Consumerism is one of the most dangerous political scenarios in which human beings can enter; is the fantastic world that controls the real world. It is the world of stereotypes, temporary satisfaction, non-participation, manipulation, alignment, the world of the plastic and the superficial, this is the axis of this text.
Is the 21st century the Chinese century? Westernization has changed nearly all facets of life in China, except for politics (Wu, 2009). This has created mass-confusion, enthusiasm, rebellion, romanticism, and idealism. The 1990s manufacturing industries continued to dominate the acceleration of consumerism in the 21st century and created, more than ever, a bizarrely giant, abstract world of identity that is self-created and sustained. This paper examines the politics of abstract desire, hyper-consumerism, and the notion of fantasy in the Chinese fashion industry. Today, hundreds of giant "hyper-malls" found all over China are connected to the distribution of fake "stuff." These commercial emblems have become an integral part of China's visual and social landscape. The marketplace of fake goods using Western brand images (e.g. logos) has grown for centuries to become an abstract superstructure of falsely branded lifestyles and design integrity. The global rise of hyper-consumerism gave China the ultimate opportunity to create a new identity for itself while importing the dream of luxury: The Buying Power. This paper focuses on abstracting the notion of hyper-consumerism and interrogating the relationship between visual advertisement, its materiality, and its representation in the global marketplace. How does advertising contribute to the production of consumer goods? Can we create a cyclical vision for new materials? How is the value of luxury created, displaced, transformed, and consumed through space and time?
From the 18th century one installs the modernism that there promoted the objective evi- dence, the rational usefulness and the discovery of the laws of the nature. From the second part of the 20th century, there sinks the ingenuous optimism of the indefinite progress and there is born a new type of individualistic company, centre on the present, which favors the consumption and the hedonism: the postmodern era. The consumer fever of immediate satisfactions to continued during the 21st century in what it is being called the hypermo- dernity, wilder than never, though wrapped in a halo of dreads and uneasiness's. There is investigated the historical process that gave place to the hyperconsumption later to raise if perhaps this one is the last stage of the history or if there will be a poshypermodernism. The sociologist Z.Bauman (2007) thinks that the possibility of producing a new type of culture is practically void. From this irreversible reality is considered to be the apocalyptic prophecy of Babylonia (Rev.18), in his catastrophic conclusion, a final event of the human history, think- ing that it relates to the economy and the politics, as sociocultural key axes, doing the Biblical text a description that might relate to organizations that work from the shades handled by the most powerful clans of the world, which would be directing the flows of the big capitals and influencing the international politics moved by the avidity of power, in perverse and selfish form. It might hypothetizar that the apocalyptic prophecy of the last Babylonian sym- bolism might apply to him to the hypermodernism, there being augured his destruction and the installation of a new order under the patronages of the Divine Being. Keywords: Modernism, culture, consumerism, society.

AbstractIn contrast to the current tendency to prioritize theinstrumentalistfunction of education, we are witnessing the resurgence of interest in its non-cognitive function, attention to the affective-emotional education of students, and the incorporation of non-cognitive traits into the educational agenda that guides education towards personal and social development. In this sense, numerous interventions based on mindfulness in the educational field have shown benefits both to teachers and students in the cognitive, emotional and social dimensions. However, various authors have denounced the use of a superficial practice of mindfulness oriented to instrumental and pragmatic ends that ignores its ethical and political foundations, with the consequent impoverishment of its transforming potential. The objective of this article is to criticallyanalysethese instrumental uses of mindfulness regarding its meaning and original foundations, as a process of adaptation to modern culture (particularly, its conversion into an object of consumption and/or a neoliberal technology),to finally, make a proposal that integrates mindfulness in the educational system as a transformative practice, respecting its essence and ontological nature through an education towards the development of the consciousness of the human being.
Making the purchase of a product (buycot) or not (boycott) is a justified personal decision based on ethical values, environmental or political concerning the procedures performed by companies or governments. New technologies and different information media affect the scope of this type of political mobilization given the growing importance of transnational social networks and online communities, which contribute to the formation of the public opinion and to the participation in a new "sub-political" space. So we are interested in: a) critical or conscious consumers transforming their purchase habit in political habit, and b) the context through which they obtain the information, and the different actors, activists and social movements with which they participate, transforming the market into a public arena and a subject of claims for the practice of democracy. This article therefore aims to: concepualize consumer involvement from the perspective of sociological theories of modernity, present some of the methodologies used to measure and evaluate the influence of political consumers, and see to what extent their empowerment trough the market might approach a "consumecracy''.
In this paper I will consider the 1950s as a seminal period for the configuration of violence in modern drama and as a crucial moment for the fusion between violence and realism. In post-war drama, we will not see violence portrayed as an extreme action or as unbelievable acts. Violence becomes the natural way to express social and individual tensions, through class conflicts, strong language and war motives. Themes such as the display of physical violence, the failure of the human body, exposing dysfunctional families and war effects, becomes more and more common and attached to everyday life. This was fertile ground for John Osborne, Edward Bond or Arthur Miller, or for the British dramaturgy of the nineties, especially with the so-called in-yer-face theatre. Thus, I will focus on the effects this global discussion had on Portuguese culture and theatre. I will discuss two performances that are both representative of the Portuguese alternative culture of the time and that stage texts that deal with realistic violence: Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman by Experimental Theatre of Oporto (TEP), in 1954; and Mark Ravenhill's Shopping and Fucking, directed by Gonçalo Amorim, in 2007. Both performances represent straightforward approaches to the texts and raise several interesting aspects: how is violence portrayed inPortugal, in 1954, when a fascist dictatorship imposed a severe censorship on performances? And how is Ravenhill's violence replaced by irony in the performance by Gonçalo Amorim?
The notion of political culture has centred on formal political institutions as interlocutors of individuals. However, the increasing economic power of corporations and their programs of social responsibility, along with higher levels of confidence, personal efficiency and mobilization amongst consumers aimed at influencing the provision of goods and services that these corporations provide, demand a revision of the concept. The article looks at evidence which points to the politicization of consumerism in Brazil.
Calls for psychology in Argentina to put more research & clinical focus on how economics affects daily human behavior. Economic psychology would seek to understand the dynamic between the consumer & the goods consumed. Supermarkets thrive financially on the fact that the typical buyer purchases more goods than one intends or needs. Psychological explorations are needed concerning how purchases effect & define the household, how they achieve cultural expression, & how the fulfill or fail to fulfill social connections. The role of daily economics on an individual's cognitive process is discussed along with how consumption serves as both an expression & acceptance of an individual's feelings. 20 References. D. Bajo
