Internal auditing is a collection of activities performed to bring value to corporate operations. It is critical for organizations to have effective and efficient internal control in order to continue their operations and compete with rivals. The management of the firms is also responsible for the implementation and monitoring of effective audit operations. Therefore, top management must be thorough and open in their approach to internal audits. As a result, internal audit efforts are critical for businesses.
This study was conducted from a management standpoint to establish the elements that actively contribute to the effectiveness of effective internal audit activity in organizations. The efficacy of audit units in organizations, the quality of audit work, organizational independence, career advancement prospects, and senior management support for the internal audit unit were all attempted to be assessed using the criteria. In the study, he conducted face-to-face interviews with enterprises in the Diyarbakir Organized Industrial Zone. The research found that the competency of internal auditors in firms, the quality of audit work, organizational independence, and career advancement prospects existed and that enterprises had a statistically significant and beneficial influence on the efficacy of audit units. However, statistical analysis revealed that there is no relevant association between the businesses' senior management's support and the efficacy of the enterprises' internal audit units and that the enterprises have no influence on the performance of the internal audit units.
Finansal gelişmenin sürdürülebilir ekonomik büyümenin önemli belirleyicilerinden biri olduğu uzun zamandan beri vurgulanmaktadır. Ancak, finansal gelişmenin belirleyicilerinin neler olduğu konusunda henüz bir uzlaşma sağlanamamıştır. Bu çalışma, ülkelerarası finansal gelişmişlik farklılıklarını açıklamada kurumsal faktörlerin rolünü tartışmaktadır. Bu amaçla çalışmada, finansal gelişmenin ekonomik ve kurumsal belirleyicileri geçiş ekonomileri için araştırılmıştır. 1995-2012 dönemini kapsayan çalışmada statik panel veri analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır. Kurumsal yapının göstergesi olarak 10 farklı değişkenin kullanıldığı çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre; geçiş ekonomilerinde, ekonomik göstergelerin yanı sıra sosyoekonomik durum, dinsel gerilimler, kanun ve düzen, etnik gerilimler, yatırım profili, yolsuzluk ve demokratik sorumluluk gibi kurumsal yapıyı temsil eden göstergeler de finansal gelişmenin önemli birer belirleyicisi konumundadır. ; It has long been emphasized that financial development is one of the major determinants of sustainable economic growth. However, a consensus on the determinants of financial development hasn't been reached yet. This study discusses the role of institutional factors in explaining the cross-country differences in financial development. For this purpose, the economic and institutional determinants of financial development for transition economies are investigated. In the study, covering the 1995-2012 period, static panel data analysis is used. According to the results obtained from the study in which ten different variables are used as an indicator of the institutional structure; indicators that represent the institutional structure such as socioeconomic conditions, religious tensions, law and order, ethnic tensions, investment profile, corruption, and democratic accountability are also important determinants of financial development in transition economies as well as economic indicators.
A recent surge in studies on high-level leader diplomacy has the potential to evolve into a fruitful research field. While the current literature predominantly focuses on the leader visits of two great powers, the U.S. and China, this emerging field requires both broadening and deepening in its scope. We lack data on leader visits from the vast majority of countries, and many existing hypotheses do not adequately explain the determinants in various cases. The more countries that are covered and the more refined our hypotheses become, the more insightful this field will be in understanding interactions among states and international organizations. This article aims to present the current state of the literature on leader visits and suggests potential areas of interest for future research.
Bu araştırmanın amacı, gelişmekte olan bir ekonomi olarak Türkiye'ye yönelik ve gelişmiş bir ekonomi olarak Almanya'ya yönelik doğrudan yabancı yatırımlardaki yabancı sahiplik yoğunluğu, ev sahibi ülke ve kaynak ülkelerin ticaret hayatı ile ve yatırım çeken şirketler ile ilgili hangi faktörlerin etkisi altında değişmektedir? sorusuna cevap bulmaktır. Araştırmada çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanılmaktadır. Teorik alan yazında sahiplik stratejisinin oluşturulması ile ilgili on yaklaşım mevcuttur. Araştırma sonucunda her iki ülke için yabancı sahiplik yoğunluğunu açıklayan faktörlerin ortaya konulmasında "işlem maliyeti yaklaşımı"nın geçerli olduğu bulunmuştur. Bu yaklaşımdan başka Türkiye'ye yönelik yatırımlarda sahiplik yoğunluğunun açıklanmasında "pazarlık gücü yaklaşımı"nın, Almanya'ya yönelik yatırımlarda "örgütsel yeterlilikler" yaklaşımının geçerli olduğu bulunmuştur ; The aim of this study is to find answers to the following research questions: which business-life and firm-unique factors have influences over foreign ownership concentration of inward FDI's to Turkey as a developing country, and to Germany as a developed country? Multiple linear regression analysis method is used in this study. There are ten approaches about building ownership strategy in theoretical literature. Results of this research are as follows: "transaction cost approach" is valid for explaining foreign ownership concentration for both countries. Other than that, "bargaining power approach" is applicable to explain foreign ownership concentration of investments to Turkey, whereas "organizational competences approach" is applicable to explain foreign ownership concentration of investments to Germany

According to the Constitution adopted in 1993, the new state was announced as democratic. The elections as one of the main criteria of democratic regime have also been periodically taking place. However, they have been resulting in the victory of the same person – Vladimir Putin (and once, of his successor Dmitri Medvedev). Basic socio-economic indicators have been moderately improving in Russia since Putin became president. However, as reported by such international nongovernmental organization as Human Rights Watch there have also been violations of human rights and political freedoms. Therefore, the fact that despite all violations majority of people still express their support for Vladimir Putin, attracts attention. Freedom House and The Economist Intelligence Unit annually publish democracy indexes, which measure the state of the democracy of almost 170 countries; and according to them, Russia is considered as an authoritarian country. However, opposed to this opinion such authors as J. Colton, E. Hale, Ekman, Levitsky, A. Way, Merkel consider Russia as the hybrid regime, which represents genuine example of the combination of the elements of both democratic and authoritarian regimes. This thesis study's analysis of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's elections reports, Russian legal texts and Russian survey reports has also led to the confirmation of this view: the regime in Russia should be referred to the hybrid, not authoritarian. And the main criteria within hybrid regime that leads to such a massive support for Putin lies in the manipulation of the public opinion through the media channels.
