The present research work deals with the main macroeconomic indicators of the new European Union countries (EU-10) in 2003–2007 and provides tendencies of economic differentiation change. The theoretical part of the research work defines the key macroeconomic indicators: gross domestic product, inflation level, unemployment level, international trade balance, and foreign direct investment. The analytical part of the research work analyses dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators of the new EU members in 2003 2007 as well as investigates the factors that had an impact on changes in indicators. In order to evaluate the economic development of the countries, macroeconomic indicators of the new ES countries are compared with average macroeconomic indicators of the old EU members. The analysis concerning industrial power, economy growth and economic development level of the new EU countries showed that four-year period of membership in EU is too short to come to the economic level of the old EU members. Among the leaders remain Cyprus, Slovenia and Malta. Average rates of growth of gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in the Baltic States exceeded growth rates of other new countries two or three times; Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia remained the economically weakest countries. The analysis of growth rates of GDP per capita suggests a conclusion that the smaller index, the bigger is its growth rate and economic state potential. The highest and largest GDP index is in those countries that have strong specialization: tourism. The smallest inflation rate was in the economically strongest new EU countries, i.e. Malta, Cyprus, Czech Republic and Poland. The Baltic States, the economically weakest countries, although they were characterized by the fastest economic development, faced the problem of growing inflation rate, which became an obstacle for euro introduction in Lithuania and Latvia. Processes of integration in Europe induce the comparison of the economic indicators in countries of the European Union. According to the forecasts, it will take some time for the new members of the EU to achieve living standards of the old members even taking into account the support from the structural funds. The article, after discussion of the methodological issues of the concept of the living standard, the major components that describe the living standard and the methods of evaluation of economic inequality, presents the comparative analysis of the living standard of the European Union countries that has been performed by comparing GDP and overall income per capita and by calculating Gini coefficients of distribution of the overall income according to the age and education. The last section of the article provides the evaluation of distribution of the household expenditure in Lithuania in 2004- 2007 by using the Theil and Atkinson class indexes and parametrical Gini coefficients for the measurement of inequality.

The article "Analysis of Foreign Capital Inflow Impact on Innovative Growth: the Baltic States in the Context of European Union" discusses the role of foreign direct investments (FDI) and innovations in economies of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and European Union countries. Impact of FDI and innovations on the growth of economy of a country is being critically evaluated. Quantitative influence of foreign direct investment and innovations on economic indicators of the Baltic states and the European Union countries is also being tested. Hypotheses formulated by authors tackle relationships between foreign direct investment, grossdomestic product, labour costs, research and development expenditure (R&D), patent applications and summary innovation index in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and, respectively, in the European Union countries. In order to verify the presented hypotheses the correlation analysis and the Student's criteria method were used. Quantitative evaluation of separate relations enables us to compare and economically interpret the role of foreign direct investment and innovations in the Baltic states and European Union countries economies and allows forming an attitude of states towards stimulation of foreign direct investment and innovations.

The main object is to research the export of Lithuanian companies to European countries, also, to research the most popular export stimulating instrumentalities and the ways of development and to analyze the changes in Lithuanian fish production export to European Union after Lithuania has joined it. Also, using "Viciunai group" export information and experience, to research what increases export and what decreases it, also to determine the biggest problems, which are blocking export to European Union countries and to show the ways of decisions. In the magistracy paper, using a sample of "Viciunai group" the reasons, which are mostly stimulating or blocking company's export to European Union are researched. Using "Viciunai group" exports information and the experience, the changes in company's export after joining EU are analyzed. The meaning of Lithuanian export development ways to "Viciunai group" export development is also presented. The main company's export development motives are researched and company's export department's and export market's structure is analyzed. In the end of the paper there are conclusions and recommendations, corresponding to research results. The paper contains: 65 pages, 6 tables, 17 exhibits. 56 literature sources were used.
