The article highlights the details of the foreign policy of the Arab Republic of Egypt and its impact on the regional security of the state of Israel in between 2012-2013. After the Islamists came to power, they began to dominate expectations that the political force led by Mohamed Morsi would initiate an active anti-Israel policy, however, with active anti-Semitic rhetoric, the "Muslim brotherhood" was able to maintain peaceful relations with Israel. The purpose of this study was to characterize the relationship between M. Morsi's government and the state of Israel during the period 2012 to 2013while revealing the impact of various factors on the preservation of peace in the region, especially in the face of the conflict situation that intensified in neigh boring countries such as Libya and Syria. The main approaches to the study of the problem under consideration were analytical method and content analysis. It is concluded that the article can also contribute to the study of the history of the Middle East within the framework of Arab-Israeli relations against the deterioration of the political situation and the strengthening of religious radicalism in the region.
Public opinion leaders and activists characterized the Egyptian "Arab Spring" of January 2011 as a "Facebook Revolution". They highlight the intrinsic power of social media as an influencing factor for social change. Undeniably, social media played important roles in that revolution process. However, these roles cannot be disconnected from the socio-political contexts. This paper discusses the use of social media, particularly of Facebook, by the April 6th Youth Movement (A6YM), a decisive actor of the Egyptian protests. It is based on the analysis of two Egyptian newspapers and one American newspaper, between 2008 and 2011. We propose that a) social media provided alternative mechanisms for political expression and organization, b) social media contributed to the genesis and consolidation of the A6YM and to the establishment of youth political identities, and c) the combination of "bits and streets" amplified not just the movement's mobilization but the degree of opposition experienced by the Egyptian regime.
; Vicente Galarza y Pérez Castañeda (1878-1938), known in Egypt as the Count of Galarza, arrived in the country in 1905, he first engaged in archeological work and afterwards in teaching philosophy at the recently founded Egyptian University, for the years 1915-1921, and at the Higher School for Teachers Training, for the years 1921-1931. The Egyptian feminist movement has been regarded as having had a pioneering role in organizing the Arab feminist movement. However, as this article reveals, the last few decades here witnessed a backward trend due to various political and economic factors, which has led to lower levels of participation by Egyptian women in the political and social life of the country.

AbstractThis study examines the projected image of dancers in Egyptian cinema through the analysis of three roles in the career of the most famous Egyptian dancer of all time: Tahia Carioca. The historical background for the studied films includes the last period of the King Farouk monarchy (1946-1952), the revolution of the Free Officers Movement (1952), and the Nasser regime(1953-1970), and ends with Nasser's death, when a new social and political era started to blossom in Egypt. I consider the socio-political changes and their cultural repercussions not only as context but also as part of a dialectic relationship that affected the portrayal of dancers in three films featuring Tahia Carioca: The Lady's Puppet (1946), My Dark Darling (1958),and Pay Attention to Zuzu (1972). By examining her roles in the three films, I argue that sociopolitical changes in Egypt have been projected in –and changed– the image of the dancer, who is first seen as a working-woman (1946), then as an evil-woman (1958), and finally as a marginalized person (1972).Keywords: Egyptian society, dancers, portrayal, marginalization, cinema.