Kurumsal iktisat, ülkeler arasındaki büyüme farklılıklarının temel belirleyicisinin bu ülkelerin kurumsal yapılarındaki farklılıklar olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Güçlü kurumsal yapının hem uluslararası ilişkilerde ülkeler için önemli bir referans hem de ekonomik performansta belirleyici olduğunu savunan bu görüş, birçok araş- tırmacının çalışmalarında kurumsal yapıyı dikkate almalarına yol açmıştır. Bu çalışmada, bir değişim ve dönüşüm sürecinden geçmekte olan Türkiye'nin ku- rumsal yapısı çeşitli kurumsal göstergeler ve uluslararası raporlardan yararlanı- larak analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Türkiye'nin birçok kurumsal göster- gede dünya ortalamasının üstünde olduğunu göstermekle beraber sürdürülebi- lir büyümeyi gerçekleştirecek teşvik edici kurumlara henüz sahip olmadığını or- taya koymaktadır. ; Institutional economics points out that the main determinant of economic growth differences among the countries is differences in countries' institutional structu- res. This view, that advocates a strong institutional structure is an important re- ference for international relations as well as a determinant of economic perfor- mance for countries, has led many researchers to take into account the institu- tional structure studies. In this study, the institutional structure of Turkey, which is going through the process of change and transformation, has been analyzed using a variety of institutional indicators and international reports. The obtained results show that many institutional indicators of Turkey above the world avera- ge but reveal that Turkey does not have enough incentive institutions to realize sustainable growth.
Accession to the European Union (EU) has been one of the most crucial topics of the Turkish foreign policy. This topic, albeit sometimes not having a priority, always remained as a current issue and played a determinant role in Turkey's objective of Westernization. Within this process, parallel to the success that the accession would bring, it became more ascendant in current politics. It acted as the sword of Damocles as a determinant either for the election victories or as a trouble-maker on the head of the parties. The foundation of the Turkey-EU relations was first laid by the Democrat Party in July 31st, 1959 and these relations began to get deepen by the time the Motherland Party (ANAP) came into power in the 1980's. This study aims to determine the reasons that led Turkey to apply for the EU membership, the place of the relations with the Europen Economic Community (EEC) on Turkish foreign policy and the repercussions of this application in the public opinion. Therefore it is going to be given a general overview on the early years of those relations. In the citations taken from the newspapers of the period the expression common market is used for defining Turkey's counterpart while the author himself rather prefers to use the EEC, the predecessor of the EU.
Reaction through art, observed among the 20th century artistic movements, can result in artistic works in which animals are made the object of violence. The objections caused by these works sometimes make people question what art is and its value, and sometimes result in legal interventions. It is the forms of expression in contemporary art where idea gets ahead of physical production. In such an atmosphere, 'philosophy of art activities that question what art is' have become almost equivalent to artistic production. However, the controversial works make the concepts of ethics, law or public influence determine what art can or cannot be. In the background of all these developments, advances in the field of biology blurred the boundaries between animals and humans. After such developments, through which the anthropocentric thought system has lost its power, the position of animals in the system will also change. The reappraisal of animals will fundamentally affect the behavior of the human species towards them, undoubtedly. In such a system where the determinants of the concept of ethics are redefined, objectification of animals will not be ethical as before. In this regard, art can no longer be separated from other fields. When the determinant of the boundaries of art is a non-art field, the discussions within the field lose their meaning. This study aims to investigate the limits of contemporary art by examining the reactions to the selected examples of artists whose ways of including animals in their productions are criticized.

Thecomparison at country level indicates that pro-government preferencesincrease in the most of the countries by the time. Another fact is thatthe average of individualistic/collectivist attitudes is correlated with theper capita income level of countries. Attitudes favor of redistributionare positively correlated with per capita GDP, while attitudes favorpublic ownership and government responsibility are negativelycorrelated with it. Moreover, the homogeneity of citizens' views ina country is positively associated with the country's income level.We analyzed the individual-level determinants of the preferences onredistribution and ownership in Central Asian Countries and Turkey byboth the country-level samples and a combined sample of mentionedcountries. The fact that current account deficits lead to crisis in countries is the reason that determinants of current account deficit are examined. The presence of current account deficit along with the budget deficit is accepted as the "twin deficits hypothesis" in the literature. In the presence of domestic savings-investment deficit, the analysis of twin deficits is named as "triplet deficits". In the analysis of triplet deficits, the relations among current account deficit, budget deficit and savings-investment deficit are focused. Despite the variety of studies on twin deficits, the number of studies on triplet deficits is rather limited. This study aims to test the presence of triplet deficits in Turkey between 1984 and 2010 through VAR method. The findings indicate that there is a relation between the current account deficit and savings-investment deficit and the triplet deficits hypothesis is not valid for Turkey.
