Main description: Kirchliche Zeitgeschichte hat, wie kaum ein anderer Zweig der Zeitgeschichtsforschung, aber auch der Historischen Theologie, vielerlei und folgenreiche Methodenstreitigkeiten hinter sich. Einerseits analysiert die Disziplin kirchliches Handeln und konfessionelle Milieus mit historischen Mitteln, andererseits erfolgt ihr Urteilsbildung nach theologischen Kriterien.
