In the most violent and uncertain times of its recent history, Brazil is revisiting the origins of its racial frictions: the slave trade. "Histórias afro-atlânticas" (Afro-Atlantic Histories) is a massive, 380-work survey of African, Latin American, and European art from the past five centuries, chronicling the largest diaspora in modern history. Nearly half of all Africans captured by slave traders were brought to Brazil, from the time the Portuguese arrived, in the 16th century, all the way through the 21st century. The exhibition is a sequel to "Histórias mestiças" (Mestizo Histories), staged four years ago at the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, the cultural center that is also cohosting the current exhibition. Its scope is far-reaching, with pieces by colonial-era Dutch master Albert Eckhout and modern greats Théodore Géricault and Paul Cézanne, as well as contemporary art-world darlings Glenn Ligon, Kara Walker, and Hank Willis Thomas

; The political history of psychoanalysis is approached as a movement around psychological ideas and practices not in order to draw a historiography of such movement, but to sketch a historically valuable narrative in regards to certain institutional aspects of psychoanalysis, which show the way through which it has taken political actions within its institutionalization. Based on the psychoanalysts' political stances and their theories, we outlined some intersections among them, analyzing three authors, Paul Federn, Otto Fenichel, and Ernest Jones, and then analyzing the constitution of the psychoanalytical movement and the Freudian cause propaganda. Our hypothesis is that, despite the different stances and political forces that exist within psychoanalysis, they have converged towards the defense of one cause.

In the studies of exile and migration, we commonly find discussions that situate the subject of exile, represented by the universal male figure. However, in this article, we aim to demonstrate that, from the beginning of this social phenomenon, women also emigrated, even before exile became collective / family. The figure of immigrant women breaks the stereotype of a female who devotes herself to household tasks and highlights the female mobility (PERROT, 2000). Thus, we situate three categories of female figures, linked to the context of immigration, but which are invisible in their fight: the woman who remains but does not play a passive role; on the contrary, it ensures the financial scope of the family. We also highlight the figure of the woman follower, whose role is to participate in the maintenance of family networks; and finally the figure of the exile itself. The epistolary sources and the reparation dossiers of the law of 1881 authorize a broader analysis of what the judicial sources have so far privileged, namely, the male figure. The three figures we present here allow us to rethink the importance of female migration policies and also the gendered division of tasks, especially in the context of exile. Making the genealogy of power was never Foucault's clear intent. However, the power issue was always a recurring theme in his investigations, to the point of scholars suggesting a division and organization of his work as from three theoretical axis. Within this perspective, the analytic of power would mark Foucault's philosophical path in the 70's. Indeed, until 1994, the year of publication of a series of texts, interviews and conferences by Foucault on 'Dits et écrits', the issue of the analytic of power was mostly known from books like 'Urveiller et punir' (1975) and 'Histoire de la sexualité I: la volonté de savoir' (1976). With the beginning of the publication of the classes in 'Collège de France' from 1997 the reading towards the analytic of power might undergo an enlargement. But it isn't until 2015 that the entirety of Foucault's classes on Collège de France were published, opening an important path towards the investigation concerning the first reflections regarding power. It is our intention to show on this paper how the first steps of the analytic of power by Michel Foucault comes to life from a gauchiste context still set in the terms of a dynastic of knowledge. Accordingly, we try to show how the dynastic period matches a theoretical sketch, first attempts of formulation of the power concept, distinctively elaborated in contrast with marxism. This opposition occurs mainly in the refusal both of the Marxist infra-superstructure scheme and of the contractualist (Hobbesian) model of state society.
The purpose of this article is to conduct a comparative analysis of of two classical works of Brazilian historiography. The first is the book published by José Ricardo Pires de Almeida, entitled L'instruction publique au Brésil (1500-1889): histoire et legislation and published in 1889; the second refers to the book The Instruction and the Provinces - 1st Volume From Amazonas to Alagoas by Primitivo Moacyr, published in 1939. In this analysis, we will try to explain the characteristics and understand the theoretical and methodological conceptions that guided the construction of writing of the authors. For the analysis, we focus on public education in the period of the Empire in the Province of Rio Grande do Norte, after the Additional Act of 1834. The deliberations of Michel de Certeau (1982) about the relations between history and writing grounded our research on the making of the authors' history. This study emphasized the importance of the works for the field of History of Education and showed that the writings were permeated by the political and cultural relations of the time, associated with the practices of registration and compilation of information, primarily official, defended by the Historical and Geographical Institute Brazilian (IHGB) and having as central focus the state actions in the scope of education.
