; Alexander von Humboldt became world-famous during his American voyage (1799-1804). His last and most popular book, Kosmos, represents the entire world in five volumes (1845-1862). In a key chapter (1847) Humboldt narrates the history of knowledge as a history of violence. He diagnoses a dialectics of exploration and appropriation since Greek and Roman Antiquity. Conceived after the Latin American Revolution of Independence, Kosmos is the first contribution of German literature to post-colonial theory. From this political perspective, we can even understand the hybrid poetics of Humboldt's work. In Kosmos, a large number of formats and sub-formats confusingly proliferate, apparently imitating tropical vegetation. This dissolution of a systematic, centered form, following the recognition of research as a colonial activity, however, is rather the effect of Humboldt's self-critical insight into the connection between Science and Empire. He gave up the project of authorially representating the world, and instead artistically demonstrated its failure.
This contribution aims to briefly review the literature and state of the art regarding the Myth of Plato's Statesman and to propose at first a new reading of such myth in light of the ancient Greek religious tradition and, specifically, of the Leitmotiv of the Hesiodic Myth of the Ages of Man. Secondly, we will put forward a comparison of this myth and its religious background with other political dialogues of the Athenian philosopher, notably with the Laws, which could point out the notion of the Golden Age and the divine government as a political ideal. The consideration of this passage of the Statesman in way of foundation of the mythical and allusive levels for these notions in other dialogues of Plato (especially in the Laws) would illustrate, if our working hypothesis is confirmed, the interaction of the global political project of the philosopher and the use of religious tradition and mythical examples of in other political dialogues.

; Literary sources about Celtic Peoples remain essential in order to understand certain theoretical conceptualisations yet. Hence, the actual information we have on Celtic politics, military power, assemblies, commanding structure, or the role of aristocracies, the elders or the common people can only be explained as the reaction, curiosity or even surprise of Classical writers' with respect to their counterparts. What strikes the most is that from the ethnocentric view of "the others", those writers tried to show an overall picture, particularly underlying features from several relevant groups whose military position made them lead vast regions (of the Roman Empire) from the Athlantic to the river Rhine.

; The Trojan myth is one of the literary motifs that Joanot Marlorell recycles in his Tirant lo Blanc, a novel that takes its cue from another usual motif of the medieval literature: the Greco-Turkish war. Martorell's Constantinople, besieged by the Turks, develops into a revival of the city of Troy attacked by the Greeks. This is deduced thanks to the comparison between Tirant and the Historia destructionis Troiae, by Guido delle Colonne, whose Catalan translation was used by Martorell in a profuse way. The concommittances between both works are related, fundamentally, to the narrative loving and military schemes, as well as to the tragic conc1usion. Martorell achieves a singular fictional development of a prestigious medieval topos of the Greco-Turkish conflict, by means of the productive merger of this one with ingredients of equally prestigious classic topos of the Trojan war, originating, this way, the birth of a new myth superior over the original ones from which it comes.
; This is an extension of the 2005-2007 project but at the same time it implies a new angle: the subject is still argumentation as pedagogical discourse but the actual aim is its promotion in the specific context of undergraduate classrooms through syllabuses based on Hellenic culture themes. It is an interdisciplinary research project in which Greek culture, culture philosophy, applied logic, rhetoric and history come into play with one another. It is a practical exploration whose premise purports the following: a continuous educational mediation (centered in the discussion of controversial vital situations of ancient Greek culture and that meets certain conditions) promotes young students' argumentative capacity and the competences involved as they attend the first years of Humanities programs. Therefore, it involves going into the realm of "the practical", (…) "that of the ill-structured troubles which spring from life as it is experienced. It is the realm which has been described by Wittgenstein as "the rough and harsh ground" and lately as "the swampy ground" by Donald Schon. A child's death. A student' s question. Conflict in politics. A teenager's wilfulness. How to answer to each of these issues is more than an epistemological query. Going into the practical means to go into the realm of the uncertainty, ambiguity and genuine disagreement. Grounded in a particular and concrete basis, the practical announces a wisdom and an ethics Aristotle called phronesis (Phelan, 2001: 41). In consequence, the project seeks to operate as a place of synthesis of material and formal elements and it will focus on the promotion of text linguistics which specific and transversal teaching strategies -which would be appropriate to each case- will add up. That is why pedagogical practices will be set up, with placement, instructional and cumulative instances of testing on argumentative texts and situations related to history, myth, philosophy, art and literature, in a diachronic approach.
