AbstractExposure to family stressors that are an ordinary part of daily life is essential for healthy development. Most children show a "positive" response when stressful events provoke mild or moderately intense levels of emotional arousal and provide opportunities for recovery. Through processes of habituation and practice, responding to these types of stressors can foster the development of emotion regulation and coping under normative levels of exposure. Parents influence children's opportunities to experience self‐regulation and their psychological responses to stress and thereby shape their preparation to respond to stressors in the future. Different levels of stress exposure are also associated with different patterns of resting activity and responses to stress in the neuroendocrine and immune systems. When incorporated with information on exposures, protective factors, and outcomes, those biological responses can help us understand how resistance to future stressors is increased through exposure to nontoxic levels of family stress.

The article presents the results of the study of the reproductive biology of succulent plants of the Aloaceae family in the introduction.
Representatives of the family are part of the collection of succulent plants of the O.V. Fomin Botanical Garden, which contains over 190 species, subspecies and hybrids of plants of three genera: Aloe Linne – 86, Haworthia Duval – 74, Gasteria Duval – 23 taxa. In addition, x Gasteraloe Guillaumin (Gasteria x Aloe), x Gasterhaworthia Guillaumin (Gasteria x Haworthia), x Astroworthia G.D Rowley (AstrolobaUitewaal x
Haworthia). Most plant species are included in the international red lists. In the process of forming this part of the collection, the morphology of
flowers, inflorescences and seeds was investigated, phenological observations of flowering and fruiting were conducted, methods of vegetative and seed reproduction of family members were developed. Phenological observations have shown that the main flowering period is the spring summer period, but Aloe under greenhouse conditions is characterized by two more peaks (August, December). We have found that, in addition to simple or complex tics, in the vast majority of species, Aloe haworthioides is characterized by inflorescences of ears; perianth shaped tubular or cylindrical, inherent in the vast majority of species and performs, in our opinion, a protective function. The flowering of a single flower takes place in three stages, providing a self-pollination effect that is characteristic of crop conditions only for certain Aloe species, and the viability of the pollen is closely related to the ambient temperature. Freshly harvested seeds obtained by self-pollination or cross-pollination have a sufficiently large germination, but if stored in any way after three months, the germination increases. We have proposed a method of increasing the viability of seeds of plants of the Aloaceae family 2.5-3 times and developed a method of vegetative propagation of representatives of the genera Haworthia and Gasteria leaf cuttings.

AbstractIn this article, I examine and analyze paradigmatic conceptions of the family that are based upon a number of assumed primary purposes that the family serves for its members. In doing so, I argue that existing paradigmatic conceptions of the family do not capture the unique primary purpose of the family. I then suggest that a reconceptualization of the family is necessary to move away from inadequate paradigmatic conceptions and toward a more robust conception of the family. The approach taken in this article requires an examination into the way(s) the family has been defined descriptively—specifically, how families have been defined historically—as a means to determine what a normative theory of the family might look like. The goal of this inquiry is to define the family in normative terms, which consequently moves the definition of the family to a new conceptual landscape. Last, I present my own account of familial relations that aims to capture a normative understanding of the unique primary purpose of the family.

Following the post 9/11 distribution of anthrax spores through the U.S. mail, and the resulting deaths of five individuals - primarily due to initial misdiagnosis - there has been a renewed interest in anthrax among clinicians and intelligence agencies, particularly as a biological warfare agent. This monograph brings forth essential knowledge about anthrax. Included in this volume, are, the early history, non-natural outbreaks of anthrax, characteristics of the causative organism Bacillus anthracis and its relationship to other members of the B. cereus family. Also included are reports on extensive clinical findings, mechanisms of anthrax virulence and the genetics responsible for these virulence factors. The extensive studies over the years regarding the development of veterinary and human vaccines, and molecular studies, including conventional PCR and real-time PCR are explained in comprehensive detail, with the help of tables, figures and extensive references. This eBook serves as an advanced presentation and reference work for individuals seeking detailed information regarding anthrax and as a primary guide for individuals pursuing studies on anthrax.

SummaryAt military recruitment centres in France, data were collected from some 40,000 subjects on their social environment, the amount of education received and occupation, and measurements were taken on height, weight, and performance in tests of mental and physical ability. The secular increase in mean stature is continuing. Offspring of consanguineous unions are of lower mean stature and mental capacity, and it seems that the effect is most marked among those already below average. There is an independent effect of endogamy, but the effect of heterosis seems to be less than previously thought. Family size and composition affect stature, weight and mental capacity, and this effect is independent of socio-professional status.
