Seit den frühen 1970er Jahren beobachten die Standard & Spezial Eurobarometer der Europäischen Kommission regelmäßig die öffentliche Meinung in den Mitgliedsländern der Europäischen Union. Primärforscher sind die Generaldirektion Kommunikation und bei Spezialthemen weitere Direktionen sowie das Europäische Parlament. Im Laufe der Zeit wurden Kandidaten- und Beitrittsländer in die Standard Eurobarometer-Reihe aufgenommen. Ausgewählte Fragen oder Module können in einigen Samples nicht erhoben worden sein. Erwartungen und Besorgnis im Hinblick auf vernetztes und automatisiertes Fahren, 3. Einstellungen von Europäern zur Luftqualität, 4. Schwarzarbeit in der Europäischen Union.
Die zweite Erhebung der Europäischen Union zum Thema Minderheiten und Diskriminierung (EU-MIDIS II) wurde 2016 von der Agentur der Europäischen Union für Grundrechte (FRA) als Folgemaßnahme zur ersten Erhebung über die Erfahrungen von Minderheiten und Zuwanderern mit Diskriminierung und krimineller Viktimisierung durchgeführt, die die Agentur 2008 durchgeführt hatte. Die EU-MIDIS-II-Erhebung sammelte Informationen von 25.515 Befragten mit unterschiedlichem ethnischen Minderheiten und Migrationshintergrund, einschließlich Roma, in allen EU-Mitgliedstaaten (2016: EU-28 einschließlich des Vereinigten Königreichs). Die EU-MIDIS II-Stichprobe ist repräsentativ für die ausgewählten Bevölkerungsgruppen, die befragt wurden. Die Stichprobe umfasst Personen, die ethnischen oder nationalen Minderheiten, Roma und Russen angehören, sowie Personen, die außerhalb der EU geboren wurden (Befragte der ersten Generation) und Personen, bei denen mindestens ein Elternteil außerhalb der EU geboren wurde (Befragte der zweiten Generation). Alle Befragten waren 16 Jahre oder älter und haben mindestens 12 Monate vor der Befragung in einem Privathaushalt gelebt. Personen, die in institutionellen Einrichtungen - zum Beispiel in Krankenhäusern oder Gefängnissen - leben, wurden nicht befragt.
Die Auswahl der zu befragenden Gruppen in den einzelnen Ländern erfolgte auf der Grundlage mehrerer Kriterien, darunter die Größe der Zielpopulation, die Durchführbarkeit einer Erhebung bei der jeweiligen Zielpopulation im Hinblick auf Kosten und Erreichbarkeit, das Risiko bestimmter Gruppen, ´rassisch´, ´ethnisch´ oder ´religiös´ motivierte Diskriminierung und Viktimisierung zu erfahren, ihre Anfälligkeit für das Risiko sozialer Ausgrenzung und schließlich die Vergleichbarkeit mit früheren FRA-Erhebungen. Die Zielgruppen der EU-MIDIS-II-Erhebung sind Zuwanderer und Nachkommen von Zuwanderern aus Nordafrika; Zuwanderer und Nachkommen von Zuwanderern aus der Türkei; Zuwanderer und Nachkommen von Zuwanderern aus Afrika südlich der Sahara; Zuwanderer und Nachkommen von Zuwanderern aus Asien und Südasien; Neuzuwanderer; Roma; Mitglieder der russischen Minderheit. In Slowenien und Polen wurden Personen, die in den letzten 10 Jahren in die EU eingewandert sind, unabhängig vom Herkunftsland einbezogen. Die Feldarbeit wurde zwischen September 2015 und September 2016 von Ipsos MORI durchgeführt unter der Aufsicht von FRA-Mitarbeitern, die die Einhaltung strenger Qualitätskontrollverfahren überwachten.
Der Fragebogen enthält Fragen zur wahrgenommenen Diskriminierung in verschiedenen Bereichen, wie z. B. Beschäftigung, Bildung, Wohnen, Gesundheit und bei der Nutzung öffentlicher oder privater Dienstleistungen. Er umfasst auch Polizeikontrollen, kriminelle Viktimisierung (einschließlich Hasskriminalität) sowie das Bewusstsein für Rechte und für Institutionen, die Opferhilfe anbieten. Darüber hinaus wurden die Befragten zu Fragen der gesellschaftlichen Teilhabe und Integration befragt, einschließlich des Vertrauens in öffentliche Institutionen und des Grades der Verbundenheit mit dem Land, in dem sie leben.