C. a plena época bizantina. ; The epigrams contained in the Palatine Anthology make such a vast repertoire of authors, topics, approaches, tones, that it is not surprising to fi nd examples linked to powerful historical characters, located at some period of a long time frame ranging from the seventh century B.C. to Byzantine epoch. Whatever the intention, more or less hidden, to compose them or to request professionals to create them, they become valuable documents relating Literature and History and allow us to access to the always evocative human behavior in quintessential poems which reproach, fl atter or applaud the public fi gure of shift and his relatives. They are past whispers, ready to favor the past – present bond. For example, Crinagoras of Mytilene and Philippus of Thessalonica, epigrammatists of the Augustan age sponsored by the Roman aristocratic and chief circles, dedicated more of their creations to Octavius Caesar Augustus, the fi rst emperor, and portrayed him through political and / or religious attributes. This exploratory analytical research is based on the selection of a corpus of ten poems, the direct translation of the original Greek language, the ranking of the evident matter of the speech and a review of a conditional and patronage literature with the immediate and mediate consequences that this implies. In support of the above mentioned purpose, the research connects textual (aesthetic and ethical) and contextual (geographical, historical, mythical and religious, political and philosophical) elements. On this basis, the study foresees a mediating contribution for a better critical-refl exive comprehension of specifi c records in which art and power jointly conjugate. ; Fil: Difabio, Elbia Haydée. Using data from Greek and Roman texts and from the archaeological record, we analyse the ethnic and political complexity of the bay of Cadiz, with particular emphasis on the city of Gadir. We suggest that the Phoenician colonisation and the phenomena of mixture and acculturation of the local populations of this area shaped a demographic and cultural basis with areas of Phoenician dominance, for instance in the area of the bay, and others of tartessian-turdetanian majority that coexisted with Phoenician communities. The literature after the Roman conquest (Strabo, Mela, Pliny, Ptolemy) named Bastetanians the populations of Semitic origin living in the Atlantic and Mediterranean littoral of present-day Andalusia (Spain) which were ethnically different from the Turdetanians. In relation with political issues, we suggest a delimitation of the territory of Gadir, in the insular area and littoral of the bay, which acted as a frontier with the state formations of Asta Regia and Asido. We critique the concept of the "gaditanian-punic league" in which Gadir would have led the ancient Phoenician colonies of Iberia. In our opinion, the city would only have acquired that role after the Roman conquest.
This paper analyzes Valerius Maximus' Factorum et dictorum memorabilium and Plutarch's Lacaenarum apophthegmata to reflect on the way in which 'political motherhood' was conceived during the High Empire. From a careful and gender-based reading of both texts, we have attempted to reflect about how these authors intended to attribute to women a series of desirable behaviors in relation to their motherhood. Thus, many of their exempla explore the political action of these women on their children, but only in the case that it is exercised in the interest of the State. This approach, which has the advantage of making the maternal influence visible within the different stories, allows us to verify that the auctoritas of women over their children extended not only to their childhood and youth, but throughout all their lives. This paper, in summary, has tried to show how in the High Empire two authors from different backgrounds and chronology shared a series of ideals about the proper way of exercising the so-called 'political motherhood'. We have made a cross-sectional and comparative analysis considering that, far from being opposed, Greek and Latin literature can complement each other.

