National audience The automotive industry requires cost, quality and time control. To this end, PSA Peugeot Citroën has been working for a number of years on integrating professional knowledge into design support tools. More specifically, the aim is to produce and make available IT solutions to automate routine design tasks in the field of CAD. Following research and industrial production, the PSA Group is able to propose tools and methods that provide solutions to the needs of its users. Today, faced with a policy of globalisation of the market, the group puts forward three strands: growth, profitability and innovation. This innovation must now be reflected in the design process. The aim is therefore to identify and test methodological environments that are equipped to capitalise on consistent 'routine' and 'innovative' knowledge with a view to their automation. We will focus here on the development of such an environment which will be experienced in the field of door frames.
This thesis deals with the design of distributed algorithms, network protocols, and cooperative applications with an object-oriented approach. This process requires the use of numerous system and network software components. We propose several tools and formalisms to carry out this activity. The originality of our approach is, first, to extend the local point of view of existing object-oriented methods in order to integrate the behaviors of groups of distributed objects, and second, to set up a distributed programming language. Thus, we propose a development process with three methodological levels: group, object, and method. This top-down process introduces, with successive refinement steps, more and more details in the behavioral models. These three levels deals, respectively, with distribution, concurrency, and sequentiality. In this thesis, we are interested in the first two levels. The group level deals with the inter-objects coordination of distributed objects. The interactions inside such groups are defined in terms of knowledge exchanges. They can be seen as the consequences of the run of some global actions performed by all the objects of the group. We put forward four global actions, called distributed control structures, frequently used in distributed applications: the phase, the distributed condition, the distributed iteration, and the distributed recursion. They can be seen as the extension, at a distributed level, of the four following basic algorithmic statements: the sequence, the \em case \em and the \em if \em statements, the \em while \em loop, and the backtrack traversal. We use an epistemic logic to describe the knowledge levels reached by the run of these structures. We propose a syntax, called group level knowledge based program, to describe the global actions and the epistemic predicates used by an application. The object level deals with intra-object coordination. According to the fact that inter-objects coordination is performed by objects whose concurrent activities need to be synchronized, the object level is a refinement of the group level. To carry out the description of intra-object coordination, we propose the CAOLAC language. We implemented it on top of the object language of the GUIDE distributed system. The CAOLAC language is a meta-object protocol that separates synchronization tasks from sequential ones. The former are defined in meta-classes, and the latter in classes. The originality of the CAOLAC language is to use both some state/transition models and some usual object-oriented code to write meta-classes. Each object is associated with a meta-object that traps method calls and that performs some coordination before delivering them to the object. The advantage of this approach is to clearly separate the different functionalities, and to facilitate the reuse of synchronization policies. The semantics of the CAOLAC language is partially defined with Lamport temporal logic of actions. We illustrate our approach with two examples. We present the design of a spanning tree construction distributed algorithm, and of a transactional two phases commit protocol.
This PhD thesis addresses the problem of the set-up of a stock policy adapted to a huge diversity context. We propose to include the notion of information levels into the classical question of design and inventory management. When product diversity enlarges, choosing an Assemble To Order policy offers a good compromise between product portfolio size and assembly lead time. We propose methods to help set up this policy. Actually this implementation raises the following question: How to make the set-up using the available information? This question can be split up in two: How to choose the modules to stock? How to size stocks? Huge diversity also has a powerful impact on information. Therefore, our work enables to take into account different information levels. This study also aims at observing the advantage of information on final products demand. Therefore we - model information about demand with an hierarchical point of view - develop an entropy-based method to construct information about final demand from available information - propose heuristics for the choice of modules - study the inventory problem on didactical examples By those means we propose methods to deal with the two questions of ATO set-up. Thanks to tests, we also stress the value of information. PREDIT — Aid Decision No 92.0013 (SERT R070) The use of road charging in urban transport policies seems inevitable in the near future. However, on the basis of debates and experiments around the world, public opinion generally remains strongly opposed to this idea, which calls into question the principle of free use of the 'public good' of roads. Analysis of urban traffic pricing tests and opinion polls shows that "social engineering" is needed, beyond technical and economic considerations, to design politically viable scenarios.
In this thesis we are interested with make or buy decision. We considered a point of view based on supply chain optimisation flow of products within the logistic chain. Particularly, the aim is to define a tool for decision-making. Initially, and by considering a linear structure for costs we use linear programming to model the problem. Modelling is carried out in two stages: initially by supposing that the choice is related to only finished products of the company, then by supposing that the choice also concerns its components so in this case all the logistic chain of the product is considered. A decision making tool is developed on the base of this last model in order to test various networking strategies. In the second time, we generalised our model by taking into account the economies of scale in transportation costs. In this case we obtain a non-linear program for which we proposed a resolution method based on piecewise linearization of the cost function. In the third time, we proposed to validate the structure of the chain thus configured, and which take into account make or buy decision, by supposing an inventory policy with economies of scale.

In this research, we present a numerical tool and its applications that enable to take into account the ambient environment factors during the architectural and urban design process. Generally, solar or visual "direct" simulation allows analysing a situation at a given instant or for a given point of view. In architectural and urban spaces, our "inverse" approach solves problems of sunlighting, visibility and solar reflection in built environment. By applying the principles of inverse simulation, our numerical model enables to mix these parameters and proposes to consider the relation between a base (given observer positions or a solar area) and a target (solar period – part of the sky vault – or visual element like, monument, landmark, etc.). These solutions of the calculations are "volumes of solar or visual constraints". They represent the whole of the sunbeams or visual rays between the base and the target. Such a representation enables architects and urban planners to find the exact solutions of a given constraint, and to conceive more sustainable devices in the long-term.
International audience ; Urbanism has long remained the business of the Prince or Pope (Sixtus V) and the architect the one who gave concrete form to the design of politics. In a way, "urbanism before the letter" (as Pierre Merlin says, for the word was born only in 1910), is a new domain derived from architecture. The construction of buildings has long been a practice that determines the practice of public space, of the street, the prerogative of "architect-voyers". Public space does not yet have this complexity which will later include it in civil engineering. Urbanism will then assume a different form, that the only "urban composition", with the growth hitherto unknown of the industrial city, can no longer satisfy to meet the new demands of the urban space, in particular the need for hygiene. Architecture and technology will thus be complemented by moral, social and medical values. So those who are interested in the city, who will contribute to the foundation of modern urbanism, will defend a pluridisciplinarity contrary to the movement of specialization of domains engaged in the nineteenth century.
