AbstractThe authors aim to reveal both the potentialities and limitations of recent attempts by Dworkin and Rawls (especially in the latter's work since the publication ofA Theory of Justice) to work out a constructivist conception of right to serve as the groundwork of a rights-based theory of justice. The constructivist conception of right is promising, the authors argue, because it points beyond both teleological naturalism and instrumentalism as conceptions of right. The authors, however, find Dworkin and Rawls's constructivism to be ultimately inadequate, and argue that their project would be furthered through consideration of the constructivist aspects of Rousseau's conception of right as articulated inThe Social Contract.

Im Bereich der Gesellschaftsanalyse hat die neuere Systemtheorie wichtige Auseinandersetzungen ausgelöst. Die Frage, welche Beiträge die Systemtheorie für die Analyse von Sozialisation und Subjektbildung liefert, führt dagegen in ein noch kaum beschrittenes Neuland. Der Band geht dieser Frage nach und versucht dabei, bewährte strukturgenetische Sozialisationstheorien in Kontakt zu systemtheoretischen Sichtweisen zu bringen. This study explored, described, and discovered meaning in the lived experiences of PhD students regarding two courses: Philosophy of Science and Qualitative Methods. The philosophical underpinning was constructivism. The phenomenological methodology employed a structured questionnaire to collect data. It involved mailed computer disks with questions. Twenty of 43 students returned the disks. Content analysis and QSR N6 software were employed in data analysis. Findings included three broad areas: Thinking about Thinking, The Ah-Ha of Me and Thee, and The Never-Ending Journey of Darkness to Light. Philosophy of Science appears to have value for students in every aspect of their lives. Recognizing strengths and limitations of various paradigms could lead to different and new ways of approaching research. Philosophy of Science was a useful course for the participants.

This paper presents two approaches to interpretation of collective terms in social and political philosophy. The author proves that realism is founded on series of logical mistakes and doubtful metaphors, and argues in favor of constructivism. ; У статтi розглядаються двi стратегiї iнтерпретацiї збiрних понять у соцiальнiй i полiтичнiй фiлософiї. The article reveals the content of some theories based on the methodological and worldview basis of the concept of "non-subjectivity": postmodernism, constructivism, physicalism, cognitivism, neurophysiology, neuropsychology, neurolinguistics and other sciences. The heuristic aspects of these theories in the understanding of man and consciousness are shown, as well as significant shortcomings, which consist in the violation of the dialectic of objective and subjective reality, subject and object, are reveled. There are some examples, that illustrate the need for a comprehensive study of people not only on the basis of the study of the psychology of higher nervous activity, but also the activity and communication mechanisms of human study in culture and society.

This volume features essays about and by Paul Benacerraf, whose ideas have circulated in the philosophical community since the early nineteen sixties, shaping key areas in the philosophy of mathematics, the philosophy of language, the philosophy of logic, and epistemology. The book started as a workshop held in Paris at the Collège de France in May 2012 with the participation of Paul Benacerraf. The introduction addresses the methodological point of the legitimate use of so-called "Princess Margaret Premises" in drawing philosophical conclusions from Gödel's first incompleteness theorem. The book is then divided into three sections. The first is devoted to an assessment of the improved version of the original dilemma of "Mathematical Truth" due to Hartry Field: the challenge to the platonist is now to explain the reliability of our mathematical beliefs given the very subject matter of mathematics, either pure or applied. The second addresses the issue of the ontological status of numbers: Frege's logicism, fictionalism, structuralism, and Bourbaki's theory of structures are called up for an appraisal of Benacerraf's negative conclusions of "What Numbers Could Not Be." The third is devoted to supertasks and bears witness to the unique standing of Benacerraf's first publication: "Tasks, Super-Tasks, and Modern Eleatics" in debates on Zeno's paradox and associated paradoxes, infinitary mathematics, and constructivism and finitism in the philosophy of mathematics. Two yet unpublished essays by Benacerraf have been included in the volume: an early version of "Mathematical Truth" from 1968 and an essay on "What Numbers Could Not Be" from the mid 1970's. A complete chronological bibliography of Benacerraf's work to 2016 is provided.