; The family, a social and cultural institution, is also clearly a dynamic, changing concept in constant evolution. From the days of ancient Greek and Roman societies to our days, the family has grown, adapted, and also (almost symbiotically) contributed to very remarkable social and cultural changes for society. In Colombia, these changes were anticipated and investigated by anthropologist Virginia Gutiérrez, and have become dramatically notorious since the Colombian Constitution of 1991. Only with the birth of the new Political Charter, non-heterosexual persons, single mothers, remarried individuals and those who simply did not marry under the Catholic rite were able to find the legal tools to claim the guarantee of subjective and objective rights which had been historically denied to them, either for political or cultural reasons, or with social and particularly moral pretexts. Therefore, by means of a literature and documentary reviews in light of the hermeneutical historical method, we shall attempt to first reflect on the relationship between the findings and contributions of anthropologist Virginia Gutiérrez and what has been developed by constitutional jurisprudence since the 1991 Political Charter; and second, we shall endeavor to set out certain contributions regarding the social and cultural challenges and perspectives of the Colombian family in its various forms and typologies.

; Abstract: This work proposes a reflection on the integral formation of the human being, a problem in force to this day, in Greek civilization, since in it Stylos. 2021; 30 (30); pp. 7-17; ISSN: 0327-8859; E-ISSN: 2683-7900 8 literature had to fulfill a privileged place. The success of a good education translates into personal and social achievement and recognition. The tragic contests, whose spectators did not have any economic impediment that prevented them from attending thanks to the theorikón (public money destined to the payment of tickets to the theater), are proof of the presence of the dramatic genre in the representation of characters whose events had precipitated them to misfortune in the tragic genre but also success in comedy. The famous passage from Aristophanes Frogs 1053-6 places the teacher of chil- dren on a level of equality with the poet for adults. Lyric poetry is also a teaching tool for Theognis who advises his young lover Cyrnus how to adapt his behavior in order to achieve success in his life. Solon, a politician, anguished by the dangers that could loom over Athens, exhorts his fellow citizens to live according to criteria based on justice. Xenophon recreates an image of Cyrus as the ideal sovereign who has managed to forge a vast empire, thanks to his personal qualities, lineage and education. Ischomachus, main character of the story in the mouth of Socrates in the Oeconomicus also by Xenophon, owes much of his prosperity to the teachings that he has transmitted to his young wife. Ultimately, Herodas's Mime III "The Teacher" offers a real painting of education in antiquity in which blows were part of it.
There is no doubt that Vat. II was characterized for its unmistakeable pastoral orientation. But this pastoral concern has been so emphasized by Vat. II's commentarists that we have arrived to a kind of oppostion between pastoral and law, pastoral and dogma, pastoral and moral. Rejecting current Canon law as unpastoral, a new pastoral law was sought. On a diocesan level distinctions began to be made between juridical government and pastoral government, with the corresponding divisionsand contradictions in the diocesan bishop's real functions. This state of things brought the author to study what Vat. II really meant by pastor and pastoral tunction. Given the pastoral references of Council documents, particularly the Constitution Lumen Gentium and the decree Christus Dominus, to texts of the Old and New Testaments, the author analyzes the concept and misión of shepherd in Holy Scripture, and also in extrabiblical literature for its relation to biblical texts. Hence the idea and mission of shepherd is studied in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Phenicia, and Chanaan along with Greek and Hellenic civilizations. Befare entering into the question of shepherd in the Old Testament, brief references are made to the life of shepherds in Palestine as well as to pastoral terms in the Bible. The pastoral theme is studied in the Old Testament chronologically. In the first place, in the time of the Patriarchs ,and later, in the Monarchy. Different sections are dedicated to the concept of shepherd in the Psalms, in pre-exilic prophets, in Ezechiel, in Zachariah, in the Book of Isaiah. and finally. in Psalm 23. The study of the pastoral theme in the New Testament begins with an overall vision, followed by specific considerations of the Synoptic authors. the Gospel of Sto John, and the remaining writings of the New Testamento A special partdeals with the relatioship between pastoral ca re (apacentar) and episkopos, between shepherd and bishop-along with their synonyms in Apostolic times. The section ends with patristic interpretations of pastoral texts in the Bible. After reviewing the concept of shepherd and pastoral function in Holy Scripture. the theme is studied in the documents of Vat. II.
