Based on the axiological approach, it has been established that the moral-ethical orientations of the German society have been internalized in the minds of the ethnos and verbalized by the ethnosymbols. An ethnosymbol is a motivated, conventional linguistic sign with multiple meaning that embodies important cultural meaningful concepts. The reasons for the formation of ethnosymbols are the specificity and duration of interethnic contacts, social, political and economic conditions for the development of ethnic groups. The semantic structure of the ethnosymbol is formed on the basis of national associative relationships commonly used in a particular sociolinguistic system of agreements. The aim of the article is to establish the value dominants of German culture on the basis of the analysis of ethnic symbols as important components of the linguistic picture of the world. Symbolic meaning as an associative rethinking of the direct and figurative meanings of the word involves taking into account the social function and ethnocultural specifics of the denoted object. National verbal associations are a prerequisite for the formation of symbolic semantics of the word, but the involvement of only linguistic methods does not provide a thorough and comprehensive study. The connection between language and language consciousness can be explored through an associative experiment. The results of such an experiment make it possible not only to establish the features of verbal memory, mental lexicon, cultural stereotypes, but also to reflect the specifics of the worldview of the language community. Most German ethnic symbols objectify such concepts as order, punctuality, purity, diligence, thrift. The set of the value dominants creates a certain type of the culture that has been maintained in the language and is transferred from generation to generation.

The aim of this article is to investigate the importance of the political dimension in the pre-service language teacher education programme. To do so, some models of necessary competencies for the language teaching craft (ALMEIDA FILHO, 2005; NEWBY et al., 2007, SCHART and LEGUTKE, 2012; KUMARAVADIVELU, 2012; ENDE et al., 2013) will initially be presented in order to examine the relevance that these authors put on language policy in this context. Based on Christ (1992), we will then debate that the political dimension cannot be considered a secondary aspect of language teaching, but rather should be seen as a basic element that not only determines but also structures the conditions under which language teaching takes place in a given context. For this reason, we will defend that language policy needs to be already addressed in pre-service teacher education. Based on the example of German teaching in Brazil, it will be shown how the impact of the political dimension on language teaching has become more marked in the present situation of globalization.

The process of establishing the supranational European Union has been accompanied by a construction of the idea of Europeanness (Geary, 2013; Pieterse, 1991/1993), of belonging to a common us, creating an idea of what we are, as Europeans, and necessarily othering those who do not belong (Butler & Spivak, 2007; El-Tayeb, 2011). The so-called "refugee/migration crisis" is a particularly interesting context in which to explore discourses not only about this us/them divide regarding what are presented as non-Europeans, but also who we Europeans are constructed as being. The media play an important role in the reproduction of representations about others, with whom the audience does not have direct contact. In this article, we explore discourses, in the Portuguese and German media, from 2011 to 2017, about the so-called "refugee/migration crisis". Through a qualitative content analysis, we have sought to understand how the idea of Europeanness is constructed, in relation to this phenomenon. This exploratory analysis allowed us to identify that there is not only a construction of the idea of Europe in which migrants or refugees are the other, but also of an idea of Europe that is intrinsically incompatible with the rejection of this other, incompatible with far-right or xenophobic ideas and movements. Being European, thus, is being not a Muslim, not a refugee, and not xenophobic.

In the present paper we try to recover the reflection of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels on the American workers' movement of their time, especially as regards to the role of socialists. It is our understanding that this reflection of Marx and Engels contributes, although little explored, to the understanding of the conception of both - the materialist conception of history -, not because it contributed to its final elaboration, but through the practice that the authors made this when they analyzed what was happening on the other side of the Atlantic. The reflection of these two authors may still be, in addition to merely theoretical issues, quite current - hence the focus on issues of political party strategy - since the parties that claim the working class today are, after all, much more than in the second half of the nineteenth century, but on the other hand, much less expressive than in the second half of the twentieth century. It is, in fact, one of several particular contributions of the conception of the two German authors.

The purpose of this paper is to question the legitimacy of the intervention that determines Kant's philosophy over Maine's philosophy of Biran. We will maintain, in this research, that Biranism is not a kind of Kantism and that the French philosopher's oppositions to the German philosopher are more striking than the apparent compatibility between them. To prove this proposition, we will demonstrate that the Biranian theses are essentially Biranian, contesting the words of our Lachelier that "Maine de Biran is Kant", and also that Maine de Biran was never a Kantian in strict sense, following a path opposite to that of the German philosopher, distancing himself from his philosophy and from any determinant influence of Kant.

This article seeks to analyze how the phenomenon of dance presents itself in philosophy, especially from the reflections of the German philosopher F. Nietzsche. To enhance our hypotheses, we will resort to the literary work The Steppenwolf by the German writer Hermann Hesse. We know that dance as a metaphor for thought is presented both throughout Nietzsche's work and in the aforementioned book by Hermann Hesse. Therefore, our analysis seeks to demonstrate how dance involves a situation of surrender and acceptance of Life. It is about dance as a thought of overcoming oneself. This overcoming takes place in the instant. The instant when we understand Life as a movement towards its infinite possibilities. Based on the philosophical investigation, in this work, we will start by presenting the concept of dance in Nietzsche's philosophy, then we will exemplify this concept in the work of Hesse and, finally, we will demonstrate the relationship between dance, thought and affirmation of life.

This article aims to highlight the value attributed to art, especially music, by Arthur Schopenhauer. The author's relationship with the philosophy of Fichte and Schelling will be articulated, contextualizing his thinking with the german romantic movement. Moreover, by presenting his aesthetic hierarchy, some fundamental aspects of the author of The world as will and representation will be pointed out, insofar as this duality is also pointed to when referring to the different artistic styles.

In this work we seek to investigate how the german physicist philosopher Werner Heisenberg understood the importance of cartesian philosophy in the construction of scientific thought of modernity. For Heisenberg, the central element of Descartes' great influence in the natural sciences is the separation of "God," "man," and "world." The physicist philosopher analyzes this separation and proposes that from quantum mechanics, the split between subject and object, man and nature, has become unsustainable.

This paper's purpose is to presente how the german philosopher Martin Heidegger proposes a return to the thought of being. At first, he points out the importante of this fundamental question, which was forgotten by the metaphysical tradition. His argument unfolds that thought of being is the essence of thinking. In times of sciences and technology, Heidegger defends the need to rescue this thought as a primordial task of human existence and that enables us to ask questions about the meaning that beings, Being in general and ourselves holds.

This paper aims to analyze the process of art's moving into the purview of aesthetics. Therefore, Martin Heidegger follow some concepts developed by the greeks, for instance the conjunction between matter and form and art as mimesis. The german philosopher also explain the relation between subject and object as the time of the world picture's assumption. Considering the interpretations given by the modern thinkers, Heidegger evaluate how the artwork becomes a support of sensitive experiences and how the judgment of taste associated aesthetics with the beauty and our sensibility.

In the present article we analyze the understanding and the use of the Kantian philosophy by the German physicist Werner Heisenberg, Nobel Prize of Physics of 1932, formulator of the principle of uncertainty. Heisenberg seems to adopt a neo-Kantian understanding of the nature of science, according to which science would not deal with the real itself, but only with the way it appears, which inescapably depends on the interaction between the subject and the object of knowledge. However, in spite of this conception, Heisenberg considers that the Kantian definitions of "space", "time" and "causality" are not compatible with the developments of the quantum mechanics. In this opportunity we will see more carefully the conception of science and the problem of causality.
