Im Rahmen einer ansatzweisen Modellkonstruktion bemüht sich der Autor dieser bereits 1983 abgeschlossenen Studie um die formelhafte Erfassung des Kausalzusammenhanges zwischen den westlichen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen mit der UdSSR (Handel, Kredite, Investitionen) einerseits und dem politischen Verhalten der Sowjetunion auf den Sektoren der Militärpolitik, Außen- und Innenpolitik andererseits. Zum Zwecke eines illustrativen Tests seiner Formel wertet er einschlägige Aussagen von sechs westlichen Politikern (George Ball, Henry Kissinger, Samuel Huntington, Marshall Shulman, Richard Pipes, Hans-Dietrich Genscher) im Hinblick auf die darin enthaltene Einschätzung der Folgewirkungen der Ost-West-Wirtschaftsbeziehungen aus.