The purpose of this PhD dissertation is to study the creation process of the association « Sauvegarde de l'enfance » (protection/safeguard of childhood) in Lyon under the Vichy regime. This PhD disseration has required to open the period to the years which have preceded and followed the Vichy regime in order to evidence among others the major contribution of the inter-war period to the development of a scheme aiming at taking care of children in an irregular situation and in moral danger. And as a result to place this study in the double continuity : 30s/Vichy and Vichy/postwar reconstruction. The studied period highlighths the central role played by child neuropsychiatry through the years 1935-1949 in the development of the childcare system/scheme, in a context of heavy medicalisation of social matters. Through the historical object « The Protection/safeguard of childhood » it has been possible to study closely the development of a complex relation between the State - in a period where its authority grew significantly and got strengthened - and the associations / « the Association » as representative of the civil society. This complex relation, made of tensions, injonctions and mutual recognition, ties in a tradition developed during the last third of the 19th Century, the tradition of « social concordat », of the necessity of a compromise which developed into what Pierre Rosanvallon calls « the amended jacobinism ». The « Sauvegarde de l'enfance » in Lyon will be between 1943 and 1949 the expression of this amendment to jacobinism. This study has eventually allowed to show in a special historical context the important role of individual and collective actors, who most often relate to networks and work out strategies. Thus in the darkest period of the German occupation under the Vichy State its, associative and political actors negotiate. This France in contact with day-to-day realities has had the possibility to express and achieve its visions/intentions/aims/targets, at least negotiate them, thanks to a context where the State paradoxically did not prioritize the protection of childhood. It is in this period, during this major historical sequence, that policies aiming at protecting childhood entered into a new period ; this is when a care scheme has developped, made especially of an argumentation, a legislation and institutions. ; Cette thèse a pour objet d'étudier la création à Lyon de l'association « La Sauvegarde de l'enfance » sous le régime de Vichy. L'étude de cet « objet » a nécessité de désenclaver la période, afin de mettre davantage en évidence le rôle majeur des années de l'Entre-deux guerres dans l'élaboration d'un dispositif de prise en charge de l'enfance irrégulière et endanger moral. Looking primarily at two critically acclaimed texts that concern themselves with American citizenship—F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Stephanie Powell Watts' No One is Coming to Save Us—I analyze the claims made about citizenship identities, rights, and consequential access to said rights. I ask, how do these narratives about citizenship sustain, create, or re-envision American myth? Similarly, how do the narratives interact with the dominant culture at large? Do any of these texts achieve oppositional value, and/or modify the complex hegemonic structure? I use Pierre Bourdieu's "The Forms of Capital" to investigate the ways in which economic, cultural, and social capital are distributed amongst identity groups of citizens, focusing on its favorable distribution to white upper-class men. Interesting, too, is the way in which these texts relate with one another and evolve over time. As Fitzgerald reaffirms boundary rights to white upper-class social capital to longstanding wealthy white males, Watts celebrates the survival of black individuals through the hard-earned persistence of human connection. Ultimately, as Gatsby fails to repeat the past, Watts succeeds in rewriting it.

Seit Wochen rollt eine Welle von Protesten über verschiedene Länder Lateinamerikas. Sie weist auf einen Umbruch historischen Ausmaßes hin, den die Region seit langem nicht erlebt hat. Die Bürger artikulieren ihren Unmut auf der Straße und treiben die Amtsinhaber jedweder politischen Couleur vor sich her. Personelles und institutionelles Versagen in den Regierungen greifen ineinander. Der Widerstand richtet sich gegen Preiserhöhungen, Subventionskürzungen und Wahlfälschung ebenso wie gegen die Korruptheit der politischen Klasse. Strukturelle Defizite wie soziale Ungleichheit und mangelnde Verteilungsgerechtigkeit können den Aufruhr allein nicht erklären. Hinzu kommt die Frustration der einkommensschwachen Bevölkerungsgruppen über die ausbleibende Verbesserung ihrer Lebensverhältnisse. Das Vertrauen in die Politik ist erschüttert, ihre Ideenarmut steigert noch den Druck in Richtung einer politischen Neuordnung jenseits der bestehenden Institutionen und Elitenpakte. Doch die Erwartung, ein Konsens zwischen Protestierenden und den etablierten Eliten über neue Grundlagen des Zusammenlebens ließe sich schnell finden oder eine Verständigung auf ein neues Entwicklungsmodell erzielen, könnte enttäuscht werden. Mit kurzfristigen Zugeständnissen wird sich dies nicht bewerkstelligen lassen. (Autorenreferat)
