Argues that, in spite of inimical circumstances, Quebec corporatism can still produce high-performing public policy. A comparative analysis of environmental policy making in Quebec, Ontario, & NC illustrates that Quebec's performance in this sector outperforms the latter cases. Analysis further demonstrates that differences in performance can be attributed to variations in each jurisdiction's public policy network. In other words, far from being anachronistic, Quebec corporatism still enjoys a good deal of success. Adapted from the source document.

The direction of Israeli security policy is critiqued. Despite Ariel Sharon's tough military measures, violence continues to threaten the people & economy. Continued recourse to military solutions is attributed to the army's pervasiveness in politics & society. Political obstacles to other kinds of strategies are examined. E. Taylor

Arabs living in Israel & in its occupied territories have been represented as a single Palestinian people; this claim is examined. Links between Arabs in the Israeli & Palestinian territories are evident in the Intifadas & in social, political, & religious networks. However, some distinctions between the two groups appear, eg, in an Islamist religious hierarchy that seeks state recognition for Israeli Muslims. E. Taylor
