership and how the reports fit into the Italian book market of the sixteenth century. It will analyse them in light of the cultural and economical processes that led to their production and circulation, focusing on publishing houses, editions and formats, in order to evaluate the editorial policies that led to their circulation.

; This research aims at exploring the relationship between the free movement of services within the internal market and the need to protect the fundamental social rights at national level. To this extent, our purpose is to identify the role of the EU regulation on services in ensuring a smooth cohabitation between EU economic policies and national social goals. Following the adoption of the Treaty of Lisbon, the EU has shown a new approach which aims not only at keeping a high level of competitiveness, but also at establishing a social market economy. The contradiction between the implementation of the single market and the preservation of domestic welfare policies shall therefore be analysed in the light of the social oriented approach enshrined in this new EU legal framework. The need to reconcile social and market values which inspires the concept of social market economy should guarantee that the exercise of EU freedoms of movement does not prejudge the substance of social rights. Before studying the causes and effects of this potential legal conflict it seems essential to make a brief analysis of the rules provided under EU law in order to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market for services (Part I). The second part of the research will then be focused on the effects of the internal market rules on solidarity. In this context we will examine how, according to a recent case-law of the ECJ, the economic freedoms of circulation, as a priority of the market, may jeopardize the national social rights. These rulings of the EU courts have put in discussion the European integration process in respect of the constitutional traditions relating to employment law and has shown the unstable balance between a border-less market and the aspiration of a social economy at European level.

Sebbene l'art. ; The purpose of this study is to identify and resolve some of the problems with the regulations applicable to the case of «the portability of the loan», as defined by art. 8 of italian law n. 40/2007 and subsequent amendments. The main question, on which this study is based, is about how the new legal framework of « the portability of the loan» can be included in the legal regulation of subrogation, in the case in which subrogation is not described as one of the means to achieve circulation of credit. Another problem concerns the possibility to consider art. 8 as a new wording of subrogation, as defined in the italian civile code. Although the application of art. 8 is not restricted to mortgage funding, the discipline in question is often applied to this case. For this reason it can be argued that « the portability of the loan » legislation is intended to encourage «mortgage portability». «Mortgage portability» can be defined as the subrogation of the new financier in the mortgage, according to art. 1202, italian civil code. The italian law n. 40/2007 introduces a more simple discipline to encourage « the portability of the loan». This helps to give a new life to the legal regulation of subrogation, which could become one of the main medium for credit's circulation, although some problems remain unsolved. Thus, is interesting to study the reflections of subrogation on guarantees and, in particular, on mortgages. The study has focused on the comparison of the main differences between European countries in the regulations of circulation of credit, « the portability of the loan» and transferability of guarantees.

; The paper examines the available data on the book market and on reading behaviors in Italy during 2020, also taking into account the international landscape and relevant figures on other cultural consumptions, with the aim of proposing some interpretative hypotheses and analyzing the main trends. As often happened in the past, once again the real data have disproved some forecasts. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been different in different stages of the emergency. In the first weeks of lockdown, despite the increase of free time at home, the propensity to read does not seem to have grown significantly, while the sales figures, due to the bookstores' closures, led to fears of a collapse in consumption.Things went differently during the second wave, with a strong recovery of the book market: the year even closed with an increase in sales value compared to 2019. However, the radical transformations that are taking place in the relative weight of different sales channels are worrying, with a significant shift from 'physical' bookstores towards e-commerce, where Amazon holds a share of over 80%.Among the policies implemented in recent years to support demand and to promote reading, the '18-yearold bonus' proved to be highly effective: between 2016 and 2019 it allowed a large share of the young people who had moved away from reading in the previous years, to return among the ranks of readers.

International audience ; The article analyses the construction of heroic figures during the Neapolitan revolution of 1820-21 and during the following exile of those revolutionaries in Spain, Greece, France and Great Britain. In particular, the contribution examines the cult of martyrs (dead or still alive) which was created around central figures of the Nonimestre (especially Guglielmo Pepe). These key personalities emerged as the first transnational revolutionary celebrities within the liberal European community. Thanks to the mobility of these heroes and martyrs one can individuate a transnational socio-geographic space of a globalized revolution.
