To explore, reveal and analyse the Argentinian's representations of Europe, a qualitative survey was conducted with : candidates for a European nationality, people standing for emigrate, and Argentinian migrants settled in Spain and France from 2000s. Indeed, the crisis of corralito (2001) has led to a strong wave of migration, especially to Spain. This migration is part of the particular history of Argentina : Argentina was a Spanish colony and a land of an important European emigration in the 19th and early 20th century. Now, Argentina holds a special place in the North-South international relations. Argentinian national history meets singular family histories of descendants of European migrants. Thus, we analyse the administrative trajectories of Argentinians who want to get a European nationality. Italian and Spanish legislation offer this option to the descendants of their former national who has emigrated to Argentina. Holding a European passport allows free circulation through the world. Migrant experiences are an opportunity to reconstruct family ties with Europe. It also revive the images and sentiments about Europe, forged in school and through the media. If Europe, particularly Spain, is seen as relatively close and attractive, it also draws a positive opposite of the Argentinian crisis. But Europe is seen in a more ambivalent way : a negative vision can be explained by various obstacles (during the administrative phase and during the migration). Indeed, the stories change progressively during the stages of migration : personal projects are redefined downward. Furthermore, the European vision is awakened by restrictive rights for undocumented migrants and racism and xenophobia. To concluded, Spanish crisis (2007-) is reconfiguring, once again, family memories, identifications, projects and performances.

This research deals with the making of population statistics used in the politics of nationalization and by national movements in Central European during the 19th century. It is focused on the phase of transformation of nationalism, from the emancipation movement of the nationalities in 1848 to mass nationalism in the 20th century. Poland whose territories were shared at the end of the 18th century between the three states − Prussia, Russia and Austria − is taken as an exemplary case study that displays all the dimensions of the issue: the conduct of population censuses by the statistical office, the use of the figures for the implementation of nationalizing campaign, discrimination and expulsion, the reappropriation of these official statistics by the national polish activists, and at least the use of this voluminous documentation by the diplomatic experts at the Peace Conference in 1919 to trace the borders of the new states. This study intends to give a contribution to the history of nationalism through the statistics but it problematizes also the evidence of numbers in the national claims and politics. It questions therefore the historical conditions that made possible the numbering of nationality and investigates the political configurations that were crucial for the Polish question. ; Cette recherche retrace l'histoire de la place prédominante prise par les statistiques dans les politiques et revendications nationales dans l'espace centre-européen au cours du 19e siècle. In history, the idea of uncertainty has taken on many forms, both in the methodological field, with for example the definition of historical sources as traces, and in epistemological terms, with the major question of causality or even ontological with the infinite extension of the "historian's territory". Nevertheless, more than an operative notion perhaps, it has long remained as an invariant, a kind of epistemological madguard (a "residue" according to the term adopted by Marc Bloch) of historical knowledge. The question of the historicization of the idea of uncertainty in the historical discipline is related to the place assigned to it in the epistemology of historians, always in tension with the desire for scientificity and truth that has long structured the disciplinarization and professionalization of history. Where do we place the cursor between uncertainty and truth for historical knowledge? This could be the guiding question to periodize the place of the idea of uncertainty in history and roughly distinguish after a predominantly scientist phase linked to the professionalization of the historical discipline (19th-first 20th century), a phase of doubts about history's ability to tell the truth, which became clear at the end of the 1970s and could conveniently be characterized as the great reversal of uncertainty in history, which, from an embarrassing limitation to reducing as much as possible, became an operating principle for defatalising history. However, it will be necessary to question this periodization, more or less modelled on the general evolutions of the sciences, marked in particular by the rise in power of probabilistic and indeterministic approaches and more or less directly related to what is perceived by the majority as the rise of uncertainty in the historical world itself ; this will require taking into account another level of analysis that adds to the weight of uncertainty in history, the moral and political dimension around the question of the social function of history.

This political dimension cannot be ignored if one is interested in gender relations within soccer. Yet the social, economic and cultural progress of which women benefited during the 20th century are not enough to understand the disparities that have been observed in the development of women?s football in Europe. Actually, in a statistical study published in 2000 the International Football Federation (FIFA) underlines the setback of Finland over Norway, Denmark and Sweden even if the condition of women is as good as in its Scandinavian neighbours. The FIFA study also highlights that the number of licensees in Spain is four times higher that that of France or Great Britain even its practice developed fifteen years later. In comparing the evolution of women?s soccer in the different European countries including the former Warsaw pact countries from World War I until today this study intends to demonstrate how soccer has reflected the imbalance of genders in national public affairs and contributed to their exclusion.
