This article analyses the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in the light of Huntington's theory of the clash of civilisations. In his text, Huntington stated, "If civilization is what counts, however, the likelihood of violence between Ukrainians and Russians should be low". After the full-scale aggression of Russia against Ukraine, it is clearly visible that Huntington was completely wrong. This does not, however, falsify Huntington's entire concept, which nevertheless requires modification in the form of a new delimitation and naming of civilisations – there is no "Slavic-Orthodox civilisation", but rather a "Eurasian civilisation". These corrections, based on Oskar Halecki's research, lead to the conclusion that Huntington's theory is applicable in the case of the Russia-Ukraine war, with Ukraine being a Huntingtonian "torn country" that has decided to finally leave the Eurasian civilisation, while Russia is trying to prevent it.

Subsidiarity idea combining opposites makes sense as a principle of creating this diversity in unity, which ensures the integrity of autonomous structures making up the whole, preserving national, regional and cultural specificities of countries and people around the globe. The support of these processes provides the public with the opportunity to discover effective forms for the realization of self-organization and implementation of their needs and developing appropriate social structures and legal institutions regulating their activity. Through the examination of the concept of subsidiarity and aspects of its practical application in organizations, the article discusses the polarities of the different structure and management forms of the institutionalization of the principle of subsidiarity in the countries and its effect in the formation of the governance levels in the state, showing how balance of powers is achieved based on the subsidiarity principle, creating an effective mechanism of function distribution (determination of exclusive competencies) and their implementation (institutional interaction, their operational control). In structuring the institutional systems of the organization of the state, the subsidiarity concept is complemented with the elements of the management system decentralization, democratization, federalism and regional and local self-governments.

The article's attention is focused on one of the most serious social and political organizational problems – the so-called disability of civilization – and on the features of the spreading of this phenomenon in Lithuania, and the Lithuanian nation. The author's own interpretation of the disability of civilization is seen as the nation and the nation based state's areas of behavior, which are filled with excessive polarization, deviance, shady economy, crime and actions lacking wisdom and/or continuity (and, therefore, strategically unplanned). Social disability promotes the scattering of anomies, social arrhythmias and social fatigue, consequently giving birth to and supporting the so-called "false consciousness", etc. The author believes that a disability of civilization is not a distinctive feature of any nation. However, in each country it has its own idiosyncrasies, determined by its historical legacy, its relationship with today's world and with globalization overshadowing it. The author also draws attention to Lithuania's approach towards a meaningful relationship with the EU.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is an analysis of Witold Gombrowicz's position in reference to the archetype of Polish political culture. THE RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND METHODS: The main problem undertaken in the article is an analysis of Witold Gombrowicz's position in reference to the question of Polishness, its components, and its relationship to Latin civilization. The article is based on an analysis of Gombrowicz's Diary. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article begins with a synthetic outline of two fundamental issues: the Latinness of European civilization and the debate surrounding the archetype of Polish political culture. This is followed by what constitutes the main body of the article: an analysis of Gombrowicz's views on Polishness. RESEARCH RESULTS: The most important result of the scientific analysis conducted here is the indication of the main theses of Gombrowicz's understanding of Polishness and of the relationship between Polishness and Latin civilization. Gombrowicz's conception is presented as an innovative approach to the problem, transcending traditional takes on Polishness as a specific type of realism. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: In his conclusions, the author indicates interpretative possibilities resulting from the perspective taken in the article, as well as areas that require further study, concerning such issues as the relationship between the Sonland and the Fatherland, and the culture of the Polish nobility during the "Saxon Era."
