Vaccine hesitancy refers to the delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccination despitevaccine availability. At its very core lies the problem of trust. Yet, there is very littleresearch on the role of trust in vaccine hesitancy, particularly concerning its ideologicaldimension. This research aims to describe and explore how the online news discourseon the Dengvaxia vaccine controversy legitimizes a particular trust culture in Philippinesociety. For this purpose, the research adopts the theory of social trust propounded bythe Polish sociologist Piotr Sztompka and links it to the study of news media using criticaldiscourse analysis. This research is an interdisciplinary project that adopts variousconcepts and lenses from sociology, linguistics, media studies, and public health.

Bennabi created the concept of Post- Almohad Man and its "Colonsability" – a ten­dency to be colonized which allows the aggressor to be transformed into the colonizer. Is Bennabi's theory applicable to Iraq? Should killing a Post- Almohad Man be the aim, as Bennabi postulated, and only this will allow society to develop? Although Bennabi rather had in mind liberation from auto-stereotype and reconstruction of identity, many still interpret his words literally.

Inspired by the work of Michel Foucault, this book includes articles from scholars employing political genealogy as a methodology and model of theoretical inquiry representing a wide range of disciplines, from the social sciences to the humanities, from philosophy to medicine, to economics, to political and cultural theory. Featuring some of the best and most current work in political genealogy, this work invites us to rethink many of the key concepts in political theory as well as cultural types of expression that we do not routinely think of as political, such as dance, romantic movies, and literature. Broadly conceived, this volume contains essays—excursions, explorations, experimentations—into how political genealogy helps us to understand what Foucault calls "the history of our present," while at the same time looking to our future, to what being a political subject will look like in the 21st century.

If processes of categorization are central to cultural sociology, then current developments as regards genre formation in the realm of music-streaming services call for attention. A double process of computerized genre analysis (producing a potentially infinite array of categories) and increasingly context-specific music recommendation (accommodating a vision of limitless personalization) challenges established, scene- and identity-based ideas about genre, as developed in popular-music studies. Drawing on Reckwitz's (2020) theory of the society of singularities, this article argues for considering this double process as the intersection of the logics of, respectively, the general and the particular. These logics are mediated by a dynamic sense of abstraction, involved in processes of labelling, enabling levels of generality while manifesting a potential for concretion. The increased scope, acceleration, and dynamicity of such abstraction mark genre formation in digital times. The article makes this argument looking particularly at the case of Spotify – market leader and front runner in the noted developments – as a basis for engaging broader questions about musical genre theory in the context of digitized culture and current conditions of musical life.

Women and Religion in the First Christian Centuries focuses on religion during the period of Roman imperial rule and its significance in women's lives. The authors adopted the human needs theory, the frustration-aggression theory of conflict, fragile state as well as the cultural theory of risk for climate change adaptation. The paper found that the government of Nigeria does not have an effective policy for adaptation during flooding, displacement and forceful migration due to climate change. The paper also highlighted other identifiable outcomes. These include loss of life and properties, increasing vulnerability, diminishing opportunities for income generating economic activities, increasing conflicts, the polity is tense and the country is overwhelmed due to increasing cases of victims of climate change and lack of adaptation measures. The paper therefore made appropriate recommendations to deal with the twin challenge of climate change and conflict in Nigeria

Both those for & those against multiculturalism have recognized the possibility that accommodationist politics might undermine the social unity of polities that are already diverse. Both groups need to be aware of the effects that the distribution of differentiated rights can have on the very people they are trying to help. This article addresses this paradox by exploring the unnoticed costs of multicultural accommodation. It examines the harmful effects of multicultural accommodation policies on women's citizenship rights & explores conditions that arise when individuals within the group are regularly put in danger by the very measures that are designed to promote their status as group members in the accommodating, multicultural state. Examined are the multicultural citizenship model, strong & weak versions of multiculturalism, established traditions & in-group pressures, family law & the construction of identity, the Israeli test case, & the privacy zone fallacy. The postcolonial diasporic writers' favourite trend is diaspora, dislocation, and memory. Women Indian writers living in host countries are far more advanced in this discipline than male writers. Their narratives are reminiscent of the past they left behind, as well as a reflection of the challenges they face in articulating new identities in the host country. Memories of Rain (1992) by Sunetra Gupta is a complicated and difficult postcolonial novel about numerous facets of migration and diaspora, including displacement, acculturation, transculture, and transnationality. Gupta illustrates interculturality and cultural hybridity through the protagonist's marriage to a foreigner. The goal of this research is to investigate the transcultural and transnational aspects of Gupta's Memories of Rain by applying postcolonial cultural theory of Homi K. Bhabha and Avtar Brah.
