Despite evidence showing Latinos to be among the fastest growing populations in the US, very few social work texts explicitly address practice with Latino individuals, families, and communities. CSWE curriculum guidelines mandate that students acquire cultural competence across their coursework, and there are several books available that focus on multicultural practice, but only one outdated book on Latinos in particular. Beginning with a comprehensive definition and demographic map of Latinos, Latino culture, and a cultural asset paradigm, the book identifies strategies for designing culturally relevant programs and services. Chapters highlight health and social concernsincluding issues surrounding gender, religion, language, immigration, substance abuse, health conditions, etc.but more importantly, they outline a practice framework that places cultural assets at the center. The book will provide a rich paradigm for understanding perspectives on culture, access, assets, and how they intersect to inform best practices. The step-by-step framework guides students through six stages: pre-contact assessment, initial contact and asset identification, resource mapping, relationship building, intervention, and evaluation. Each stage is heavily grounded in theoretical and socio-political considerations with particular attention to thinking critically about selecting best practices and how to sustain an evidence-based practice. Case studies, summary lessons, and key ideas make this an outstanding resource for students and professionals alike.

So beschrieb Karl Planck (1898, repr. Monuments and mementoes of cultural assets are taken very special care of by descendant heirs, as a form of national heritage. The Hague Convention of 1954 introduced regulations concerning the definition of a cultural asset. The Convention drawn up in Paris, in 1970, extended the scope of international legal protection in case of conflicts and armaments. It also extended notions which regulate the status of — e.g., rare collections. In 1976, the Convention signed in Paris clarified identification and definition of any kind of assets belonging to the countries which are the parties of the agreement, and determined their borders. The member states of the EU act pursuant to the regulations of the EU law and domestic law. After the accession to the Community, Poland adopted the EU law, which has to be direct and superior to domestic regulations. The EU and domestic legal regulations concerning the issue of the transfer of cultural assets — monuments within the Community and with third countries, are applicable to their export to other member states of the EU and within not regulated areas on the Community level, as well as to third countries.
Directorate of Cultural Heritage Preservation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had started an Inventory Project in 2015, for gathering the varying information of historical and cultural assets. Although there had been previous studies conducted by various institutions or local establishments, the absence of accessibility to whole updated database of historical values was a matter of concern, both for government and research studies. For this reason, it was aimed to create and update Istanbul Historical Database. The Directorate assumed the responsibility of creating the database and providing its accessibility through web and publications. It was also aimed to provide accurate information and multimedia, not only for existing but also further projects in respect of cultural heritage and preservation. There have been 41 people from different professions such as architects, restorers, urban planners, archaeologists and art historians being employed in this work. A huge amount of data including old maps, photographs, documents, drawings and projects were brought together and classified according to their contents. Afterwards, all registered values including monuments, civil architectural or urban elements were visited, observed and photographed. Also some buildings or assets were proposed to Preservation Boards to be registered. Furthermore, 74 types of data including location, architectural description, conservation state, materials, problems and bibliography were recorded. Database allows printing 4 types of inventory forms representing current state of the value. Database was integrated with spatial data to produce analytical maps. Database created by the project has been shared via internet and books to lead other projects about cultural heritage.