; The paper's general objective is to reflect on relations between political Islam, liberal democracy and economic neoliberalism. To this end, it studies the case of the organization of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood during its period in power, focusing on the economic dimension. This choice is explained, on the one hand, by the absence of the economic factor in the hegemonic reading of the "Arab Spring" and, on the other hand, by its strong presence in the international power centers' discourses which claimed that the political reform (democracy) had to be accompanied by an economic one (establishment or deepening of the free market). To this end, first, it analyzes the concept of democracy, stating that the hegemonic conception of it is heavily indebted to liberal democracy. The latter is defined by three elements: the elective process as a technical one, the construction of individuals-citizens and economic neoliberalism. For the elucidation of the latter, the article's bases are Michel Foucault's analysis, stating that neoliberalism is based on the free market understood as competition and, therefore, inequality. Economic liberalism is framed in the European process of secularization, one of whose corollaries has been the separation between economics and politics, but also between economics and religion. The non-separation between economy and religion results in the argument followed by some authors that the axis of Islamic economics is social justice, defining it as a moral economy. The article analyzes the concept of Islamic economics and contrasts the latter reading with another that links political Islam with economic neoliberalism. In order to avoid essentialization and to analyze practices, the paper does not a priori adopt any of these perspectives. Instead, it addresses the issue in a contextualized way. After a brief historical review of neoliberalism in Egypt, it analyzes the section of the electoral platform of the Muslim Brothers which makes reference to its economic policy. Also, it does the same with the discourse on the Arab uprisings of both the G8 and the International Monetary Fund, with particular emphasis on the latter's relationship with the government of the Muslim Brotherhood. It concludes that the Islamic political party sought a balance between neoliberal economic practices and those specific to a program that favors social justice, leaning toward the latter. Thus, the Muslim Brotherhood tried to act as a barrier to economic neoliberalism. This earned it the refusal by the International Monetary Fund of a loan that was considered necessary to encourage investment. This refusal, coupled with coordinated action by regional powers and local elites, led to the overthrow of the first democratically elected Egyptian government. ; Fil: Cuadro, Mariela. ; This communication aims to show how social media has returned to be protagonists of an unprecedented event, th e Egyptian revolution and its struggle for freedom and equality, major human rights, against a government entrenched in power. The object of study will focus on analyz ing political information disseminated by social media on the protest of the Egyptian people. Especially when the study of the International Center for Assistance to Media (CIMA) reveals that 50% of the Egyptian population is reported via th e Internet, compared with 34% who read newspapers. Apart from that we add the re markable culture of the Internet among the leaders of the democratic revolutionary movement, young people who are under 30 years. We start with the following questions: soci al media has proven to be an effective tool to engage with the demands of the Egyptian people? What social media has been used? What role had did social me dia? Can we talk of a new democratic government?, Social media deserve special recognition?, What say cybermedia about social media on Egypt? We will use the case method to respond to the grounds set out and reveal the real role of social media. The mobilization of civil society in Egypt is the sign of the importance of social media within a country's political changes. Communication tool that has been able to inform, build communities of citizen oversight, to mobilize the people and destabilize a government 30 years in power, although the regime prevented its use. Then it's possible to talk about emotional democracy in the social media. However, we believe that all of them did not contribute to the same extent, it is even possible for some of them have put some obstacle.
; This article aims to carry out a brief analysis of the treatment that Egyptian cinematography has employed for ancient Egypt. Unlike Hollywood or other European cinematographies, the Egyptian film industry has ignored the Pharaonic past for political, ideological, and aesthetic reasons. The political, economic, and social changes that occurred during the Nasser Government (1954-1970) affected the Egyptian cinema decisively. From that moment on, for reasons of political legitimation, the production of historical cinema would be promoted. While most directors would focus on reproducing historical events related to the Islamic religion, Chadi Abdessalam was an exception. Out of his seven works, above all it stands out his first and only feature film, The Mummy (1969), which raises the necessity to recover and vindicate the Pharaonic legacy as a fundamental part of the history of Egypt.
One of the aspects linked to the debate on the Paraguayan War/Guerra Guasú is the on cotton and its relationship with British imperialism as a possible cause of the conflict. Liberal authors reject this position, held by revisionist authors. This article evaluates the coverage of the Egyptian Revolution in ABC, El Mundo, El País and La Vanguardia, between January 2011 and December 2013, with the goal to investigate if there was Islamophobia and how it manifested itself. Methods: The study is based on the examination of the units of analysis that present Islamophobia through a system of deductive or predefined frames, and inductive frames, which emerge from reading the texts. Specifically, 428 journalistic pieces are examined through an analysis of quantitative content, and twenty-two editorials based on a qualitative content analysis. Results and conclusions: The results reveal that Islamophobia, when it does appear, does so in a subtle way. Moreover, it concentrates as much on political Islamism as on discourses that subscribe to the incompatibility between Islam and democracy, or the backwardness and homogeneity of the Arab-Islamic world with respect to Western superiority. Abstract: The interethnic relationships between the Libyan chiefs and the Egyptian State since the XIII century B.C., started from the condition of the Libyan chiefs as seminomadic pastoral groups until their becoming of regional centers' chiefs and kings of Egypt (XXIV Dynasty). These last conditions where achieved through a process of sedentarization and consolidation of the Libyans in the Egyptian territory. This situation was the framework of a double process of accomodation between those Libyan chiefs and Egypt: one of military conflict and incorporation into the Egyptian administration; the other, of subordination, domination and finally acknowledgment of them as chiefs in Egypt. Iconographical sources reveal two convergent processes: first, the transformation and reformulation of the Libyan chiefs' ethnic identities in the face of their new reality; and second, the weakness of the Egyptian State during the Third Intermediate Period.
