Predicate offense in money laundering cycle
In: Cuestiones políticas, Band 41, Heft 79, S. 23-35
The article is devoted to the specific topic of the study of the concept, essence, types and meaning of the crime underlying money laundering. Special attention is paid to the topical issues of judicial review under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained property. The authors use general, intersectoral and special (sectoral) methods. The analysis of the judicial practice of Ukrainian courts, carried out by the authors, allows to state that the majority of cases of demanding criminal liability for money laundering occur either in case of existence of a conviction for an underlying offense or with simultaneous prosecution for both an underlying offense and money laundering. It is concluded that, the study of best practices in several countries gives grounds to suggest the possibility of prosecuting asset laundering as a separate criminal offense. Under such conditions, there will be no need to prosecute an underlying offense, especially if it is impossible to prove guilt for its commission.

The press in the institutional cycle ; La prensa en el ciclo institucional
A brief overview attempting to draw some basic parameters for future studies on the media ecosystem close to the political forces emerged after 15M in Spain. In order to map out this media landscape, as well as the debates generated around the "institutional cycle", two broad axis are proposed. First, a topographic one, which tries to enumerate some of the most important media outlets: eldiario.es, Público , Diagonal / El Salto, CTXT, La Marea, InfoLibre, Cuarto Poder, Critic, Nortes or AraInfo. Second, a temporal one, focused on the cycle's episodes which have fostered more discursive production within the last years.

POSTCOLONIAL TRAUMA THEORY AND THE SHORT STORY CYCLE: EDWIDGE DANTICAT'S THE DEW BREAKER
Starting from the symbolic presence of a scar in Edwidge Danticat's The Dew Breaker, which illustrates the tensions between wounds and healing, fragmentation and connection prevalent in the text, this article argues for a careful and contextualized look at narrative form in order to obtain a new, more complete view of the meanings in the text, including its political vindications. I offer a detailed definition of the short story cycle as a peculiar case of the simultaneity of closure and openness, both formally and in terms of meaning, which is aimed at making a contribution to the critical debates on this hybrid genre. When looking at both the sequential and independent readings of the text, the short story cycle proves most suitable to represent the complexity of the Haitian diaspora, and it also offers an interesting and necessary revision of trauma theory from the perspective of postcolonial studies.
