Privacy protection & data security become important part of business practice. In the same time customers are concernd about personal data missusage. Regarding this, in the world, & finally in Croatia, new laws & codes have been created to regulate & recommend how to communicate with customers & for those who do not respect decency, discretion & safety to set penalties. In direct marketing straight communication with prospective buyers & customers is essential. Target marketing campaigns are based on data base (which f.e. include consumer name, address, information about purchase behaviour etc.). Mailing lists are important for direct marketers because they send advertising materials to the potential buyers. Sometimes consumers are not satisfied with marketing activities because they are frightened of inappropriate data usage, privacy disturbance & bothering. References. Adapted from the source document.

Due to their professional selectiveness & standardized processing, commercial databases are a valuable source of scientific information. This paper describes the rationale behind their emergence & evolution in the sense of technological & content changes that the online databases have gone through in their 40-year existence. On today's market, there are hosts that offer a plethora of databases. In the Croatian academic community, access is provided via NSK & CARNet. The article lists the examples of surfing on major online databases available in the Web form (EMERALD, CSA, & EBSCO) as the relevant electronic sources of information from the field of social sciences/humanities. 9 References. This article deals with the issue of the peace-building process in countries with long-standing civil wars and the factors that might influence such processes. Based on my analysis, I identify two types of factors that might influence the peace process: power-sharing arrangements as an institutional factor, and attitudes of internal actors of the peace process as an agency factor. In this article I analyze the peace-building process in the West African country of Liberia. The peace-building process is analyzed through the study of the two main peace treaties signed to end the Liberian civil war in the 1990s: the Treaties of Abuja and Accra. In the analysis, I focus mainly on the extent to which the peace treaties incorporate the elements of power-sharing as well as the motivations, decision-making, and behavior of internal actors involved in the peace building process during the implementation of the peace treaties. The goal of this analysis is to reveal which dominant factor influenced the stability of the peace-building process in Liberia. Adapted from the source document.

A field research has been carried out on a representative sample of the Croatian people of full age in which the respondents were asked the same questions previously posed in the TV polls in some popular programs by HTV & OTV. There is a statistically relevant variance between the responses of the TV viewers & the field research respondents, which indicates a lack of credibility of the results obtained through TV polls. This lack of credibility stems from the multiple selectivity of the data resulting from the data collection method of TV polls. 6 Tables, 7 References. Adapted from the source document.

The author explores the legitimating roots of the constitutional state. In his opinion, they can be found in moral universalism & national democracy. Both principles undoubtedly belong with the fundamental tenets of the constitution of modern constitutional state. While the former implies the universality of its postulates, which are accepted by every constitutional state, the latter represents the restrictive principle of this universalness. The author links these two principles & defines a people as a group of individuals who, regardless of their ethnic, cultural, & religious station may, in line with the principles of freedom & equality of individuals, create a successful political community. By the universality of its legality, the defense of human rights & power-sharing, constitutional state is a necessary prerequisite for the prospect of fashioning a people as a group of responsible individuals in establishing universal will. Democracy & constitutional state should understandably be reviewed in the context of a society's progression in curbing the state. In any community the central issue is the relationship between the people as individuals & as members of a collective, since it is desirable for a collective to be a synergic sum of individuals. Thus it is prudent to search for a correlation between democracy & constitutional state. Democracy is an emanation of freedom, constitutions always a limitation. A state hems in a civil society; within it there is a network of the processes of structuring government from "above," which is of particular interest in transitional countries that gave up on the ideologized inaugural effect in designing government & adopted "constitutional engineering": power-sharing, popular sovereignty, representative parliamentarism, promotion of freedoms, & basic rights of individuals & citizens. In this, it is imperative to make note of the necessity of structuring societies from "below" by means of the principle of local self-rule. Adapted from the source document.

With the production of their own media material, the ethnic minorities assume responsibility for opposing the predominant media discourses of the majority culture, and fight for their own distinctiveness and (self)representation within the Croatian media sphere. The ethnic-minority media serve not only the purpose of preserving the socio-cultural values and special features of the minority identity, but also of providing information both to a particular community on the intra-ethnic level and to the majority of the Croatian society regarding the situation, the needs and the rights of the minorities themselves. Thus they represent and convey their interests to the general public. This paper aims to investigate how ethnic minorities are represented in the media and to what extent the ethnic-minority media are represented in the media arena of the Republic of Croatia. The author focuses especially on the city of Zagreb and the minorities which have organized ethnic-minority Councils there. An introductory discussion on the role and influence of the media is followed by an overview of the analysis of ways of reporting on ethnic minorities in the mainstream media of the majority, based on the results of research carried out so far. Furthermore, the paper includes a discussion on the minority media, comprising a tabular outline of print media and digital media (from the Internet domain) of the ethnic-minority communities in the Republic of Croatia. Finally, the author provides an analysis of such a state of affairs regarding the media, and some concluding remarks. Adapted from the source document.

The author analyses the role of services in the international market. Services sector has significant influence on economic growth & efficiency. Share of services in the world market is in contrast with the great role they play in the domestic market. Because of their intangible nature, trade in services is subject to larger limitations than trade in goods. Insufficient data or incomparable data on international trade in services makes this sector hard to analyze. Brought together to solve those problems, a few international organizations have made a Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services. This & many others are ongoing efforts to set internationally comparable data for future analysis. Tables, Figures, References. Adapted from the source document.
