In this report, Elen Budinova shares some reflections and impressions regarding the conference "Developing Ukrainian Studies: Ukraine in Research and Teaching in the Subjects Slavic Literary and Cultural Studies, Slavic Linguistics in Dialogue with East European History", which took place in the Dornburg Old Palace from October 12 to 13, 2023. The conference was organized by the research network project "European Times" (EUTIM), the Aleksander Brückner Center for Polish Studies, and the Network for Ukrainian Studies.

Loaay Wattad is a Lecturer at the Department of Sociology and the School of Cultural Studies at Tel Aviv University, focusing on the sociology of Palestinian children's literature in Palestine. He has conducted extensive research in this field and built a unique database covering the past century. In addition to his academic pursuits, Loaay is a translator and an active member of the Maktoob translators' circle, dedicated to translating various literary works from Arabic to Hebrew. In the academic year 2023/24, he is a EUME Fellow at the Forum Transregionale Studien.

Identities did not always remain purely religious, but could also have a cultural and traditional character, such as the self-definition of a Ukrainian as a Christian, despite the country's multi-religious and multicultural map. Since 2022, the problem of the transformation of religious identities is further exacerbated. Dramatic changes are taking place among the believers and clergy. The conceptualization of the pandemic as a catastrophic event is multifaceted, involving socio-historical and cultural dimensions. The potential answer lies in the observation, that it coincided with the final stages of the First World War, allowing for socio-historical interpretations based on this contextualization. Apart from the overshadowing effect of the First World War, as several resources indicate, the experiences of the 1918 pandemic may have faded from collective memory due to inadequate documentation and reporting. With this year's motto No Time Like Home (Дім в часі in Ukrainian), the fourth edition of the Ukrainian Film Festival Berlin took place from the 25th to 29th October. Having screened a total of 19 short films, ten recent full-length films and three additional films in the Retrospective programme, as well as three recent Georgian films, across five different cinemas, the festival proved to be a growing success in Berlin's cultural landscape. September durch die Vereinten Nationen veröffentlicht wurde und im Mittelpunkt des Summits stand. Der Gipfel fand im Rahmen der 78. Sitzung der UN-Generalversammlung in New York statt. Er sollte neue Aufmerksamkeit auf die Auswirkungen der vielfältigen und miteinander verknüpften globalen Krisen lenken und Unterstützung für die Umsetzung der Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung auf Regierungsebene generieren. Welche Rolle dabei Konflikt und strukturelle Gewalt für die Dynamiken globaler Krisen wie der Ernährungs- und Klimakrise sowie für die Erreichung der Nachhaltigkeitsziele haben, wird in diesem Beitrag betrachtet.
