Seit 2001 ist das "europäische forum für migrationsstudien" (efms) von der EU-Agentur "Europäische Stelle zur Beobachtung von Rassismus und Fremdenfeindlichkeit" (EUMC) damit beauftragt, über ethnische Diskriminierung, Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Rassismus in Deutschland zu berichten. Zentrale Themenschwerpunkte des EUMC sind ethnische Diskriminierung und Ungleichbehandlung am Arbeits- und Wohnungsmarkt sowie im Schulsystem, die Entwicklung der nationalen Antidiskriminierungsgesetzgebung, rassistische Straf- und Gewalttaten sowie Antisemitismus und Islamfeindlichkeit. Im vorliegenden Bericht wird das Ausmaß von Rassismus, Fremdenfeindlichkeit und ethnische Diskriminierung in Deutschland im Jahr 2007 ausführlich dargestellt. Neben einem Überblick über die gesetzlichen Grundlagen, insbesondere des im August 2006 in Kraft getretenen Allgemeinen Gleichbehandlungsgesetzes (AGG), werden unter anderem die Strukturen von rassistischer Gewalt und Kriminalität sowie die benachteiligte Position von Ausländern im Bildungssystem, am Arbeits- und Wohnungsmarkt und im Gesundheitswesen dargestellt. This book examines the impact of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on national and international jurisprudence, since its adoption in 1989. It offers state of the art knowledge on the functions, challenges and limitations of the CRC in domestic, regional and international children's rights litigation. Litigating the Rights of the Childprovides insight in the role of the CRC in domestic jurisprudence in ten countries from different parts of the world, with civil law, common law and Islamic law systems. In addition, it offers analyses of the jurisprudence of regional courts, in Europe and the Americas, and of human rights treaty bodies, including the Human Rights Committee, Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. This book presents a global and comparative picture on the use of the CRC in litigation and identifies emerging trends. This book serves as an important source of reference and inspiration for academics, students, legal professionals, including judges and lawyers, and (inter)national organisations working in the area of children's rights. Professor Dr Jaap E. Doek is an Emeritus Professor in Family and Juvenile Law at the VU University of Amsterdam and an extra-ordinary Professor in Children's Rights at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. He is the special legal advisor of ECPAT and is a member of the board of various international NGO's, e.g. the African Child Policy Forum and Child Helpline International. He regularly serves as a consultant for UNICEF country offices. He was a member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child from 1999 until 2007 and the chairperson of that committee from 2001 until 2007. He was Dean of the Law Faculty at the VU University of Amsterdam from 1988 to 1992. He has been a juvenile court judge in the District Courts of Alkmaar and The Hague (1978-1985) and a deputy justice in the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam (2005-2012). He wrote or edited books and contributed to many books. Examples of books are: The Rights of the Child in International Law. He supervises PhD research on various children's rights issues and regularly advises governments and international organisations (UN, Council of Europe, European Union, INGO's), on issues related to children's rights, juvenile justice, child friendly justice, child protection and alternative care, and violence against children. Ton Liefaard is furthermore a deputy juvenile judge at the District Court of Amsterdam and a member of the State Commission advising the Dutch Government on changing parental relationships and the position of children.

Within the scope of a project sponsored by an enquiry commission set up by the German Bundestag to examine "how the consequences of the SED dictatorship are being overcome in the ongoing process of German unity", the BIOst has undertaken to perform a review of the status of endeavours in other countries similarly affected to re-examine and come to terms with a past lived under a dictatorial regime. This was the context that gave rise to the present report. In order to make the reports on the various countries more readily comparable, a question framework was developed which serves to give the reports a general structure. The sources for the present report were mainly publications in the Polish and German specialist and daily press. (BIOst-Dok)

Der Ergebnisbericht des Sonderforschungsbereichs der Förderperiode 1991-93 zeigt eine differenzierte Thesenbildung, basierend auf den Leitmotiven des Sfb186 mit folgenden Fragenkomplexen:
Wie bearbeiten die Institutionen des Arbeitsmarktes, der Berufsbildung, der familialen Reproduktion und der sozialstaatlichen Sicherung die sozialen Risiken: inwieweit haben sich ihre Normalitäts-Konzeptionen, Zuständigkeiten und Praktiken seit Mitte der 70er Jahre verändert?
Wird es zu Risikoumverteilungen oder zu einer Kumulation von Risiken bei bestimmten Sozialgruppen kommen und mit welchen gesellschaftspolitischen Konsequenzen?
Welche Möglichkeiten und Grenzen für eine Umgestaltung der männlichen und weiblichen Normalbiographie ergeben sich längerfristig aus neuen Lebensentwürfen, Risikolagen und deren institutioneller Bearbeitung?
Wie arrangieren sich die Individuen mit den Diskontinuitäten im Lebenslauf und den Friktionen zwischen institutionalisierten Lebenslaufmustern und individuellen Lebensentwürfen, und wie werden diskontinuierliche Statuspassagen von verschiedenen sozialen Gruppen bewältigt?
Der Sonderforschungsbereich begann seine zweite Förderungsperiode am 1. Juli 1991 mit neun Teilprojekten, zu denen im Verlaufe des Jahres 1992 zwei neue Teilprojekte stießen (A4 "Risikopassage Berufseintritt" und B5 "Späte Heirat"). Damit wurde das Untersuchungsfeld des Sonderforschungsbereichs durch die Themen Ehe/Partnerschaft und Arbeitsmarktrisiken von Hochschulabsolventen in den neuen Bundesländern ergänzt. In der zweiten Forschungsphase haben im Sonderforschungsbereich Wissenschaftler(innen) aus fünf Fachbereichen der Universität Bremen zusammen gearbeitet: Jura, Soziologie, Psychologie, Arbeitswissenschaft und Berufsbildung sowie Sozialpädagogik/Sozialpolitik.
Das Arbeitsprogramm wurde von den Teilprojekten und dem Arbeitsbereich Methodenentwicklung in zunehmender begrifflicher und theoretischer Abstimmung durchgeführt. Im Mittelpunkt standen die zweiten, teilweise auch dritten Erhebungswellen und eine von Konzeptentwicklung auf Zusammenhangsanalysen übergehende Datenauswertung und -analyse.
Durch die geleistete Forschungsarbeit konnten, insbesondere durch erhobene Längsschnittdaten, die Thesen der Erosion der Normalbiographie und der um sich greifenden Individualisierung von Lebensläufen differenziert werden.
